  • This is a cool video! Where can I find all the music you used?

  • this is helpful, thank you :)

I like your video very much ^^

and I would like to see how your drawing looks like finished [if you have finished it- I don't always finish my drawings :/ ]

anyway, I give you thumbs up and I hope you do more videos with drawing tips, keep going :)

  • @AnArtistPsychoMind Thanx for your kind comment! Personally, I believe that if you're not feeling it, there's no need to finish a sketch. I leave them half-done for months or even years until I feel I'm in the right mood. :P The finished drawing can be found on my deviant art page (my username is sci-rose) under the title "Schedophilus Maculatus sketch", if you wanna check it out.

  • @bukroot You are welcome. I'll check it out :)

  • @bukroot why dont you make something like a paper with one square cut out and hold it over the original picture it would be alotaa easier :D

  • @lolrazfour This video shares just a way that helped me when I was little and just starting out. But there are a whole bunch of other ways. You can use whichever one suits your style and personality best or makes you feel most comfortable. What you consider easier may actually be harder for others and vice versa.

  • Thank you I've been struggling with sketching recently and realism has never been my thing,But I know it will only make me a better artist, although this seems like it will take a long time I'm sure it's worth it.Can you really begin to notice the details more?Because that's exactly what I fail at..I mean I draw a general okay sketch but the details of it and shading has always looked confusing to me...I'll definitely try this thank you!^.^

  • @LavenderLava It really does help you notice better and draw exactly what you see. With daily practice, it took me just a week to see some progress in my work. After a month I was already drawing photographs that looked like the original (although they weren't perfect). Just make sure you keep all your work in a folder or something so you can monitor how much better you became after every drawing. :) Good luck!

  • And if u can't draw the image on the inch squares, cut them into centimeter squares... Lol, just kidding. This was a great vid! Imma go cut up a picture of Taylor Swift, lol. But srsly folks...

  • @purplesoozie haha that was a good one. :) and it wasn't bad advice. the trick is to make the squares smaller and smaller until the image on them is easy enough to draw.

  • @bukroot YAY!!! U REPLIED!!! I luv it when the owner of the video gets involved in a the conversations... espiecially when it has more than a couple views.

  • @purplesoozie I always reply to ALL the comments on my videos. :)

  • Are you French?

  • @eyeoftiger101 nope. I'm Greek! :) do I look or sound French maybe?

  • This is just a variation on the Grid System. I find the Grid System to be awkard, slow, and overly time-consuming.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone that it is. but it's merely a stepping stone for practice. after using it to get better, it can be discarded and then the artist can move on to quicker techniques. :)

  • Thanks! Love the music also.

  • @s6y9l you're very welcome! :) and the music is free online. the link to the site is in the details.

  • i liked that i thought that was pretty cool.

  • @random6037 I'm so glad you liked it. :) Lemme know if it actually helps you out.

  • thumbs up for boxcutters

  • @Domishmo Amen to that! :P

  • If didnt already know Chuck Close made drawing with grid famous. He might have invented this style.

  • @jayr408 Really? WOW! I'll be sure to look him up. Thanks! :)

  • @jayr408 The Grid System is centuries old. It just happens to be the image transfer method that Close, and many other artists, use.

  • How long did this take you???

  • @justmeisabelle if you're referring to the fish picture: it took me about 4 hours in total. if you meant the video: about 6. :P funny how actually making the video took so much longer. :P

  • took me 11 years to finely learn the correct way to look at the subject and draw within that line drawing if you dont understand ill make a video for you.

  • inexample if you want to draw a square thats in front of you point yoour pencil tip on the paper and look from the point of the led directly in line with the first paart of the sqaure. watch my videoo on youtube how to draw the length of a horse explanes more

  • look at my video as example how to draw anything its not just for length its for the whole drawing its called how to draw the length of a horse. dont know if i said this before but that does work took me 11 years to do

  • @narcovice 11 years? to come up with the technique or to become good at it?

  • very good best way to do it is put a picture above the paper and follow the line directly bellow it example draw a straight line across the paper. and below it draw the same line as long ass the other one then that is the way you do a face

  • @narcovice i don't understand what you mean? can you explain this a little more?

  • Woooow! My mind = Blown(: Im 13 years old and the only thing I think I can really draw that isn't totally rubbish, is anime. Soon as my printer gets fixed, I'm definitely trying this method. Im absolutely awful at photorealistic, does this mean that your method won't work for me? Thanks for the video, can't wait to try it out! :P

  • @OoLarawoO Like i said, this method works with ANY picture! :) Sure you can use it for anime. I've actually done that and I am certain it really helps. I really wish you the best of luck when you try this out. If you are ok with it, could you show me how it turns out? and trust me, even if you start out with just anime, practicing really helps you start drawing photo-realistic (if that's your thing). I started around your age and i thought i'd never be able to draw portraits. but i was wrong ;)

  • I would love to know how to draw.. When I was a lot younger (I'm only 22 now by the way) I "Kind of" knew how, mostly copying other images, but some originals also.. Not pro drawings, but okay drawings. Now I suck at it..Big time.. I wanted to draw a woman's face, but here is a problem, besides my drawing skills, I only habe HB, and H3 (It has a 3 in front of it inside a golden square) and I can't get anymore pencils, because around here there are none besides those. Can I do it with just those?

  • @23freak of course you can! i drew for over 15 years with just one kind of pencil and i had no idea what type it was, too. :P the drawings i can assure you come out just fine, as long as you know what you're doing. it's not the pencil that makes the drawing, it's the hand HOLDING the pencil. ;) you can draw masterpieces with a HB and 3H pencil. the 3H for light segments and the HB for dark and medium ones. :)

  • Okay, I like to draw portraits, like my favorite Kpop stars. I CANT get the skin right. if I do strokes, it looks too dark, or the stroke marks appear. If I smudge, it sometimes comes out blotchy and uneven. I also have trouble on hair. Like, curly, wavy, or textured hair. Help? Or if you can, make a video on that stuff?

  • @earthtiger12345 It sounds to me like you're using the wrong pencils. What I do, is this: let's say i'm drawing a girl with dark hair and really light skin and her clothes are an in between tone. to make sure everything looks as light or as dark as it should without me having to put too much effort into it, i use a 3B or 4B for the hair, a B or HB for the clothes and a 3H or even 5H for the skin. that way, no matter what technique you use, the tonal difference stays the same.

  • @earthtiger12345 Personally, for portraits (which by the way are my favorite subject, as well) i find that gentle strokes work better than anything else. watch my video about shading techniques for further information on crosshatching. trust me, if you're patient and keep the pressure from your hand constantly the same, it doesn't look dark or produce stroke marks.

  • soo, if I keep on doing this, I can then eventually freehand easier, right? I', 12, and I'm new to pencil work. what pencils did you use? B? 2B? and what if the paper doesnt divide into even inches. like, there's a 9/18 of an inch left at the end? sorry for so many questions!

  • @earthtiger12345 Ask as many questions as you need, my friend. I am glad to answer them. :) So yes, if you do this enough, the practice will allow you to freehand. not just easier, but like a pro. Especially if you're 12, your learning process happens easier and more naturally than compared to older people. . as for what pencils i use, i won't be exaggerating if i say ...all of them! depending on the values, tones and textures i want to draw. it doesn't matter if the squares aren't 100% even.

  • @earthtiger12345 you can leave as big or as small a margin around your paper as you feel comfortable with as an artist. sometimes i leave huge thick margins, sometimes i leave no margins at all. it depends on what you think looks best or makes you feel more comfortable. oh and just so you know, if you have ANY questions at all, feel free to ask me, whether it's as a comment on here, or a message, a tweet or anything else really. i would LOVE to help you understand the beautiful world of drawing!

  • 6 people were scared by that fish...

  • @aquaprin I was scared by it when i first saw it. it's a scary fish. :P

  • @bukroot lol :)

  • @bukroot thanks really tho this helped me a lot :)

  • @aquaprin You're welcome! :)

  • i like more thinking theyre just tones not lines, helps moar my shading, thx for the tip.. i just started =D

  • @IaxSonOfTheMoon that works, too. it's all about what makes you comfortable. this is only one way to do it. there are thousands more. :) best of luck on your journey into the wonderful world of art, my friend!

  • haha unexpected fishy:O

  • @smileyluv97 SURPRISE! :P

  • Woah! So good. Thanks! =)

  • @caliberon No problem. :) Glad I could help.

  • WHAT DID YOUR FISH DRAWING LOOK LIKE!!!?!!

  • @fischerfamily4 i have them posted on my deviant art page. my username is sci-rose so you can check em out. :)

  • I never been good at art until a few weeks ago i got arrested and sent to juvi for a while. It was pretty much hell but i did find one good thing they let me get out of my cell and draw for a hour a day. After i got out i started taking art seriously. You made me sooooo much better. Thank you so much dude. Your so pretty and awsome. :P

  • @skatemoree16 That's magnificent! well, not the juvi part. but the fact that something so beautiful came out of something so unfortunate. i'm so glad you discovered your love for art. trust me, it's a valuable skill to cherish. ;)

  • @FRHvkHUIYI it does. but it's very easy to gain those skills when you start small, practise frequently and work your way up :)

  • you look like the main girl from glee

  • @NaRuHiNaTa83 haha really? thanx for that. it made me smile. :)

  • I learned something like this in art class, except we didn't cut the paper and we put the lines on the picture side not the blank side :) this helped though, thank you! :D

  • @redretclicker there are many different days to do this sort of thing. it's really a matter of what works best for you. :) glad this one worked.

  • artist, hot and refers to the matrix.... nice :)

  • @3catsandafish (blush) thanx on all accounts! the matrix rocks! it's hard NOT to reference it! ;)

  • By doing this you are actually working with the right side of your brain! Fantastic, girl! Keep going!

  • @ADAMAKAGORE Thanx for the support! it really means a lot :)

  • I found that fish image and did everything you sed but... I drew a unicorn??

  • @ryolo132 that is a possibility. lol did it at least turn out to be a pretty unicorn? :P

  • plaka mas kaneis?:P skies exw ieda pws na kanw xaxaxa...na m peis oute lefta gia 3istres den iparxoun :P

  • @ejokurirulezz hahaha! who needs sharpeners when you can just smudge everything with your fingers?!

  • seems cool to me , but i have a natural talent for drawing i always have ....

  • @lightweight69 awesome!! do you have any footage of any of your work so i can take a look and tell you what i think? what style do you have?

  • @bukroot i don't really have footage but i used to b a tattooist so my work varies from tribal to Japanese and many other different styles ...

  • @lightweight69 wow! tattoo artists always have really cool drawing styles. and almost every one of you guys have their own unique way of drawing the same thing. that always inspired me. i'm kind of a copy-cat. i haven't exactly developed my own style yet. still trying to get the hang of many different ones until i find the one i feel most comfortable with.

  • This is so cool and you make it so easy!

  • @Jordmate i'm glad you think so! that means i've succeeded in my goal. i'm trying to show people that everything in life, in GENERAL is easy. just as something so difficult as drawing real life can be made easy. :)

  • scary fish, helpful tips,

    nice video :)

  • @Blah123456ful hahaha! sorry for scaring you. lol thank you for the comment. :) keep in touch.

  • ta lemeeee...:P

  • @Aprosarmostoi s'arese auto? xaxaxa!

  • @bukroot ine arketa eksipno...alla poli xronovoro...:/

  • @Aprosarmostoi xaxaxa! s'arese auto? :P

  • Thanks for the tutorial.Excellent thumbs up

  • @duncanauk1 you're very welcome :) and thank you!

  • omg you are awesome!!!! :) haha ok so what should i start doing after using grids for drawing?? i think ive been doing it enough and i need to let go of it. oh and i think im kind of a perfection freak so i usually take a really longgg time in doing my sketches but it frustrates me because i see many artists who dont use grids and do really nice sketches in a little bit of time. what do you think could help me with that? tthhhankkss

  • @00hottopic00 well...once adept with using grids, you could try techniques like negative spaces, turning the picture upside down or flipping it over in photoshop. you can also try simply trying out drawing the picture from left to right or right to left and see how that goes. odds are, if you've become good at the other techniques, then you're ready to start becoming adept at free-drawing. :)

  • Nice video!!!

I never really thought drawing an image could be that easy...

  • @TheRevolutionstarter it can be a lot easier than that! :) all you have to do is put your mind to it. watch my "how to become skilled at anything you choose" video and you'll understand what i mean.

  • Oops sorry I mention trick idk how it came out as whatever it was

  • That is really cool but a little complicated another Reich I learned is to turn the pic upsidedown and cover all but a half inch or less with another piece of paper

  • @XxTOCOOLMONKEYxX i mention that upside down trick at the end of the video. it's very common and very easy to use. you're right that this one takes more time, but it gives better results, as it kind of combines many tricks together.

  • Wow, that is so cool!

  • @ynot92763 thank you so much! :) i'm glad you liked it! lemme know if you find it useful

  • /watch?v=c54luFQfrp0&feature=related Check out my helpful how to draw from a photo video as well :)

  • @FrancetichSketch sure! thanx for the link!

  • lLLOL. That is one scary fishy!!! Thanks!!! I am a pretty decent artist but not from real life. I remember the grid thing but i had forgotten it. Does that make sense? No?But you know what i mean. you're a great teacher . 3:33 that "interesting" piece might just be fun to fool with. I'm a musician and recording engineer, and I've alway's felt that it's like "drawing" or painting" a track. different steps. Was that fish in the Gulf recently? Thunbs up.

  • @ConservativeStudios every artist is different. i suck at drawing out of imagination. if i don't have something to copy i can't draw to save my life. that's the beauty of art. everyone's personality comes out to the open. lol i agree that making music is a lot like drawing and painting. it's a creative process. that fish is found close to rhodes, greece.

  • @bukroot Thanks. Are you an American living in Greece? You have no accent and perfect English. interesting how all artists differ. I envy y'all who can draw reality, because I can't. Thanks. I'm in NY and it's 8pm. I assume you're 5 hrs ahead so good night if you're still awake.Have a great day tomorrow.

  • @ConservativeStudios i'm full-on greek, but i grew up in australia and now i'm studying in greece. yeah, we're 6 hours ahead of NY

  • Awesome video. Liked and subscribed :)

  • @Areashiftybun thank you so much!

  • Excellllllennnnt........amazing and wonderful........great video....well done .....keep up the good work.........word for word........A fortiori.......322

  • @322SkullandBonesTV you're making me blush :)

  • lol...

  • darren guy blocked me from his channel(for asking thais r supposed to be buddists why r they marrying like christians, so r they being converted to christianity?)what ever! so i am leaving a comment here elephants got stronger back n stronger butt cheeks lol. they love to work for their masters as long as they are FED, HYDRATED WELL,AND OF COURSE LOVED.

  • @Reddylion really? you were blocked just for that? wow... sounds weird. Darren's such an understanding and nice guy. are you sure you didn't say anything else in a way that might have offended him? anyway, i have never seen or ridden an elephant so i dunno if they have strong backs. they sound as loyal as dogs, for some reason. do you live in a place that has elephants?

  • @bukroot yup i cant believe it either!the answer he gave is we r true christians something like that if i am not wrong!i even said its ok its better to be christians than being under aged prostitutes(with all good intent)exactly i wanted to say that loyal as dogs.lol no where near elephants,i am also an animal.just a guess, after all i have seen of elephants on t v.lol..

  • @Reddylion umm... not to take sides, dude, but that did kinda sound rude, even to me and i'm not even attached with thailand. when you make a comment that involves sex, religion, race, politics or any other belief for that matter, it's best to put a smiley face and lots of "hahaha"s after it, otherwise it's very easy to be misunderstood in comments where the other person can't see your expression or hear your tone of voice.

  • @bukroot sorry i am Reddy its not in my blood to put a smiley face and back stab i say what i feel, i speak my heart. i cant lie just to make somebody happy.its not me sorry!(misunderstood in comments where the other person can't see your expression or hear your tone of voice.)agree but i never that he cloud be that... anyway forget it.

  • @Reddylion i never meant that you should lie. by all means express what you want to. i was just saying that when you say something and mean it in a funny or a not-so-serious way, let that be obvious by adding not-so-serious emoticons. otherwise its fine to just write it plainly.

  • @bukroot converting other into different religion is a crime(me atheist) yet i still added LOL what more can i add. still with all good intent i agree converting a under age girls etc to christianity is ok because under age prostitution is EVEN BIGGER CRIME. that the reason i said it ok and added LOL..

  • @Reddylion hmmm... well i guess i understand what you mean. but it looks like darren didn't. it doesn't really matter though. i mean there are a lot of other channels out there. no big deal. :) and if you have another channel you can still subscribe to him if you still want to. anyway, i have to go to work. talk to you soon!

  • @bukroot of course its not a bid deal but i dint expect this from an aussie if it was american i wouldn't have given a rats shit.i always thought these guys r more reasonable n think right!!!!! anyway nice talking bye......!

  • @MyOnAzEd thank you for your wonderful comments! really? you do art? i'm going to check out your page! do you have a deviant art page?

  • u have alot of talent!!! I really mean that and very good people skills..I look at those things when I watch vids..Im sending u one of my more popular videos

  • @fiwaszewski you really believe that? awww! thank you so much! i'm still learning when it comes to both my drawing and my people skills, but i am very persistent and i'm sure i'll become a pro in no time! :) as for the talent part, my next video will be all about that. cant wait for your feedback.

  • very cool!!!

  • @GHOSTSeekers3 glad you liked it :) there's a lot more on the way.

  • @bukroot - Lots of commitment... :)

  • @ThatAussieFamily you can say THAT again! :) i need my very own time machine to match the hours of the day with my commitment. :P don't get me wrong, though. i'm not complaining. i actually get more than most people into my days. :) i'm kinda proud of myself to be honest. lets see how it goes now that exams are coming up. wish me luck!
