If u mess up on eye make-up use a q-tip with a little bit of olive oil. then rinse off the area u used the oil on with some warm water. it will give u a quicik clean up and it makes ur eye lids alot healthier.(I know this because before I just used water my skin was dry around the eyes. now I have softer looking and feeling skin.

@paranormalchicka777 But it's probably better just for dry skin. I have oily skin under my eyes for some reason, so oil would make it worse. So if you mess up and you have oily skin, makeup remover is probably best. Otherwise, your method sounds right. :)
