  • OMG AT 0:30 THE GUY IN THE BACK WAS FLOATING

  • Such a pretty mellophone. Mine's a piece of shit.

  • you can play it a lower octave haha

    :) its easier..

  • Hey guys.. figure the notes out yourself, ok? It isn't that hard. I'll give you a hint, first note is an E.

  • Can you please give me the notes? i want to show my band director this :)

  • 10 degrees plz ugh

  • could you so kindly tell me the notes

  • What are the notes?

  • that guy at the end scared the shit outa me

  • I am a flaming homosexual.

  • dude were did you get the notes :o

  • how do people get to view your videos?? mine never grt viewd

  • Haha... That's awesome dude...

  • thailand thailand ,SB band figth

  • P'songpol .he's handsom haha

  • almost every single note in that song wasnt held out for its full value, other than that it was really good though

  • I Play This In My Middle School Band....And Me And My BFFL Are The Only Who Play It In The Entire 6th,7th,And 8th(Except Jeada) n_n ~H@!l3y-

  • Good job playing, but the acoustics in that area are terrible. I could hear echoes of your notes. That said, good job.

  • it looks like a trumpet shaped F-horn

  • Switching from Tuba to either mellophone or trumpet. What should I choose?

  • @bandGEEK2316 Well personally I like the mellophone a lot, but I haven't played the trumpet very much.

  • @bandGEEK2316 Mellophone!!! <3

  • @bandGEEK2316

Mellophone. But mellophone is mostly used for marching band, so I would recommend the french horn.

  • Awesome~

I Hate playing on the mellophone.

    Dam marching C:

  • Awesome, post us the notes? :D

  • Tuba!!!!!

  • @Laughingmans6 Fail... lol jk

  • Nice. ^_^ I play mellophone in my schools marching band. I also play trumpet and french horn. Loooove them all.

  • can you post the notes to this song?

  • @mukraf Well, technically no. There are a few discrepancies with your argument - I play the mellphone and in fact it began as a very similar instrument to the french horn - as a sitting down, curved horn. The modern mello is indeed used mainly for marching, but it really is a common misconception that the mellophone was created as a "marching french horn". As UltimateLink said, there is in fact a difference between a mellophone and a marching french horn.

  • @sifilms Your right. A "marching french horn" is NOT the purpose of the Mellophone. In fact, go and search music dealers and you might find a Marching French Horn. But the mellophone is very similar, and also cheaper.

  • Alright damnit you guys, you guys have to be retarded not to know the difference between a mellophone, a marching french horn, and a french horn. The mellophone, which is typically in the key of F, is regarded as the marching counter-part of the french-horn even though the marching french horn exists. A french horn (my god you have to be retarded no to know the difference) looks nothing like a mellophone. If anything, I would say the mellophone is closer to the trumpet except for the tone

  • @mukraf well you are correct i play mello and frenchhorn but honestly it all depends on the type of marching french horn. because our marching french horn is nothing that different from a mello except the mouthpiece. for us its in the key of g. so not calling you a liar this is just my band i would like to see one of these marching french horns if you know any vid that has one i would like to see that

  • want ype of mouthpiece is that

  • Great stuff

  • ดูแล้ว เหมือนๆ คนไทยนะ ใช่ป่ะเนี่ยะ -..-

  • HAHAHA MARIO, i have a malophone, well its actually a school owned instrument, but i'm it and the (also school owned)french horn

  • Where can I get the music to this? I wanna play it in the stands :3

  • Why the fuck does everyone have to play the mario song on their instrument and post it on youtube? That song sucks, and every time someone posts themselves playing mario, everyone is all like, "0MG!!!!! YOU CAN PLAY MARIO!!! YOU ARE SOOOO AMAZING!!!!"

  • Haha. Niceee!

  • hhahahaha owned!

  • Awesome..

Im a beginnner..can you tell me which buttons to press like for example:

    1st, 2nd, both, third etc..

  • why the floating asians?

  • @imakepwninlemonade why not? ;)

  • WIN

  • @ChicksFly172 the song is definately a win but the kid in the backroud is a FAIL

  • dude that looks like a coranet with bigger tubing

  • next year im going 2 high school and ill play the mellophone is it easier and lighter than the french horn

  • @horselover96legend It is easier and it is lighter but harder to hold for long periods of time because of the way you have to hold it.

  • @Deathwish42 is it the same fingerings as a trumpet

  • @horselover96legend Yes but the notes sound lower. For example, if you see an D on the 4th line you play it with first valve but it will sound like a trumpets A on the second space.

  • @horselover96legend Fuck you you fuck, giving misinformation to the community

  • @theiceman259 Hot, but uneducated, modify your outrage please.

  • @valvetrom I thought he was talkiing about the scales

  • @Deathwish42 No it's actually heavier...

  • @tatormellow If you are referring to a mellophone vs. french horn the french horn is heavier, I promise, I play both. If you don't believe me find a standard double horn and a mellophone and then weigh them.

  • @Deathwish42 o i was talking about mello/trumpet

  • a mellophone is just a marching frenchhorn its basicly just a cross between a trumpet and a frenchhorn

  • @thebrownchevy A marching horn is a marching horn, a mellophone is an entirely different instrument with no relations to the horn.(horn=the correct term for the french horn)

  • yea i play mello to . great sound

  • awsome i just play single f horn

  • If any one knows da notes r at least da fingerings to dis song plz plz plz comment bak r snd me a message plz.

  • นักเรียนมหิดลป่ะเนี่ย?

  • isnt it a marching french horn?

  • no it isn´t

    it´s a mellophone in F

  • accually it is smart one

  • @debaduado dude its a fuckin fhorn/mellophone...

  • @VampireChick1231 yes basically i think

  • Very mellow! No wonder this is called a mellophone.

  • cant wait to get my mellophone in high school

  • is that a dynasty?

  • no, i think is a Yamaha

in my band we have some like that

  • dude you need some mellophone embouchure, your airflow is wrong

  • this a melophone melo. use a trumpet mouth peice they sound like a trupmt and horn mixed a melo.uses the same trumpet fingering so i havent ever heard of a melophone useing a horn mouth piece

  • @edisonphonographfan

yea there is a mellophone dat uses a french mouthpiece cause i play it

    dumbass

  • @daymo93 its christmas u dont have to go aound callin people nasty words it aint bad to be wrong i play horn and i m 13 so iwas tokld there was only a trumpet mouthpeice melophone by my band director

    merry christmas

  • @daymo93- It's not a specific mellophone that uses a french horn mouthpiece, it's just the adapter that you use to fit a french horn mouthpiece into it which any mellophone is able to carry an adapter.

  • noooooo im sayin i have a mellophone that uses a french horn mouthpiece no attachments im cold like dat

  • Comment removed

  • Uhhhhh..I play a mellophone with a horn mouthpiece..you wish you knew what you were saying

  • it definatly uses different fingerings... and not any trumpet player to play Mello... yuo gotta have that it about you to play mello

  • Yes!!!!!

  • dunb ass play the baritone then youll be a sexy beast!!!

  • stfu

  • u got good range!! i play in a dif key, what kind of horn?

  • good work! (baby mario dancing there scares me, though)

  • u rly need to hold ur horn up more. n work on tempo. but besides that the tune n notes were good

  • hes not marching. its just a vid horn angle doesnt care. that is technically the correct angle thats best for embouchure

  • derp he'd be playing a french horn for that embouchure. you get better air flow with a 30 deg horn angle sorry

  • good job

and lol the kid behind is dancing

  • can you give me like sheet music for it?? i really wanna learn this song

  • this could be a lot better, but it sounds okay.

  • Ugh i gotta march mello this year. WHAT A PAIN!! but i can screech it since i play trumpet in concert band

  • me 2. i played trumpet in 6th grade and now im playing mellophone and french horn

  • uhh no it's a mellophone!! G/J

  • mellophone is close to bari but in this vid its a bari a mello's tubes are slight "thinner"

  • No it's a mello sweetie baritones are much larger!

  • idiot.

  • this makes me excited. im gonna be playing mellophone in marching band next year. Hazzah!

  • Ooooh, you rushed, slow it down a bit.

  • nah, he was low on time.

  • nice sound

  • I play french horn so if I play in a marching band i would play this ofcourse XD but honsetly I hate melaphone for some reason which is weird even though I love horn

  • nobody cares you dork

  • bitch fight me

  • tlk to ur band instructor cuz some insrtuctors will let u play ur horn

  • u kiddin? i love mai mellophone!, except this is a yamaha mello in the vid, i play a king mello, either way, mellophone is a LOT easier to play than the horn

  • I heard it can improve your range but I dont like marching band really, I'm more of an orchestra guy

  • i have a question about my mellaphone, when i press my valves down,no sound will come out. i really dont get it...

  • you probably have one of them in the wrong place ir its backward. :)

  • check and make sure your valves are in the right direction. The number on each pistion should be towards the mouthpiece. and make sure the right piston is in the right spot. 1 is closest to mouthpiece 3 is closest to bell. You never kno, doesnt hurt to check. =P

  • You gotta buzz your lips.

  • I wanna try n learn from this by ear XD

  • Can you give me the notes Please

  • wats that mouthpiece your using

  • Nice job!

I play mello in marching band. Since I also play French horn and trumpet, it's pretty easy. =]

  • i'm going to play mellophone next year for my marching band.

    it looks intense hahah.

it'll be easy for me since i can play trumpet.

and i REALLY wanna learn french horn :D

  • My fellow French Hornian and I didn't want to march with a french horn (and the Marching french horns were SHIT!!! Put together with tape litteraly!) so we learned the mellophone. It was easy for us, but then again... We could use our mouth peices we used for the french horn.

  • mellophone is a marching french horn.....

and ur school sucks about as bad as ours!

masking tape or duct tape haha

my mellophones held together with scotch tape!! yay cheap schools!

  • no it isn't, it is used as one, but the real marching horn has a longer bell (look one up). I personally think Mellophones sound better than a marching french horn and that Mellos should the the marching french horn not the actuall marching f horn. We got lucky, our mellos were very nice (thats cuz they weren't our schools :] )

  • yeah theres an f horn(flugal horn) and then theres a mell. a mell sounds more like a french horn(if u use th french horn mouth peice) then th flugal horn

  • are you calling this a flugel horn???? -_-

  • Flugal horn is in B flat

  • i play alto saxophone and trumpet and piano AND penny whistle

so i can play just about anything

    : )

  • Oh yea well I can play F horn/Mello/Trumpet (lolz it's like Frankenstein) piano, guitar (acoustic and electric), ukulele, drumset (marching snare sometimes) AND im gonna learn alto and violin from my friend haha

Some people say I sing well but i think im jus ok

  • im switching from flute to mellophone.

    it is very hard.

  • well, they ARE 2 very different instruments!! Don't give up :)

  • haha my friend did that!

its not too hard dont worry you'll get...ive played 7 yrs!

  • hey can anyone give me some tips on horn and mello i just switched over from trumpet also you should make a vid of how to play this :)

  • hey lucidlight shark i just switched from trumpet to mellophone too lol. just thought i should tell u. so ironic. how do u like it?

  • Mello is EXACTLY the same as trumpet just in a different key. so yea, if you know how to transpose, you can find the trumpet version and change it into F. or just play it in the wrong key. ^_^

  • Haha lucky you.......Im switching over from FLUTE

  • I switched over from Sax, but once I learned mello, I knew trumpet.

  • haha. thats what i am currently trying to do. my director wants me to play mello for marching band next season but im having a ton of trouble so far just trying to learn to buzz on a mouthpiece

  • brass is tough huh?

  • Comment removed

  • look like the toromborn

  • what is the mellophone to me its like french horn and trumpet

  • The mellophone (mello to marchers) is the combination of the horn and trumpet, yes. It's used in place of the horn in marching bands. However, unlike the concert counterpart, the mello is pitched in Eb, not F, yet it still reads F horn parts (fingerings are the same as trumpet).

  • its in Bb

  • its not in Bb its in F same as french horn the only 2 instruments in F

  • some r in Bb and the mello-soprano sax iz in F also

  • the ones in Bb are also most the time doubles with both F and Bb controled by the thumb valve

  • the eglish horn iz also in F

  • my mellophones in F not Bb!!? lol

  • Whoa wut? Who told you Mello was in Eb? My friend plays alto, and his g sounds different than my g so im pretty sure mellos r in F

  • they are.

  • Mellos are in F, fer sure.

  • no, there r mellophones in F most yamahas are inF

  • @midkid476 yes I have one :)

  • @midkid476 they also make Bflat ones. I played Mellophone, I miss it :( but i still got the Fhorn n trumpet so i can make due lol

  • @midkid476 I played Mellophone, I miss it :( but i still got the Fhorn n trumpet so i can make due lol

  • Keep your pitch up on that high note! otherwise great job :-)

  • nice!!!!!

  • Great playing, and *nice* instrument! Sounds even better than the King I used in HS, which had a nice, large bore but not quite as large as this one. I used a "real" French-horn mouthpiece with an adapter --- would *love* to try that combination with this instrument.

  • BAH! *glomp*

I love you, you mellophone nerd!

  • ih4t3su, it's a mellophone. I have one just like it. :] ANYWAY, whoever this is playing has the best tone I've ever heard. :] Go mellos!

  • omg its sad when he doesnt know what instrument hes playing.... unless there more than one type of mellohpone cuz i play the mellophone and that doesnt look like my mellophone... they have more valves

  • no they don't they have 3. the bells bigger and i think this is a flugel horn. sounds and looks like it.

  • idk what kinda mellophone u got!

  • this on the video is a mellophone.

  • there two valve mells and they rnt really made any more but this is def a mell cuz i have th same one in gold.

  • im excellent at playing this because i have been playing the trumpet for 6 years and ive only had my mellophone for a week but im really good at it. On the other hand ive been playing french horn for half a year and can barely play it because the mouthpiece is soooooo small!

  • wierd, i didnt have any trouble with the mouthpiece, but i switched from euphonium to trumpet and i play french horn too lol

  • i cant stand the small mouthpiece on the french horn!!! but i play the mellophone just like this guy :P

  • i use a french horn mouth piece on my mell with a trumpet sized adapter, wen ur march, it sounds more like a french then an enlarged trumpet

  • i have an adapter as well but i hate french horn mouthpieces its so hard to manage to find the pitch of the notes... although on the trumpet im close to hitting super C :S

  • o i can go to a very high a on my mell

  • Agreed, I do the same.

  • can i get da notes for dis

  • wow very mellow lolz sort of like a fluglehorn

  • you wonder where it got its name... ;-p

  • So anyone wanna give me the notes or sheets or soemthing for this song? :D

  • i suck at playing the mellophone.

  • dude how do you get that great tone?

  • Now THAT'S how you play the mellophone. :]

  • what tipe of mouthpiece did you use?

  • You have WondErful tone most of the time

  • Background people are always the hidden star of the show, eh? But nice playing! A little to fast IMO, though.

  • Nice; -points at guy in background- Wtf?
