At first I didn't like Think Tank all that much, but now it's one of my favorites. If you didn't like it the first time, try giving it another listen. It's a really fantastic album.
Think Tank is a great album. Easily Blur's best. The reason being that during the recording Graham Coxen left the band and thus left all creative control in the hands of Damon Albarn. For those of you who aren't tone deaf you'll notice that a lot of this album sounds a lot like the Gorillaz, i.e. Damon Albarn....In many ways Think Tank is like a Gorrilaz demo album and it kicks ass.
@keabiasis I think what drattigan is saying is that Blur are much more versatile. The life trilogy was just superb pop, plain and simple.Blur went from making pop records to brilliant experimental pieces like 13 and Think Tank. Oasis never really evolved and their style remained very derivative and generic throughout their career. Blur's discography is far superior to that of Oasis'.
im not psywacho im his friend, but eitherway i gave him this disc as a gift andwe love it this video is incredible congratulations, right now im burning some discs to play at a party we are tripping in acid and peyote and psywacho owner of this comments acct is drunk haha cool
Think Tank was a great album and it finally won the srgument about whether Blur was better than Oasis because Oasis could never make music like this. Having said that, it is important not to forget the stuff they made while Graham Coxon was there as well.
@drattigan91 Because Oasis "couldn't" make similar music to Blur's Think Tank, that's what determines who is better? That is just some flat out terrible logic. I don't think overall popularity, record sales, or how successful a band became overall are good measurements of how good a band is, but they are better qualifications than yours...and Oasis kicks Blur's ass in all three.
Damon Albarn did a world music album called Mali Music, which in mediocre in my opinion, but then he did Gorillaz, so check them out, if you like this song a lot you'll probably like most of the non-singles off of the first album, and probably all of Demon Days (which is my favorite album ever so of course I'm biased towards it)
Some of alex's best bass lines are o this album and this is one of them. On the think tank album the band has done some of it's most remarkable work both individual parts and collectively.
This is simply an outrageous thing to say. It's a poor drum & bass album that will be forgotten forever!
I can mention 20 Blur b'sides that smash all Think Tank songs, tho' Ambulance is absolutely listenable!
Blurs' prime was 1992-1996. Give me Young & Lovely, He Thought Of Cars and Death of a Party everyday, Crazy Beat and On the Way to the Club- no thanks!
wtf are you talking about, damon albarn realized that music style was dead, so he decided to make the songs completely different to what they had been, using more electronic sounds, i love what damons been doing, and i love the experimentation used in on the way to the club, and it will not be forgotten forever...
Im sorry but if you regard "Think Tank" as a "poor" album then Im afraid you know fuck all about Blur. Think tank is actually likely to be Blur's best record. The reason why it is not as well known is probably due to Pop/Indie kid dickheads listening to it once, failing to understand it and then tossing it aside. Think Tanks' reputation grows every year. Sometime in the future it will be regarded as a genuine rock classic..
@augustusdes No, 13 was better, but only marginally. Think Tank is a masterpiece in it's own right (especially this song) but without Graham helping apart from the one track, it's just missing something.
Surely it's all about opinion, though. Regarding any album as poor doesn't betray any knowledge about the band whatsoever, as knowledge of the band and appreciation of their albums are completely distinct. Accusing people of 'failing to understand' an album just makes you look elitist.
lol i think its a great album. sweet song, out of time, and ESPECIALLY battery in your leg are among my favorites by blur. though you're right about 'He thought of Cars' that'd have to be alltime favorite. that or sing.
Does anyone know why this song is called "Ambulance"?

It is more of a Moraccan influence as opposed to a Malian one. Blur recorded think tank in Morroco.

That is so true!. I think they made beter songs than Oasis in the 90's too, but Think Tank is really an album Oasis couldn't make.
I don't hate Oasis, I relaly like them, but Blur are ten times better.
