me & my friends in 2002 scored some Phantoms tickets for free (no shit). we brought along some bum-ass white trash dude named Dunenun? i got this crackhead high as hell before hand with this cali-bud, then halfway through the game he breaks out this pint of Jack DS. proceeds to house the bottle then throws pretzels at this 8yr old girl for shits! well the Philly Phantoms are up 2 to 0 on the Trenton Meth/dealers when secruity comes down from the raffters to escort Dunenun out of the arena. HAHA
i worked backstage at the spectrum and got to go in both locker rooms and got to go to the stage area and see the dressing rooms.i was in awe thinking of all the superstars who walked down the steps towards the stage.Elvis,Frank Sinatra,Pink floyd, led zeppelin, the who,the doors, jimi hendrix,Queen the list goes on .the spectrum will be missed !!
unfortunately I never had the chance to see a Hockey or Basketball game at the spectrum but I remember going to see a Baltimore Blast philadelphia Kixx Indoor soccer game at the spcturum In 2003-2004. Great well miss the specturum Wish I would have seen a Flyers phantoms game there.
My father had season tickets for over 30 years to the Flyers. Section S, Row 6, Seats 3 and 4. Back then, the glass was only a couple of feet high and it felt like you were in the game. Since that girl was killed, the glass must be at least six feet high, you can't see shit, and you are totally removed from the game. I was at one of the '75 finals games and the Russian game. The Spectrum was a huge part of my childhood!!!
wasnt there another game in the 80s where the russians played edmonton? i heard messier slashed a russian really badly and the russians wanted to go home. anyone know about that? Year?
wasn't there another game in the 80's or something when the russians played edmonton or something, mark messier i guess slashed a russian really bad and the entire russian team wanted to go home. anyone know about it or when it happened?
Damn right about #1. Being a loyal true 'blue seat' Rangers fan, this was the only time I ever rooted for the Flyers...And I hold no grudges about getting thrown out of the Spectrum during that Rangers-Flyers game in 1985 after an 'unfortunate' incident....
I am going to miss the Spectrum. Even though I went to a bunch of Phillies games at The Vet growing up, I wasn't too upset to see it go. The Spectum is different. Went to my 1st Flyers and Sixers game there. Went to a bunch of wrestling matches there seeing Hulk Hogan defend the belt. Boxing matches and how can we forget that the Spectrum was the venue for Rocky I & II. I am going to cry when that building falls.
I was at the game when Hextall scored the unassisted goal...around 15 rows directly behind the net where it went in...the place went bonkers. The funny thing is..I got a call from my old college roommate at the last minute asking if I wanted to go since he had an extra ticket. Talk about fate. I saved the ticket stub for years..only $14 in those days.
"there goin home" the russians are leaving the ice.....cold war politics played out 4 years before lake placid. The flyers defeated the soviets that were considered invincable.
saw the Flyers, Sixers, String Bands and Sinatraa couple times, the old venues are the best. I got to see the Flyers at the Garden in Boston before they tore that down too. Gettin older sucks.
i remember my first sixers game with my dad in 1996 i was 6 iversons rookie season in the NBA now that was something to remember his first NBA point and i was there to see it i also remember going to the monster truck shows when i was younger to man they were good times im going to the sixers game when the play the bulls for the last time in the spectrum and guess what im going to run out on the floor in the middle of the game just to give ppl one more thing to remember it idk if i go to jail.
They're destroying the greatest Concert venue in Philly for a hotel. It's a building that made bands sound better than they actually we're. The Spectrum my not have all the neat shit the new arena's have but when I go to an event, I go to an event not to go shopping or take a nap. It is bullshit it's greed. And I hear their building a smaller arena somewhere else in Philly, it won't be the same.
YESSS da most intimidating fans in Hockey and TEAM.. The soviets r leaving...the soviets r going home. hahahaha philly is so great we are da toughest city w/ da toughest sports teams, and fans w/ da biggest hearts 4 our team. Da Flyers r da best historical team in philly back2back stanley cups champs!! Its bullshit tht theyre knocking down such a beasutiful monument w/ such history including the Italion stallion himself rocky balboa. Bullshit 4 fuckin stores and a hotel.Disgrace, Ill miss it!!!
