  • ため息のジョン・ファディスの至芸ソロ、激動の真のジャズ道を歩んだ風格・・・・なんとゆう黄金ペット、ペデルセンのベースも唸る #jazzm

  • when was this?

  • Two words: Freddie Hubbard

  • is it just me, or does faddis get his ass handed to him by ulf wakenius? faddis plays high notes and dizzy's licks, and then ulf goes on and plays melodically and floats over / anticipates the changes like cannonball.

  • ... hundreds of trumpetplayers would play better lines with better sound than him but he is able to play his lines up there and that's what people admire. he could play anything there, it's just testosteron, like people drive ferraris and lift weights. i personally prefer something else but it's ok with me ...

  • What a honor for the young pianist to have been invited to play with one of the greatest trumpetists ever;and what a honor what the great trumpet master

gave us as present,by introducing to ourseleves such a new talent. On this song I relax the most. The master played, and told and told me under this cloudy and pink color sky of my magic Buenos Aires:"Relax and enjoy this one, because the future of this one,is guaranteed"Of course I never ment to expres his words. But God knows it is wht I heard.

  • hij is een vn de bte allertijden .jon we houden van je geldig

  • Yep the comment homage to Diz makes sense because this was one of the more melodic offerings of Faddis and it was definitely in the style of Gillespie. And as far as style goes Faddis successfully imitated Dizzy (and very few could or can do that successfully).

  • Anyone who really knows and understands black classical music knows and understands Jon Faddis as a major contributer to this uniquely American art form. Saying he can't improvise is like saying Diz can't blow (or admitting you don't understand that Faddis' treatment of this particular tune is an homage to Diz, the tune's composer). But that's OK. Enjoy as much as you can. It's all good. As for that foolish "pressing some valves" comment, Jon kills the chord changes, the root of our music.

  • @jamesdiggs "Our"? It's not just "yours". Don't fight ignorance with more ignorance.

  • I really like the sound of Jon Faddis and he is the man vor the high notes, but his improvisation sucks. I'm sorry, but a few good ideas aren't enough on this level. He plays too much uncontrolled fast lines. That's maybe the way I play those lines, but he should be able to play real lines and not just pressing some valves and hopefully something comes out.

Faddis is a great leadtrumpetplayer, but nor an improvisator.

If you want, mark me as spam or give me thumps down...

  • @MrTrumpetalex1848 You're an idiot....

  • @MrTrumpetalex1848 I'd thumb you down for having the most awful grammar I've ever heard. P is so far from B on the keyboard, yet you insist to incorporate it into a word that does not require P at all. Improvisator? I'm gonna throw up.

  • @MrTrumpetalex1848 You are an idiot. "Hopefully something comes out"? You think he's just playing some random notes in his improv solo? It's called Bebop. There are many fast lines in Bebop. Bebop=Jazz.

  • @MrTrumpetalex1848 Are you f 'ing serious? Faddis "just presses some valves and hopefully something comes out?".....lolololololololololol

  • Hey All,

mistakedly marked disliked! LOVE JON FADDIS, HE PLAY EFFORTLESSLY SMOOTH. THAT CAT CAN PLAY! HE HAS HIS OWN VIBE AND STYLE! WISH I COULD PLAY HALF AS GOOD! Very few trumpet players can hit the highs that Faddis can!DOLPHINMAN8

  • Saw him a couple of months after I saw Arturo and also spoke with him, and he said to me I had to keep on practicing. Such a sweet man.

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 Why bother saying anything when it doesn't move you to do as such then, 'eh?! Boring to you is intriguing to another... check out the paying audience, for example. Good day, happy camper!

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 i see wut u mean though, at first i thought the same but then u get used to it and its an awesome tune, the reason it sounds weird is cause its meant to be a big band tune, listen to dizzy gilespies version with a full horn section then ull see why this one sounds so strange...

  • @AngeloMateus Did you see the small group with Dizzy playing the same tune????If it's strange - open your ears and learn to listen!!!

  • @gbgoul i meant this version sounds strange cause the chords are sounds weird on a piano...

  • Is there a recording of this?

  • nice !...

  • I want to toast his tight sound played by Schilke S42L-GP.

  • @gobujyou ??? His mouthpiece didn't play the sound -- HE played the sound. Just toast HIM!

  • @gobujyou Then why doesn't everyone use it to play high notes?

  • @gobujyou The equipment only does so much. Let's not forget the countless hours he spent in the shed.

  • Without Gillespie, Faddis he would be nothing.

In my town we call it "good reference".

  • I can't say that is true, and I can't say that is not true. I'm just going to say you never know man. Which chops like that I'm sure someone probably would of picked him up and foudn him.

  • @IncazzatoBianco - nope

  • @IncazzatoBianco he was known for playing in thad jones/mel lewis' and lionel hampton's bands and a few others before playing with him.

  • @selector111 A lot of musicians have good reference and a lot of experience.

But Faddis, who plays obviously better than me, had the best reference. As Colntrane, with the unwavering trust and blessing of Miles.

  • @IncazzatoBianco why are you trying to make it sound like you are bashing him, like he isn't good enough?

  • very gooood excellent interpretation

    is amazing

  • What mouthpiece does Faddis use?

  • the Schilke Faddis. Its an awesome piece- but not meant for much anything else than high notes

  • This is one of the best close up examples of Jon's chops on youtube! Excellent video of an amazing player.

  • Tonos altos:)

  • what trumpet is that

  • its a custom schilke jf model. (medium bore horn with a tunable bell that will set u back over 3k)

  • I think he just plays Shilke's

  • Does anyone know if this is a from a DVD that can be purchased? Thanks.

  • One of the best renditions !

  • that is benny green on keys

  • WOOOW !

  • que tal nivel y potencia del maestro jon faddis impresionante de veradd
