  • wow great lol

  • My late Mom dated Soupy in high school. He was the mainstay on TV after school. I would have sent green paper but Dad wasn't with it.

  • Words of Wisdom -

Soupy Says . . . . Please do not drop out of school . . . . . especially if you are on the 2nd floor!

  • He sorts looks like a young Mel Gibson

  • soupy was great i was only 12 years old in 1965 [born 1953] he made me laugh back in the day always rush home from school [forgetting all the pretty girls who like me ..beatle hair at the time] just to watch silliesness at it best .....................R.I.P.SOUPY MISS U&THANKS 4 THE LAUGHTER IN 1960S

  • TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU GAYLE1, SOUPY WAS CREATIVE AND FUNNY WITHOUT BEING VULGAR OR UNDRESSED OR CHEAP.

  • Love revisiting Soupy!!

  • This was supposed to be a kiddie show, but my dad would sometimes watch it and laugh with me...Dad got a kick out of the more adult humor that I didn't catch. All in good fun and a lot of viewers in all age groups loved his show. Todays television is so lame....RIP, Soup.

  • Soupy, thank you for everything you gave us. i understand howard stern was very sadand yhat in reakity he held him in,and sd thay soupy was 1 of his idols.he said that robin was the tomend the relationship aftr the piono bit .u know when howard cut the sTRINGS on soupys piano .

  • I was in the studio many times during the show, and always had a great time. Because the show had no audience, Soupy would always make reference to the crew. I was there because my father was the sound effects person on the show. Soupy once took out the blanks that were used in the gun that made the sound effect when the pie was thrown, and it was hillarious to hear just a "click" when the pie was tossed. I remember most of the crew as well.. RIP Milton

  • @rty1955 Rty, who was the crew member with the high pitched laugh? It's best heard during the part 2 of Pookies's Fairy Tales. Got an e-mail it is Lenny Messina, the floor director.

  • @joechristopher2 Most likely it was Lenny. He was always picked on. He was such a good natured guy. He was the floor manager standing right next to the cameras wearing his headset and half glasses. He was a short man and always smiling. Lenny worked on almost every show at Channel-5. He was very well liked by every director for his personality. The people that were on the floor were the camera operators, floor manager, sound effects person, and talent.

  • Too bad today's adults and kids don't understand him....

  • Wow, I remember his LA Show in 1978 I think and his words of wisdom one time was, "You show me a parakeet in a blender, and I will show you shredded tweet." LMAO, his humor was and always will be priceless.

  • i was a rabid fan who would stop at nothing to see this dude on the tube at noon in the 50's

  • What a funny man. I so appreciate his puns. LOL Honour students, honour the judge ha ha ha.

  • King of the Bow Tie!

  • He was great. He could ad lib a show. Show me a comdeian today that can do that and not use foul language for the whole show. I don't know any.

  • I loved that show. RIP, Soupy!

  • loved Soupy when I was a kid:)

  • I remember him and no heavy language.

    bless him

  • Soupy was a great comic and his show had a "cult following" among my generation. God bless and rest your soul, Soupy Sales -- and a pie in the face!

  • "The shortest route between two places is always under construction." - RIP, Soupy!

  • Don't play with your father's pipes - he doesn't smoke your toys!

  • I used to love Soupy so much, when I was a kid my parents bought me a 45 rpm with the "Do The Mouse" song and the other side was "Pachalafaka"

  • It's so good to see so many people remembering Soupy. He was so loved by so many people, he probably didn't even realize what an effect he has on us.

Here's to Soupy, the kindest , gentlest soul in Heaven! God bless you.

  • Words of wisdom = "Don't bite your nails - The carpenter doesn't."

  • Reminds me of a joke:

A bobby comes home after work and finds his wife in the bedroom with 3 guys. He says:"Well ello ello ello!" His wife looks at him and says:" Well aren't your going to say hello to me?"

  • Be careful when you cross the street, and you won't get that run-down feeling!

  • Iity'll always remmber traverse City & how you loved Chili dogs. thanks always for the joy of knowing you.

  • words of wisdom),,, remember children be true to your teeth and they will'nt be false to you .

  • Urban Legend has it that one of his Soupy Sez bits was...He drew the letter F and said"This is not the letter F. It's a K. So when you see F you see K" I never heard him say that.

  • He DID say it. I saw the show. It was an exchange over the word firetruck with Whitefang.

  • Chuck Barris copied a lot of his mannerisms, but not nearly as witty

  • Soupy Sales mere presense on a tv show was hilarious. He just had that ability.

  • funny man...

he made me look forward to lunch with soupy...

    very cool!!

    one of the best!

    sad!

  • How is this any different from the youtube of today?

  • Hey kids in Generation Y and X..This man was children's television. There were no Sponge Bob in those days nor Miley or Demi. They should take lessons from this guy. The children entertainers back in the day entertained and had some imagination. RIP Soupy...

  • Amen to that!

  • @Gaylel1 Interesting to see these clips. To those of us born in the 1960's, we only remember him as the guy from '70's game shows. And he was the act on Ed Sullivan immediately preceding the Beatles first appearance.

  • send those green pieces of paper in your mommys and daddys wallet to me kids

  • RIP Soupy. You entertained us after school and passed away just a few blocks from where we watched you in the Bronx. They don't make shows or entertainers like that anymore.

  • RIP Soupy ... you brough a lot of laughter in my life. :(

  • I loved his 1959-1960 show. I was 8 years old and he always told you what we were gonna have for lunch next week. That gave me time to get mom to make it for me. Usually something simple: A banana, PB&J sandwich, chocolate milk, etc. He would have his lunch WITH YOU! Of course there were their sound effects for each kind of food as he took a bite, and we'd continue our lunch while he went on with the show. I have nothing but great memories of him and his show. RIP Soupy.

  • Good bye Soupy

    He was the best

We would watch his show everyday and the next day at school we would all talk about it.

    He made us laugh!!!

  • I wish I could see clips of Soupy's old 1959-1961 show.I used to watch it avidly and was sad that his later shows weren't shown in my neck of the woods.

  • Has anyone seen any videos of Soupy Sales daoing the Soupy Shuffle?

  • RIP Soupy Sales. We appreciate you for creating funny moments in television history. You were also the first voice actor of the Nintendo character, Donkey Kong. He voiced the stubborn gorilla on the CBS cartoon series, Saturday Supercade.

  • Soupy was a legend. He will be missed by all. He was a big part of my childhood

  • A fun and funny man. Kept us all in stitches. We all talked about his show the next day at school.

  • we love u soupy. thanks for eveything...see u in heaven!!!

  • be true to your teeth or they will be false to you ....

tell that to my kids all the time

rip one of the funniest men in the world....

  • for those of us who grew up in those times this was where we got our sense of humor and double entandre(sp). i'm happy that someone had the foresight to record this. he will be dearly missed.

  • He was hysterically funny.

  • I love you..big kiss....Thanks Soupy RIP....

  • Good bye Soupy...Thanks for everything

  • every afternoon after school-we rushed home for this show!RIP Soupy!Great guy!

  • Soupy was as loved by our parents as by us kids in the 60's. I watched him in L.A. when I was a kid. Pookie was my favorite.

Oh, Soupy! We are going to miss you! Thanks for such happy memories and times!!

  • In the 60's, in the NYC area, we would hurry home from school to see Soupy. Later, we found out the high school kids and teachers were doing the same. Best show ever and the participation and comments of the crew made it seem like you were involved and "in" on the inside jokes.

    Goodbye Soup.

  • Wow, lost another piece of my childhood, but thankful that I had the opportunity to watch his show with my siblings on Channel 5 in New York. Good times, good times...

Looking back on the shows, I see it was just as much for adults as kids and his presence shall be sorely missed. RIP, Soupy Sales...

  • My favorite . . .

"Be true to your teeth, and they won't be false to you."

    RIP Soupy!

  • Words of Wisdom:

If you brush your teeth twice a year

    See your dentist every day.

    RIP Soup %^(

  • Rip, my old after school tv buddy.

  • R.I.P. Soupy. Pachalafaka!

  • R.I.P. Soupy, loved to watch you when I was a kid.

  • Rest in peace, soupy.

  • I feel so sad...another great entertainer gone from the greatest generation. I grew up watching him in Detroit. His show started there and I loved all those pies in his face. My deepest symathies to his family and friends. Rest in peace Milton Supman! :)

  • I Love & Will Miss You Soupy!!

  • R.I.P.Soupy

  • Rest In Peace, Soupy!

  • Note to Howdyhand-: Soupy was SUSPENDED for two weeks, in late 1965, for supposedly soliciting money from kids, after improvising a rant after finding money in an envelope a viewer had sent him. He went off the air after that, in late '65 or early '66. How do I know this? I saw every show Soupy did on WNEW in 1964 and '65.. I saw the Christmas time show he did that got him in trouble- live. I knew he was kidding, and I was only 13. Kids are apparently smarter than t.v. executives.

  • it was "those little green peices of paper , in your daddy's wallet the ones with presidents on them!" LOLOLOL

I really loved listening to Soupy on the radio between Imus and Howard Stern, back in the 80's on WNBC! He was so silly, clean and funny,, I once sat in a parking lot until I stopped laughing at his silly sweet jokes! I couldn't drive I was laughing so hard ,had tears coming down my face. I forget what he said, but It was always good.

  • Frank Nastazi: You gotta help me buddy! It's my wife! She thinks she's an elevator!

Soupy: Why don't you take her to a psychiatrist?

Frank: She doesn't stop on that floor!

  • Frank as Pookie: Man, there's a draft in here, and I hope they don't get me!

  • Show me a traffic light that is red for only two seconds and I'll show you a shortstop.

  • Soupy says at the ballgame I kiss my girlfriend on the strikes and she kisses me on the balls....

That one got him kicked off the air for awhile....

  • Hey I love these Soupy jokes. Great stuff. Wonderful.

  • He was probably the only TRULY funny kids show host.

  • SOUPY SEZ: You've only got one nose; DON'T BLOW IT!!!

  • BoSoxnation1972, as they say in the latex factory, "that's a strettttttttttccccccchhhhhh!"

  • SOUPY SEZ: Don't play with your father's pipes - he doesn't smoke your toys.

  • Classic show of a classy gentleman! Thanks

  • Premiered as Lunch With Soupy on ch. 7 in Detroit about 1954? or 55. What a funny show. My favorite was Willie the Worm the hypochondriac worm that lived in a house trailer (complete with venetian blinds) on the table - always coughing and hacking and complaining. "Do Not Touch" was the first thing I ever learned to read! This is the later nationally televised version - there is no gingham check table cloth on this set.

  • I saw this written on a men's room wall: "This is where Napoleon pulled his Bone-a-part".

  • Show me a French bakery with a bomb in it and I'll show you a Napoleon blon apart.

  • Show me a Russian Hooker without syphilis, and I'll show you Vladimir Put in.

  • Show me a giant rooster chasing a member of parliament and I"ll show you a chicken catch a tory.

  • Dear TV Fats, Soupy Never said that..Please let's not insult

Soupy and his fans with these vulgar parrets

of his"Words of Wisedom"segment of his show.

  • "Show me a little baby driving a race car---

And I'll show you a tot rod!!!"

  • Wow, do I feel old, Soupy is 83 years old today. Unreal! But what an amazing comic.....

  • Is he?! God bless Soupy.

  • Soupy grew up in my hometown - Huntington,WV - I have talked to him many times - Nice Guy !

  • Soupy says,

"Always be very careful with a little baby because he is only put together with one good screw!"

  • Soupy Sez:

Show me a man who has his feet planted firmly on the ground...

and I'll show you a man who can't get his pants off!

  • Soupy Sez:

You show me a judge that can knit...

and I'll show you a gavel that can unravel!

  • This is more Classic Soupy Sales I always enjoyed his words of wisdom, it always made the show what is was. Soupy was great.
