  • Not having The Moody Blues in the HOF makes it a flawed institution. Kinda like not listing Washington as a president. Makes no sense.

  • That's what I call -=MUSIC=- !!

  • wow didnt know chewbacca was a drummer GO CHEWY :p

  • did u listen to the lyrics the M B's are the best at it

    ?

  • saw or heard?

  • Why aren't they in the Hall of Fame? That's the same question I've been asking myself. I think even that's political. These very talented & imaginative singer/songwriters & musicians so deservedly need to be there, and like now. All I can say is this. If those scrotum headed Beastie Boys get in there before the Moodies, then I say it is political & there is no justice. And if that happens, then I'll never go to the HOF.

  • Is it me, or does Mike Pinder look like Jim Henson?

  • why aren.t they in the hall of fame

  • @934johno Because the people who vote for such things are idiots. Moody Blues, Rush, Kiss, Chicago, Yes, Heart, etc. - those all not being in just goes to prove it.

  • Great driving bassline at the start. Well-tought build-up of the song, fine crescendo's.

Moody Blues still tours, don't miss it.

  • Happy Anniversary! Released 38 years ago today…..1-19-1973.

    Well done guys!

  • whuy aren.t they in the hall of fame

  • I loved this Rock Group back in the day!

  • damn hippis

  • awesome song great performance they look like there having sex with their instruments there so into it lol

  • you got to love the drum intro on this song

  • No, they've done a lot of great rock. Ride My Seesaw, Fly Me High, Higher & Higher, The Story In Your Eyes, Steppin In a Slide Zone, Gemini Dream.

  • these guys make music nobody else can make Great band of all times

  • this is the only true rock song this great band ever did... & they Never did blues...

  • The drummer ain't messing around.

  • Epic bass line

  • my favorite tune by this band, I was young when music from this era was new and on the edge.

  • the absolute bollux when it comes to a closing Lp number., the Bizz

  • i love that song so much! XD

  • Awesome then. Awesome now!

  • @CUBALAW

Greme kicks ass on that drum kit

  • It's muhamad!

  • Great song but the sound quality sucks. Sounds like Am radio.

  • hope to see them at Burswood Perth Australia this month !

  • How do you know it's not Jesus? Ever seen Jesus in real life? I haven't. I have absolute proof of The Moody Blues. If Jesus actually lived, it would be wonderful. As it is, just the idea of him sets a wonderful guideline for people to follow...but

  • thats not jesus

  • Great but I wish it were a real performance, this is obviously a lip sync.

  • lol@MunstersBabe......too funny....saw them in Toronto in Sept/11.....3 rows from the stage......excellent experience.....GO MOODIES BROODIES>>>>GO

    !!!!!!!

  • this is still a great song for the times...rock n' roll!

  • @robertahartley1 the Moody Blues hit a peak with this hit playing huge concerts in madison square garden then they broke up

  • Such a very cool song, it never grows old!!

Vevo, on the other hand, you sure know how to completely ruin a good thing.

  • justin hayward...a cool cat then, a charming cool cat now.

Happy 65th birthday grandpa justin! (Oct.14th)

a grandma fan since 1967. cheers!

  • No, VEVO. I don't want to talk to fuckin Joe Jonas.

  • I had a dream that I sang this with Justin Hayward.........

  • I heard a Scottish dude sing this in full accent and it knocked everybody at the party out. Funny as, a good song!

  • nice song :d epic beards XD

  • Great Sound, Great Lyrics, Great Message...Brilliance, Heart & Soul.

  • intense boys...great song for the times...even for now...

  • thats drumming, the connection unseen by the eye

  • Thank you, Moody Blues, for another great song!!

  • I'm here watching a Moody Blues video, WTF makes these clowns think I'd be interested in anything by Demi Lovato?

  • Live would have been better than lip synced, but still a great song.

  • Excellent song from the Moodies back in 1972, hard to believe it came out almost 40 years ago.

  • Hell of a tune !!!

  • 8 people arent singers in a rock and roll band

  • brilliant birmies

  • You know your band is awesome when Jesus is playing drums in it. LOL!

  • Greme you rock buddy

  • you dont just listen to the Moody Blues....you experience them too

  • This song is NOT in the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame.

    Need I say more.

  • I really figured that the official VEVO channel (that you have to watch some dumb ad for) would have a lot better sound quality.

  • Cool Then, Cool Now.....

  • I was very lucky to meet Justin Hayward about 20 years ago. If want you hear some REALLY crazy situations, just let them to talk about being on the road. He told me they were getting ready for a concert, them some disturbed individual fell through the sky-light ceiling roof window . He was terribly cut up from the glass and though the band would have all the answers to his life. Needlessly he say, the band was saken by this.

  • So that's why Mike left the band: he was getting bald while the others couldn't get more hairy.

  • justin hayward is the one!!

  • @sunflower7431 Hawkwind.

  • WOW .... ISN'T THIS SO MOODY ...... BLUISH?

  • @frizzlefrap Moogy Blues.

  • One of the best songs of all time. I was 8 when this came out and my older brothers would listen to the Moody Blues and have loved thier music ever since.

  • Wow - hair flyin' everywhere! So cool to see the Moodies during all the different generations on YouTube - from the 60's - 10's. They rock even in their senior years! Thank god Justin & John are not sporting beards in this vid, but love their sexy hair. The guys are playing their instruments to a climax & out of breath at the end! Awesome performance.

  • 7 people are singers in a top 40 band

  • @mrgfoti

HA HA HA HA HA!! Laughing my fucking ass off. No, not LMFAO, I am seriously laughing like I've lost my mind.

  • Why the advert for Cream Ibiza? Not sure that many people looking for the Moodys would be into that stuff.

  • So many times i'd go smoke up out of school playin this shit

  • Jesus on drums

  • 1972 - I was 17 in my first job - graeme edge had big hair - I had big hair - 2011 - I haven't got big hair - wonder if he has.....

  • @79bigalo I saw this band in 2011.. Graeme Edge still has big hair..it's white, but it's still big. :)

  • is it just me, or does the guy on the Sax look a little like Jimmy Page?

  • Justin Hayward chords on the guitar were amazing, and John Lodge singing the strongest on this one.

  • @IrisMG-I agree with you about the drummer! Now I think of your comment, everytime the drummer is shown. That being said, I think this particular video of the Moody Blues is outstanding. Great sound and the guys were fantastic. I can't believe why 7 people dislike this!

  • @kat3dev Probably were people used to seeing songs that are written by others. They do not know talent when they see or hear it.

  • Simply the best.......

  • Take the ads away,we come here to enjoy a song ,,then this ad ruins it

  • among the greatest songs ever

  • @bigkittysmile

Agree, never realized til NOW how great this song IS

I saw the Moody Blues on their Final Tour,,1995?, here in New Orlerans,,descent crowd,,played the songs VERY close to the album sound,,thats rare in any R&R band,,I notice this song has sooo much music going on,,and perhaps the MOST instrumentals going on than any other R&R song

Tremendous talent. ( pot gave some help)

but I've left rock, now into Pettersson and Schnittke classical composers ck both out

  • Actually, Animal looks like him......

  • Never understood why they weren't a even bigger hit then they were

    such a interesting music.

  • ..a LassieSongsUSA!...nearly 15 Trillion in Deficit?..Conquer The User!

  • great video

  • The guitar Justin is playing looks similar to the one Alvin Lee plays. Anybody know? Just curious.

  • @fogologo100 yep, it's a Gibson ES-335, same as Alvin Lee plays.

  • Audio's really grainy. If only VEVO & UMG used their money to clean up the audio & make it crystal clear. Guess I'd be asking for way too much.

  • Justin Hayward may have soiled himself making this video.

  • I too am seeing them this Fri, May 13th at the Hard Rock...I can't wait! Grew up with them....listened to them all my life...now I can retire with them! LOL

  • Gonna see them this Friday, May13th. At the Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas...Justin, John, and Graeme....wish Ray Thomas & Michael Pinder were with them....but I'm sure the show will be great...I can't wait!!

  • The Moodies hit #12 in Billboard, 3-17-73. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • I'm seeing John, Justin & Grahme tonight in New Orleans. I love watching this video, especially how Grahme attacks the drums. Yes, the connection between Grahme Edge & Animal from the Muppetts is True!

  • @VValkyrie You won't be dissappointed!! I saw them this last Thursday 4/28/2011 in Austin TX...they were AWESOME!!!!!

  • @iappreciategoodmusci I saw Moodies the night before on 4/27/11 in New Orleans.

  • @LestanBlackwood Two Words (names) Kurt Loder

  • @MoodyGirl67 U R 100000% correct! And I thought I was a Moody know it all!

  • @wojack1000 if that is true, it certainly doesn't fit in well with the song. What they're saying is: "If you think the world turns around you (or, put another way, if you think 'it''s all about me'), please tell me that you're just a singer in a rock and roll band. On the other hand, if you want to participate in a movement that's bigger than yourself, and you have the power to reach millions with your music, don't you dare tell me that you're just a singer in a rock and roll band."

  • The beginning up to 0:43 makes me think of Sonic the Hedgehog in Green Hill Zone. O3O

  • Sorry all you Hayward lovers, but the coolest guy in the video is Mike. The long hair with the bald spot, the beard, the shirt, the mellotron, the pushing of the buttons to switch sounds, the mic too far away from his mouth, fantastic. I love the sax sounds from the Chamberlin during the main riff...awesome. Mike Pinder deserves a statue.

  • Why is it that people do not think cosmically anymore? I will turn 64 soon, still maintaining contact with key 60's friends. We once gathered in my dorm room at Clarion University to ask the large questions..what is the meaning of life?..Is there a supreme intelligence?.does it matter, anyway? Many from my generation "sold out," literally, and few young people are continuing the journey to understanding, except to embrace religious dogma. We were once liberal visit FordWilsonShankleChannel

  • I've read that The Moody Blues where uncomfortable with people thinking of them as Gurus, so they came out with "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band".

  • What an awesome song from a fantastic band and great memory of early 1973 when this was released as a single. It doesn't get any more hard charging than this! The combined energy, pace and visual of this song is just like great sex. Can't wait to see them live at The Keller in June. :-D

  • This was one of my favorite ROCK groups of the 1970's!!!--They were GREAT!

  • It disgusts me that MCA Universal owns the master tapes of this awesome band

  • wow...rock n roll doesn't get much better than this...

  • kiss my ass commies

  • do we need to be on lauden to be accepted?

  • Wasn't Denny Laine in this group?

  • I heard on KLOS in the 70's that a japanese band had done a cover titled' I'm Just A Ringer In Rock In Roll Band'

  • 7 new borns

  • Who knows they certainly should be in the Hall of Fame. It is such a travesty.

  • @kurtnj63-well put.

  • Now I know where Jim Henson got the idea for Animal...

  • So very far ahead of their time!!!!

  • Hey Coldplay, try to match this!!

  • Love the drummer! He looks like Animal from The Muppet Show!

  • @IrisMG With the Moody Blues debuting with their first album in 1965 and this piece back in 1972, while the Muppet Show started in 1976, it isnt hard to see that a few characteristics are pulled from the band... The drummer isn't the only one, however... Enjoy the Mystery!~ >:3

  • @ToiZophai From '67 on, everybody looked like this.

  • @IrisMG Saw the Moodies last night.... the drummer, Graeme Edge, just recently turned 70.. 70! And he danced around the stage... Love the Moody Blues!

  • @IrisMG always take the drummer home ; )

  • @RONJAN2 ty

  • @IrisMG

Animal was patterned after HIM: Graeme Edge!!!

  • @IrisMG that's funny, i always though Animal looked like him....lol 1love

  • @IrisMG - backwards! Animal looks like this guy!

  • Comment removed

  • @IrisMG Lol that's because in the Muppets they try to portray people like him. I can't wait for the Muppet Movie to come out soon. Yea he's mad hairy. Cool song!

  • @scidamenge Heh well it seems my comment struck a nerve with a lot of folks. 33 thumbs up! Just my observation! I didn't even pay attention before but the sax player even looks a little like Jim Henson.. ha!

  • @IrisMG The Guy holding the Baritone Sax is Ray Thomas the Flautist, funny thing is the actual sax sound on this recording is Mike Pinder jamming on a instrument called the Chamberlin, the sax was just for the video effect. It will be the last recording they use the Chamberlin on and will move to a synthesizer.

  • @kenc1161 Now that was interesting. Thanks!!

  • @scidamenge RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • one of the best songs ever and that drummer was great

  • Yes!

  • How can anyone forget this song when they made it clear that they were people, not Gods...though my lady cried for days...I finally convinced her that it was OK, it's just that the Gods inspire and manifest themselves through them. I'm NOT joking, they are and always will be that awesome.

  • some things u need to learn on ur own

  • @Syzygy60 ------Some of the things you learn on your own are ----PAINFULL...

  • Maybe 10 songs, in the course or my almost 50 year life, have immediately seized me with the feeling, "This is one of the greatest f**king songs ever!" This is one of those songs.

  • 6 new borns

  • I miss Mike Pinder.

  • testosterone conquered, what a great song...

  • How can we understand Riots by the people for the people Who are only destroying themselves And when you see a frightened Person who is frightened by the People who are scorching this earth. Music is the traveller crossing our world Meeting so many people bridging the seas I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band. We're just the singers in a rock and roll band. I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band...
  • @lhcarterTY I was trying to figure out what they were saying :)

  • I'm just a wandering on the face of this earth Meeting so many people Who are trying to be free And while I'm traveling I hear so many words Language barriers broken Now we've found the key And if you want the wind of change To blow about you And you're the only other person to know, don't tell me I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band.
  • Ah but...that's why Justin wrote this song...to let everyone know that they are "just singers in a rock and roll band".

  • Our philosophies have led us to here. This website. We are all searching for one that can satisfy the human and the spiritual. We are here because of this band. The greatest we know. They are human however. It's up to one of us to expound- and expand- on what they have taught us. Long live love as the Moody's know it. God has blessed them- let it bless us also.

  • @TheHawkeyemark I came for the bitches & the beer :)

  • Graeme Charles Edge is just a beast in this one!

  • Comment removed

  • Wildest dreams vid is hilarious! Good vid!

  • excellent bass just excellent *****

  • These guys and groups like Jethro Tull and Supertramp can't make it into the Hall of Fame but Ricky Nelson can? What a joke.

  • @hughrhodes Ricky Nelson! I agree! And...to make it worse...DEVO is in too!!!!!

  • @hughrhodes Is that true...Supertramp and Jethro also not in Hall of Fame? I didn't know that. I thought every famous band EXCEPT the Moodies were included by now! There must be something against Prog Rock Music! Who decides who gets in anyway?

  • the music IS the original album version, it's not a live performance... also, near the end, you don't see anyone whistling, even though you hear it plainly; ...lipsync all the way!

  • GREAT SONG..SO UPLIFTING....DAMN....

  • It's a music video, not a lip sync.

  • Orgasmic ending? Haha amazing song.

  • @Cray407 Pre-orgasmic starting, so why not? Heh-heh-heh...

  • i dont see where moody are not playing like. the orignal sound track at the end shows whissteling, and clapping and yelling, ..I persume this was a live act.

  • My god!

I can't believe the number of people who think this is actually live music.

Its lip-synched people! Nobody is jamming, its all on tape, they are miming

  • i was told ray doesnt play the sax on this song, just for looks. anybody know of this?

  • @KENO1950

    Well...he does look good! LOL!

  • @KENO1950 Don't know for sure but the fingering on a flute and sax are similar, it is not outrageous to believe he is playing the sax.

  • @KENO1950 According to Mike Pinder, it's true. (the sax sound was coming from the chamberlain.

  • @KENO1950 In the studio version there is no sax, only synth sax or horns. In some live performances however, Ray MIGHT have played sax on this song to add some extra wall of sound. Whenever I saw them live though, there was no sax. As much as I admire the production of synth horns on this song, I think the br
