Trying seaweed salad and coconut soda

My granddaughters had seaweed for lunch today and then when we found seaweed at the beach, had a great time giggling about it. They like it. I'm going to try it soon too. nice idea.

Seaweed is a veggie, and a tasty one. I don't know why so many people think it should taste "fishy." I mean... Rice grows in gooey stinky slimey water. Does it taste like it? And mushrooms grow in... well... we know what they grow in. Do they taste like it?

I suppose maybe if the fish were using it to wipe their butts..... LOL

This seaweed salad is used in a recipe we make. It is great. Now that I know it is available, I may very well make the recipe on file.

There's a place by me, Wonderful Buffet, that uses what looks like your seaweed salad, in their sushi. I LOVE SUSHI!! They put it along side the wasabi and ginger as a garnish. Maybe it's just something they prefer people not to waste? I don't know, but I always grab a bunch of it - along with the ginger, which is very good for the tummy!

@MrRobertsNetwork I have had the sushi with te bright green stuff in it also..and I am betting it is this seaweed salad now that I think about it. I enjoy ginger also....I dont do wasabi on my sushi though.

@dreamer72fem LOL - I'll be 51 tomorrow woohoo! Back when I was about 22/23ish I lived in Guam. The Hilton Hotel had incredible sea food buffets, & I'd never heard of sushi before, let alone wasabi. Growing up in So.Cal. I knew all about avocados & I scooped up a gob of the delicious green stuff beside the sushi, sat down, put a fork full in my mouth!!!

OMG!!! Talk about a public introduction to wasabi - LMAO! I had no idea it wasn't guacamole. Sure I'm not the first or last to make the mistake

I had seaweed cooked in a chinese in London years ago, it was really good!!! Not sure about the coconut drink though, glad it was a thumbs up of both!!

So tell me, does the seaweed salad taste fishy? The seaweed stuff (gag) I bought (gag) tasted REALLY fishy. I do not enjoy sushi so I dunno.. I am glad you liked it. Sesame ginger dressing is my favorite, so I would probably love the dressing.

you are a much better person than I am Stacey.....just the thought of "seaweed" salad sends all sorts of images through my brain...lol! but the soda does sound really good....I love anything with coconut and I am going to try and find some this weekend....we have a ton of natural food stores all around where I live....but I am afraid I am gonna have to pass on the salad....I will stick to Wendy's Apple/Pecan salad for now :)

The Seaweed salad didn't look like I imagined it. I like Coconut Water (I get mine from the Spanish Market), but I've never tried the soda kind.

Looks good. I love Thai food and different foods. Tonight I had Rigatoni with a huge meatball most is left for tomorrow.

That looks delicious, What I have discovered is really good, it is Chinotto, it is a herbal and fruit soda that tastes something like Coca cola but different, it is delicious, it is only .99 and I get it when I have a picnic lunch. hv a nice night!

@dreamer72fem Yes it is made by Sanpellegrino of Italy, they also make a lemon one, you don't see it everywhere I have only found Chinotto at our IGA store, but the lemon one they have at most grocery stores, it comes in about 10 oz cans. The variety of things you get nowadays is so muc hmore than they had years ago,, years ago it was Coke, Ginger ale, cream soda, orange soda, root beer and gthat is it haha now I am getting thirsty haha have a goo dnight!
