So if we took out the thing that the stoppers hit on the pedal and move it closer to the stoppers.... we could actually go faster on the pedal or am i going somewhere else with this?lol. Either way, hope everything works out with that. It looks like it will.
I did the same thing, actually works amazing and its alot better than the actual pedal. I just took the "curly" wire off my actual rockband pedal so I didnt even waste money on the wire, just some magnets and the reed switch and a sodering gun.
someone tried that on the scorehero forums. they said they got a lot of mishits that way. Another guy did that by putting another set of magnets on his other bass pedal and said it worked pretty well.
I first bought a Pearl drum pedal from the local music store, and placed the magnet in the "hammer" then the reed switch in the base of the original pedal quit working. So I basically did the same thing as dethfactor except using one from Radio shack. I duct taped the magnet to the bottom of the pedal, use books to stop the pedal from hitting the reed switch and taped the reed switch to the base of the pedal.
My current problem is that the reed switch appears to be frozen closed, and I don't know why. I'm concerned that the magnets field is too strong. I don't know enough about reed switches to know what to do to make sure I have the "right" kind of switch.
$15 for that pedal is a good deal, i was just searching ebay for a pedal for exactly this purpose lol, if u make a tut please post a link, im interested in seeing it
With one of the pedal replacements, on their site you can buy a 2-female to 1-male mono adapter that fixes the problems with using bass drums at the same time
I was glancing at the pedal for a minute, my friend owns the game, and I didn't see how it 'sensed' going down. Very nice to know it's done by a magnet.
I was looking this up because my friend's pedal just broke! Nice Prototype! I sent him the link. check out my 'RF Unlocker' Prototype on YouTube! :)
My friends and I did the same thing when our kick pedal broke! We hooked the sensors onto a Pearl pedal, and it works like a dream. We then mounted a metal bar to the front of the assembly to keep it from tipping, and latched it onto the set itself to keep the pedal from sliding.
That sucks that you/your friends pedal broke. I'm excited to get one put together and then have a double bass setup. I'll end up eventually build 2 for the pair but untill then.. You should take some pics of your rig and send me a link or something.
some sort of circuitry that completes a circuit...
i loled :P

did u just connect the mono plug wires directly to the reed switch?
hock3ydud3 3 years ago
yeah connect the pos to one end and neg to the other end of the switch. I'm working out a tutorial at the moment.. should be up this weekend.
