Wes Welker is a great receiver but if he had the same level of speed as the other top receivers he'd be the best bar none. If he catches a 50-yard catch with the average cornerback or safety 5 yards behind him he'll get caught. He just doesn't have that burning speed that once he's in the open field he's gone like the other top receivers. Same with kick returning he is a great returner but lacks that extreme speed. He runs a 4.65 40, that's what an average outside linebacker runs. Quick but slow

Guys a beast, most of the time going in that middle to catch a ball is just suicide he handles it VERY well.. I think a lot of other players would be paralyzed if they where to catch that many middle passes like that, that safety pretty much gets to judge if he wants to knock you out or not.

I love watching Wes Welker. He's a lot like Steve Largent; Team player, great route-runner, amazing hands, good run blocker, gets most of his yards after the catch. Just a great player. Makes me wish we (The Seahawks) had him. He's living proof that you don't have to be 6'3" with a 4.4 forty-time to be a successful NFL receiver.

I really gotta disagree with you on this one. Not on his moves, but on his hands, which I think are incredibly consistent. He led the league in receptions in 07, you do not lead the league in that stat with just decent hands. Surely he doesnt have the octopus-hands of Moss, at 5'9" its not possible, but he's damn good at catching the ball with his arms and body.

thats who slot receivers usually line up against lbers, or a nickel corner. They use Welker alot like a receiving runningback. The whole point of having a good offense is to create mismatches. Welker would actually do well if he got some carries like a RB too. So you are saying runningbacks who go against linebackers aren't that good either? Short routes which has him going where usually the linebackers are and he gets tons of yac. some of his passes are like extended handoffs.

I love watching Wes Welker. He's a lot like Steve Largent; Team player, great route-runner, amazing hands, good run blocker, gets most of his yards after the catch. Just a great player. Makes me wish we (The Seahawks) had him. He's living proof that you don't have to be 6'3" with a 4.4 forty-time to be a successful NFL receiver.

I really gotta disagree with you on this one. Not on his moves, but on his hands, which I think are incredibly consistent. He led the league in receptions in 07, you do not lead the league in that stat with just decent hands. Surely he doesnt have the octopus-hands of Moss, at 5'9" its not possible, but he's damn good at catching the ball with his arms and body.

alright im a pats fan, i can say that another 16-0 season is highly improbable, that may never happen again. but im also a realist and i know for sure that the pats will make the playoffs, miami is not going to repeat last years season, jets arnt mature enough and the bills are a fluke. the patriots mught not reach the super bowl but they will win atlest 10 games and fight pretty hard in the playoffs.

thats who slot receivers usually line up against lbers, or a nickel corner. They use Welker alot like a receiving runningback. The whole point of having a good offense is to create mismatches. Welker would actually do well if he got some carries like a RB too. So you are saying runningbacks who go against linebackers aren't that good either? Short routes which has him going where usually the linebackers are and he gets tons of yac. some of his passes are like extended handoffs.

A few more stats to add. Moss has played with 3 of the top 10 rated QBs in league history - coincidence? Jerry Rice only had two. Every QB has put up by far their best stats with Moss on the team. Randy Moss has been the leading scorer on the two highest scoring offenses of all time! Randy Moss even has the best PRO BOWL performance of a WR ever! Take it for what you will.

ok buddy tell me this. out of Terrell Owens, Larry Fitz, Steve Smith, Michael Irvin, Lynn Swan and Marvin Harrison, when have any of them had bad years, or seasons where they were no where to be found. hmm never. they produce every year and dont take years off like moss took off 2. Pro bowl performance means nothing and moss has only been to 1 superbowl and lost because he was shut down every game of the post season. Moss was wide open in the Superbowl... but Tom Brady couldn't get him the ball (offensive line problems, if I recall correctly...)
Randy Moss had one bad season his first 11. That's not all that shabby, is it? He had QBs that got sacked over 150 times in a season! Offensive line problems, yet again... Randy Moss still averages more TDs per season then any of them. Actually Jerry Rice last 9 seasons of his career were pretty lackluster - but he was getting older, right?

1. Playoffs=His nightmare
2. very 1 dimensional
3. he should not be considered great because he does what he should be doing. hes like 6-6 and jumps over guys 6'0 and under. congrats. Guys like owens and Rice never really had guys opposite them unlike moss who has around 2 or 3 very good guys everywhere he goes except for oakland when the team needed him, he was shut down to like 600 yards one year, and just over 1000 the next

yeah when rice was coming out of his prime. Moss is not a top ten all time and maybe a push for top 5 or 10 currently. Seriously dude, in 05 and 06 (i checked the stats) moss had in this order 1005 yards then around 565 yards with only about 9 combined TD's. again, nowhere to be found. U lose again asshole

Moss is in the top 10 best all time. Plus how is it Moss' fault in Oakland he didn't get the ball enough. His first year in Oakland I think he had 60 catches while Porter had 74 and Jordan had 70. Norv Turner just didn't get him the ball enough.

Moss is not even top 20 all time first off. and its his fault because he dropped too many passes and if u have QB problems i guess u gotta get open faster dont u. Welker had his first 100 yard receiving games this year. He is more of a threat then someone that has over 70 100 yard receiving games??? Durr.... Try to figure that one out! Moss is primarly a deep threat, he isn't always going to get a huge amount of catches when he is pulling away the double teams so that Welker can reap the benefits up in the middle.
