This song was used in an Alpha course video. There was a mime artist doing a routine to this song. I wish I could find that version. It was this vocal, though.
I also came from a dysfunctional family and it took a long time to recover. Thank you for this song it is like a soothing balm. I am now a senior citizen and this piece of music is like a big hug from my Lord ....Thank You again and God bless you and your ministry.
This song reminds me of how I feel about my father. He didn't care about my mom he just left her with me I never knew him and mom doesn't know who he is.
It's too bad the person who made the video did not spell check.. and use proper punctuation. Guess that's the problem with being an English major... but the message comes through regardless.
I feel that you have given a message like no other I had an upbringing without my father and when he left I use to look out of the window every day for four months to see when he would come home
Thank you for sharing this music video with us! We have used it for our music blog project (using other videos as well) at aanbiddenglorieus.blogspot.com
I had a distant father and this song helped me to realize that my real Father is all I really need!.
I had his tapes and even got to see him in concert as a teen he was great and his songs really touched my heart as I related to many of them even before I knew his testimony.
i remember hearing this song in concert when i was little after he told us the story of his father. i was probable like 10 and it made such an impact on me and my whole family this man has let God use him in some AMAZING ways! :)
Beautifully done! God speaks thru our brokeness. After we've been broken then we're blessed then we are used for the Kingdom! Others who are broken can then find peace by the message that God is love and we too can be mended and made whole! Thank you David Meece for allowing the Holy Spirit of our Lord God to fix what was broken and to then share it with us.
God loves us all! It doesn't matter who you are, it doesn't matter what you've done, the love of God is there for everyone!
I just listened to David Meece's testimony on Focus on the Family. It was amazing what David went thru as a boy with a mean alcoholic father. When I was growing up in the 80's I listened to David's music and never realized he had gone thru all that.
Anyone reading this should listen to the pod-cast of David Meece on the Focus on the Family website. It would help anyone struggling with forgiveness of an abusive parent (or not having one).
I am blessed by David's song/songs, he always sings from his heart and always gives glory to our God. He uses his talents to share his experiences and how God can turn everything around for good and His glory.
David is an amazing singer and pianist. It is a privilege to hear and watch him share his gifts for the glory of his savior Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!!!
this song gets to me on such a deep emotional level, mostly because it reminds me of my real father, i first heard it right after he left when i was about 6 or 7 so it just brings back lots of great, yet sad memories, thank you sooo much for sharing this beautiful song!
David Meece, wrote and plays this song. This song relays his deep feelings he had for his own father who was an alcholic growing up. So this song relays his feeling about his fathers chair, and how when he became an adult, who also go a chair. He decides to make a difference and a lasting memory in his own life about his chair. Then he takes it to a 3rd level about our Father in Heaven, and how he has a chair:) This song really can be heart felt:)
I don't think David Meece is so great.I just like the message from his song which is about the Father. Jesus is the one who is great. He is author of salvation. I won't comment anymore but, I just wanted to say God bless you and Jesus loves you.
does anyone know the chords to this song, ive known it for a while looked for the chords and havnt got the time to work them out, anyone have them - i'd love to sing and play it!
This song makes me cry EVERY time I hear it. I remember hearing this on the radio for the first time when I was 8 on the radio. It made me so sad cause a boy didn't have a dad. Thank goodness we have a father in heaven who never leaves His chair. :)
What beautiful words from David,as always. It is amazing how he sang these songs without crying everytime. (except for Mother,Muffler,Mozart and the Beattles)
I am a big David Meece fan - this song is my song for the week (or two/three?) - listen to it at least 10 times every day - thank you so much - it is a great blessing!
@SIMONCYRENE I haven't had internet for a long time. I will still work on it. I got to talk to David at a church in Tucson Az. He is great. Simoncyrene.

I love David Meece. I met him once at a signing.
Just an average guy with a love for God.
and wonderful music.
this song has got to be totally inspired by God himself.
Hey Simon, do you happen to have or know anyone who does have
a song by Kenny Marks "White Dress" ? it's kinda like this in theme.
I used to have his album but don't anymore. If you can find it would you
