  • More than perfect

  • soo cute... so mellow.. love it..

  • This song is the reason my wife said "I do".

  • i fucking love this film, and Mr Ripley such a terrible but exciting character, fell in love with this interpretation completely, and Gwyneth plays quite the same character in all of her films, on exception this new one contagion... oh and also locaqtions are terrific wish I could find those places sometime

  • ...Sarah Vaughan did it welll and Matt Damon too!! Great!! thanks for sharing!!

  • bonjour, hello

an other version of "my funny valentine"

  • some of these scenes are not in the movie!

  • good movie, good version by mr damon

  • nice song, nice and very worth seeing movie

  • i love this fucking movie sooo fucking much<3

  • nice versione i m a singer i m hope my version :)

  • Lovely song.

  • There a couple scene in this music video that do not appear in the movie. I suspect that the music video was made earlier in production of the movie and that the music video may have included some scenes that were cut in the final version of the film.

  • the contex? Tom Ripley is afraid because police and Marge are on him, and he kind of purge his felling with Peter, is the part where he kind of get out of the closet with him thats why Peter gay as well hugs Tom. i will say the context is " I know how you feel, because I feel it too" thats what i think the context is.

  • ending of this movie was somehow European...

  • @ackoaquarius5 What do you mean?

  • why did glee have to cover this -_- perfect by matt

  • Dreamy and sad...

  • Stayyyyyy

  • I love it. and yes i'm crying right now...

  • super,super

  • @spookyfbi8, isn't the scene with Peter at the second or third to last scene in the film? It's toward the very end.

  • @VFDbranch13 The context? I think it was when they were in Venice together and he was feeling pressurised about having to be interviewed by yhe police again.

  • GOOSE BUMPS PEOPLE! GOOSE BUMPS!

  • GOOSE BUMPS PEOPLE! GOOSE BUMPS!

  • Wow, I always thought it was Chet Baker who did the vocals on this! Kudos to Matt, he is definitely one very versatile actor and musician(?)

  • This is when Dickie takes Ripley out to the jazz club (if you remember, Ripley was not a fan of jazz, but studied up on it so he could convince Dickie he loved it). They had been there all night, when Dickie put him on the spot to perform... to his credit, Ripley nailed it, even though he was a tad nervous to begin with. Pretty sure it is from the Directors Cut.

  • oh god, this is beautiful

  • Damon defined his range with this film. The very Talented Mr. Matt Damon.

  • Love this cover <3

  • Dark - creepy, interesting and suspenseful movie - love it ! this was a surprise when Matt Damon sang this.... well done movie...loved the graphics at the end of this clip...

  • Dark - creepy, interesting and suspenseful movie - love it ! this was a surprise when Matt Damon sang this.... well done movie

  • Love love love The Talented Mr. Damon....

  • Matt Damon! Who knew? Awesome!

  • Very good movie, I still have not reconsiled whether Tom has Gay tendencies or simply... Eccentric. Jonathan

  • that seen is at the end you have to watch the whole movie i cant ruin it for you

  • This was a great movie... I wish it had gotten a Best Picture nom, a Best Director nom for Minghella (RIP), a Best Actor nom for Damon...

  • I've always liked this version a lot. It's very soothing and Matt's voice is just right for it. There's a sadness in the performance.

  • That film is so sad at the end :'( but I love this song, I had no idea matt Damon could sing 0:

  • one of my favorite song :)

  • check out matt damon in the movie Team America;)

  • @TahraSonia HE'S IN THAT??

  • i love this movie and this redo of chet baker!

  • I loved the movie and the soundtrack as well.

  • Oh the atmosphere.... saw this movie in Karlovy Vary...it was amazing....

  • is he really singing?

  • @TheThroney Yeah

  • Peter was Tom's true love I think. Tom knew he was trapped in his own lie. His survival instinct was his strongest instinct. His most tender moments with Peter were just before the deed, probably his tenderness died with that act. One of the best and stylish movies ever. Love it.

  • BRILLIANT MO...........

  • I fucking love this clip !! !!!!

  • so he's really singing?

  • I like the book so much better but i love this rendition of "My funny valentine".

  • MATT DAMON IS AMAZZINGGG IN THIS FILM!! seriouslyy :) AND OMGGG yeah, peter was so in love with Tom SERIOUSLY i mean he last words about tom, soo just yeah, he looves him, Tom I think did love him back, not dickie lol xD they shudda been together :( lol

  • OMG!!!I'd been looking for this forever!!!Thank u so much for uploading!!!

  • Yeah not a great singer but maybe my favorite version. What can't Matt not do? Talented Mr Ripley was an engrossing never forget it kind of movie and Matt and all actors were great. Even Jude Law was fantastic.

  • I love this movie ♥

  • Matt is definitely not one of the great vocalists of our time, but I've always loved this version. It's so vulnerable, and somehow that makes it seem so much more meaningful.

  • This is an amazing post, thank you.

    That movie is incredible.

  • Matt, Matt............ You always enchant me :)

  • Beautiful beautiful beautiful...

    The talented Mr. Damon.

And the Talented Mr. Minghella, who made some of the most haunting movies I know.

  • This film creeps me out, so bad.

  • My favorite movie of all time.

  • great! matt is handsome

  • i love how low and tender his voice is, it makes the song so much more personal, like you really know that he feels that way for jude law's character.

  • @laughingdoll yeah but the deal is he is almost identical to chet baker, who by the way, is admired by the character played by jude law. listen to chet baker sing it on the album of the same name or on youtube and you will see how it is eery. and creepy. that very record dropped out of tom's bag i think

  • I really really liked Matt in this.

  • He play murderer, but worst of all he killed absolutly beautiful , full of live character playing by Jude Law , that I will never forgive.

  • Very good video !! I like very much... thank you... Kisses :)

ps: excuse-me for my disastrous english ! @^@

  • One of the best movies I have ever seen!

  • smooth vid

  • Hey, thanks for posting this video up! Kind of depressing that Jude Law's character had to have such a nasty ending.

How could you, Matt Damon, he was adorable.. and they would've made a nice couple too. >/

As if that wasn't enough, he has to go and do the same thing to his next love interest... Peter who is NORRINGTON from Pirates of the Caribbean!

I really am obsessed with this song though.. this one and 'Americano' which they also sang/played to in the movie. ;0)

  • Wow, you seem pretty vocal about that lol.

Whatever you say, I certainly hated his character in this movie. Good acting, but his character sure was a nasty person.

    D-:

  • There are a couple of pieces of scenes included in this music video that were ultimately cut from the film: the scene with Tom and Marge, as she's lying in bed; and the one where they are standing on the dock in Mongibello and hug. How I wish these deleted scenes had been included on the DVD release.

  • Love this! aha

  • That hugging scene is at the end when Tom talks about the dark secrets he keeps locked behind his closed door to who he really is.

  • very nice sensitive playing AND singing.

    Excellent performance.

  • Peter hugs Tom at the end...in the room on the ship

  • wow, I've had this version in my music library for around 8 years now and just found that of all people singing its Matt Damon! Thats a shocker

  • He is doing his best Chet Baker impersonation actually. i mean he is good, but Chet's version is much better obviously.

  • @Hingamp ... Have you actually seen the film? I think you'll find it's meant to be slightly dodgy singing because the character Matt Damon is playing is a total fraud and that style of singing fits in well with the main character (Ripley)

  • Matt did a good job singing this song. I remember going to the theater to see this movie, it's a big sleeper hit. It didn't hit me until the end that the beginning was the ending. Paltrow will go through life knowing that he killed her fiance, and Ripley/Matt Damon will go through life being alone. This movie is part of a series of Books called the Ripliad. Just wiki the movie name and it will give the rest of the books to this story.

  • As surprising as Michelle Pfeiffer's singing in The Fabulous Baker Brothers. Amazing talent out there with stars that don't let us even know. My favorite song from this movie.

  • u know how u think u cant love someone more. Then BAM! They sing! Ah!!

i agree wid the first comment on this vid. this really is better than sinatra's version. big thing for me 2 say.

  • wow..love this version..its like a lullaby!

  • Matt Damon is offically my most fravorite actor, EVER!

  • he sounds so much like Chet Baker - truly a chameleon actor. well done, Damon!

  • i love this movie, any body know were can I see that on line?????

  • I love this song too, especially the film...

  • woww! =D i love the part when he sings

" stay little valentine, stay "

    he is truly an artist!

i soooo wanna watch this movie = (

  • But don´t change a hair for me...

It hurts how much me loved Dickey.

    like love-song-lullyby

  • yes indeed...it is his voice! and i love when he sings tihs song in the movie! i'm melting.

  • is this matt damons voice?? if it is... WOW

  • yes it is,hes such an artist isnt he?

  • WoW im actually amazed, i actually prefer his version out of all of the others, i love it!

i don't care what other peolpe say i love his voice! even though he doesnt sing.. he beats all of the other singers!

  • This movie was great. And this scene is magical. I wish I could visit this jazz club :)

  • I hate Tom. He's such A LITTLE GIRL! lol

  • AAHHA yes

  • this movie is so great and so disturbing. Although I find the book to be quite more disturbing as Tom is a true sociopath, whereas in the movie he's not.

    Anyway, really great!

  • Peter asks Tom if he would like to go to Ireland with him cause he has a summer home or something over there and Tom says no because he thinks it is better to stay away from Peter, in order to not do him harm.

  • The fact is, (it's quite well explained in the book) that he really does miss Dickie and the life he used to live with him in Mongibello and everything. He is scared that the same thing that happened to him with Dickie happens again with Peter, who he really appreciates.

  • I read the book, and there's a part in it when Tom is really afraid that the police is going to find out what he did and he brakes down and cries while he is in Peter's house. Of course, Peter doesn't understand a thing and Tom says that he is crying because he really misses Dickie.

  • That scene with Peter Smith-Kingsley holding Tom in his arms like that is a deleted scene because it doesn´t appear in the movie at all.

  • he`s singing shift the great Frank Sinatra`s edition...He`s version more soft and elegance..and it let zoom out all beauty of this song..

  • Can someone point me towards some more romantic, quiet (vocal) jazz like this. It's beautiful...

  • Check out the Chet Baker album that shares a title with this song. It's a classic.

  • @LifeNeverEnds try Chris Botti, Steps of Positano

  • This is such a good movie. I have a freind who Refuses to see it for some reason

And that is the scene just before Tom Stranggles him.

  • great. so touching

  • awesome movie

  • " If anyone can tell me the context for the bit where Peter is hugging Tom like that, you win teh internetz because I can't seem to find that scene in the movie, "

I am very convinced that this scene is right before Tom stranggles him, in the cabin on the boat.

  • Ya, you are correct. Its at the end of the movie, right before Tom strangles him.

  • ooop, never mind, not him.

  • Yes, he really can't sing (I mean really!), but he's so cute and so sweet and is a good enough actor to convey sincerity and intelligent enough to know what the lyrics are about and doesn't repeat Chet Bakers horrific error ("..don't change your hair for me") and there's no melissma--always a plus--that I say with the Bard: "I cannot wish the fault undone, the issue of it being so proper!" PS - The band is excellent.

  • even though he's not the greatest signer in the world, somehow this really is my favorite rendition of the song. the quiet jazz, the atmosphere, and it totally fits in the movie. Great scene, and great song- you did a good job picking pieces of the movie to go with it too.

  • Actually, I can't take credit for choosing the scenes. The vid was already on the DVD put together like this. All I did was upload it.

  • oh, man I have this dvd so I've probably seen it before and just forgot... thanks for uploading anyway though :)

  • @ryoaska1 Check out Chet atkins version :)

  • @enakrium You mean Chet Baker?

  • @rvic11 yes I did.... woops :P

    Thanks for that rvic11

  • @ryoaska1 Bah! The best version is performed by Chet Baker ;)

  • @rvic11 Agreed!

  • @ryoaska1 I wholeheartedly agree. One of the best movies 99. And that's saying a lot, so many amazing movies released that year.

  • @ryoaska1 mine too actually.

  • @ryoaska1 mine too actually.

  • awesome simply awesome

  • Matt Damon...superb actor

  • Simply excellent movie and Matt's nice interpretation of this song

  • one of my all time favorite movies

  • one of the most beautiful scenes i've ever seen! it'll be on my mind for ever, even if i never watch it again.

i fel in love with te song, first in this scene, second with chat singing.... but the movie ads a little something to the song.... Damom and Law together are simply perfection...

  • This movie was perfection as well. The casting was impeccable, and I can watch it for days!

    p.s.

Was steve coogan in this movie? LOL

  • Aw, what a darling cute voice! He did a lovely job at this!

  • lol if you look at jude law and matt damon at 2:06 to 2:08 it looks like there about to laugh hehe

  • my fav version.

  • Hes actually quite good singer hes a lot better than oliver reed in tommy

    He was Shit !!!

  • is damon singing about jude law? thats not right....

  • Yeah, Tom was obsessed with Dickie

  • Tom was gay, you know

  • Matt Damon singing My Funny Valentine to Jude Law is all kinds of good. That's about the best thing in this movie. As a matter of fact all movies should have Matt Damon singing My Funny Valentine to Jude Law. Even if they're not part of the plot, they should just show up for this and then leave.

  • lol, good shit.

  • @cinephan That sounds like the single greatest idea ever concieved for the Movie industry.

  • @cinephan lol... agreed! :]

  • i cant lie...this is byfar one of my fav love songs....

  • wish it was longer. and him not straing at jude law when singing it. lol.

  • this is the most relaxing song in the world.

matt damon is the best singer that doesnt sing, haha, (better than some that do)

this is honestly the best version..

makes you just wanna chill, and relax..

    greatest love song ever.

    stay little valentine, stay.

  • It was a good movie. I'm not a Damon fan, but he played this well.

  • Mi Amor mI DULCE aMOR

  • so chill song .

  • Se la dedico a mi amiga peruana Elisabeth,en un dia tan especial...

    un abrazo

    paquetuveas...

  • you know when he says "its your figure..." what is he saying after that?

  • I may be wrong, but I thought he said "Is your figure less than Greek?"

  • yep that's it

  • Good old youfuckingtube will be wiping this off as soon as they stumble across it, as they've done, in the last day or two, with another copy. So enjoy while you can

  • That scene looks like it might be when Tom is playing the piano and talking about locking his past in a room in the basement. I could be mistaken though, because I don't remember it being in the actual film, so it might be from a scene that they didn't use in the film. I don't remember that part where Tom kissed Marge's hand either, so perhaps that part was cut from the film too? On the dvd I don't think there are any actual deleted scenes to watch, otherwise they would probably be on there.

  • Very nice

  • Comment removed

  • i agree :-)

  • sorry sinatra...this version is better than yours...

  • you are crazy :))
