Brilliant song. It was because of this album that they were banned from airwaves and television. This song, which is the censored version, shares the same mantra as Public Enemy's "Fight the Power".
Most of their albums were instant classics and DJ D.O.C. DEFINITELY has a history in Korean pop culture.
I hate a communism. chorus the world doing PGPG roll over and over. trouble world X2 the world doing PGPG dont take care a powerless commoner the world doing PGPG roll over and over.the world Is many thousand million WON small potatoes? If so,give one milion WON to me? HA! what are we that have no money? Do we have to get vicarious satisfaction? Do you think our circumstances? If you think, is that only this situation? Are you full and warm? Are you(politics) our country people?
The rich is always rich. The poor is always poor. How change is desperately impossible.Definitely we cant. If i dont have a money, invivable hell world. If i dont have a back(a sponsor), invivable hell world. A good man find it hard to make a living. many pains have for a good man. Did i misknow? Really that, i am so sorry. But the world have many mistake. My heart seeing that corruption get hurt. Is our naton a democracy? If i dont talk this speech and any speech, our nation is not a democracy.
Ppi-geok ppi-geok is korean onomatopoeia , sound when almost broken wood chair support people. This used to be anywhere , the hardly maintaining structures, company, politics, organization,etc...not frequently word, some negative word. Except only really chair sound or structures.
they cant keep. After time passes by we realize they were all talk. We gotta change the system, we can't just wait for someone to come change it for us. The poor gets trampled over and over. And that is how the world revolves.
Rapper Sky : Every night at 9 I turn on the news, it ain't comedy but its hilarious as hell. All the politicians fight one by one and soon becomes out of control. I have a pet dog named Mangchi and everytime I'm watching the news I'm embarassed to look at my dog. I dont know or care whos right or wrong, because in my eyes they all look the same.
Jaeyong : After all that fighting they apologize to each other. They are toying with us and make promises
Ppi-Geok x2... Brilliant song and BEST LYRICS EVER!!!! BUT it was all trash talk toward Korean Gov't or other superior position person.. This CD was sold over 1Million copies?? close to that and Most people loved it.. I am sure most KPop fans keep this CD in somewhere.. I still listen it in my car and still it's better than 09 KPop Raps.. DJ DOC FOREVER!!!
someone told me the last track on their 4th album was bashing on blacks...i sure hope not I been listening to them for years and i sure dont want to give up on their music ^.^;
It wasn't bashing on blacks. They were bashing other rappers in Korea and say the "N" word. It's kind of hard to understand though because it's in Engrish.
This song is equivalent to Public Enemy's "Fight the Power". Not in magnitude, but the message to the government and the treatment of the less fortunate.
Damn.. I love this song.. i used to have the explicit version where Haneul says "좆같은 세상." Instead of "어질어운 세상." So upset that hard drive crashed one me... if anyone has it or know where i can find it can they send me a PM...
DJ DOC had alot of hate from korean people because of this song. DJ DOC opened the door for korean rap to be more broadly wrote than just love, money, and fame.

우리나라 민주국가 맞나요. 만약 이런말도 못한다면. 아무말도 못한다면.
그런 나라는 민주국가 아녜요. 난 콩사탕이 싫어요!
This part just makes me cry for what's happenning back in Korea.

djdoc 앨범가사에는 콩사탕으로 되어있네요, 콩사탕이 싫어요 라는 말에 공산당으로 알아들은 북한군에게 살해당했다는 이야기가 있으니 검색해보시길^^

k, i'm writing something because it seems like there is a misunderstand of this lyrics. They are talking about badly corrupted policians in Korea.
DJ DOC is Korean, but they didn't say anything that they hated Korean public. ;)
machobug 3 years ago
First verse talks about Korean politicians who (literally) have fist fights in the Congress.
Second verse talks about the staggering economic gap between the rich & poor / censorship.
Third verse talks about the corrupt businessmen and their embezzlement schemes.

This is the edited/censored version btw.

This was the big fuck you to Korean's perspective and the injustice that was blanketed by the few.
Tiger JK spit a similiar concept during this time with his "do you know hip hop".

I remember hearing this song a long time ago and wondering who did it. Anyplace I found it always labeled it as "asian rap", haha, how generic.
When I found out where it came from, I bought the CD. Thanks for bringing back some memories!
