  • This vid shows how a studio version can blow compared to a live performance!

  • KILLER live performance, you can't go back to the original after hearing this

  • KILLER live performance, you can't go back to the original after hearing this - and jesus what stage presence. David when you gona tour again mate?!

  • This is pure Bowie !

  • I didn't know Bowie did live performances of this song. This is pretty cool.

  • love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @UTBESUX It's not a matter of putting a low quality clip on here. The actual dvd was of relativly poor quality. Twas the 80's after all.

  • Still have the VHS of this fucking amazing 2nd glorious night in beautiful Toronto,Canada...met 'em twice seen him when you were all in diapers,or better yet your parents hadnt even met yet kids...but enjoy..he left us much to talk about...Gemma Inc.

  • Good job EMI, you managed to put out the worst quality clip, aye this isn't corporate profit loss ya know? You can upload stellar quality. Wow, corporations, never cease to amaze me.

  • No La Bowie did 2 shows on that amazing weekend in TORONTO,CANADA DAVE'S FAVE CITY ON THE PLANET....she began to wail, scary monsters, super creeps!

Email me lover...you are the hottest !

    Gemma

  • No Gemma David played the St. nite and Sun. nite in Toronto 40,000 fans per evening...the Canadian National Exhibitio0n was in the background and at 11:pm the nightly, traditional fireworks went off in perfect time with the concert(s) end.

Absolutely amazing as I had already seen David 22 times by that weekend...

Luv on ya babe....email me sexy...

  • Thank You Yury...I intone the same feelings exactly ! ! !

Not to speak ILL of the Dead.

Yet, MJ only wishes he had the Talent BOWIE, has in His Little Finger...SO TRUE ! ! ! ......LONG LIVE BOWIE.....................

  • @supersonicbird11 I didn't care so much for MJ's songs. He was a pretty good dancer though. Thats what'd always impresed me most about MJ,.. was his dancing more so than his music. Anyway, MJ was probably the more popular,.. in a mainstream sense for sure. Wana bet that they wont have Bowie displayes in Wallmart stores when he passes on ?

  • David Bowie RULES

  • you are stupid!!!!!!

  • ahh.. the 80's....thank god i was not born then.

  • love this song!!!

  • Looks like a fantastic concert. If anyone could perform like that now, I'd start going to live music again.

  • I have adored this man's music for the past 32 years -that's Scary!!!

  • @samandstu I am not even 32 years old lol

  • this came years before wacko jackos thiller which showed how far bowie was ahead of his time♫♫♫♫♫♫

  • @yuryiodizadebee

yes both songs are about monsters, so i guess jack0 just copied bowie.

  • @sussussudio1894 yes i guess wackojacko probably did. you can never accuse ♫♫♫bowie of plagiarism.‹(•¿-)›

  • i'm sure he does except this is carlos alomar..

  • Nile Rodgers kicks ass!!

  • timeless!!!

  • tira fuori il tuo mostro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • weird

  • I heard a three year old little girl singing the chorus to this song at a grocery store last weekend. That was Scary.

  • @hendodabest that's awesome!

  • LOl....thats funny

  • @hendodabest Could have been worse she could have been singing the chorus to Cracked Actor

  • @hendodabest that's awesome :D

  • @hendodabest That's not scary, that's awesome! Her parents are raising her right.

  • i love his voice!

  • Thia was on FlashForward last week! FTW!

  • bowieboards. yuku. com

so i would really love you if you checked out this website, we are really trying to get it to grow

  • awsommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • aphexvancouver: You are absolutely right about the taping of the concert. It was indeed done in Vancouver on the dates you stated. If anyone doesn't believe you have them check Wikipedia

  • Very True~ Saw him in Seattle right before this

  • lucky!

  • This actual video is from the Vancouver , BC, Canada show (Pacific Coliseum) taped 2 nights in a row Sept 11/12-1983

He also played BC PLACE August 9 a month before this. I was at all 3 shows.

The coolest motherfucker in music even at his most commercial.

  • @aphexvancouver I wish I'd seen this tour. I had to wait until the Glass Spider tour for my first Bowie experience! I think I've seen him 13 times since!

  • this is great... really., an explosive moment. . .

    i`ve made a version of who can i be now. . .

  • i know we all get old but your ziggy was a good look.youve lasted ill admit but god you were soooooo hot as ziggy.

  • Zsakosfrodo, and the Pope is Catholic. So what's your point?

  • So are you and we dont complain :)

  • nah

  • you are stupid! This isd from the Let' s Dance Tour in the 80"s, and he is dressed in the style of the day. I hate it when idiots post stuff. By the way his beautiful wife Iman might disagree about being gay too.

  • No its live in Toronto for sure...1983 and the Exhibition was on for 2 weeks...should see the ferris wheel and etc. in background at some point...there was the Sat.nite show n the Sunday nite show..we attended both...Yah Vavy!

  • I've heard quite a few different Bowie versions of Scary Monsters ( And Super Creeps )

    Love NIN's cover too.

  • with the exception of the horns, this sounds pretty much like the Scary Monsters version. Vocals are identical and even has guitars by Carlos Alomar.

  • An interesting version. I prefer the original, but still find the charm in this interpretation. To this day he still reinvents his songs, just listen to his Live by Request version of Let's Dance.

  • DRAMATICO

  • The Dog has fertilized your yard and left to sleep in the manager where he's scaring all the animals because when he smiles dreaming he shows his teeth. David, I suggest he's your dog. Fix the problem. Clean up the mess in your yard and see that the sheep get fed.

  • Saw it over 8 times from Europe to my hometown T.O. Cda....what a summer that was....compared to Diamond Dogs summer in '74...close on the Amazing Summer meter!

    Best ya flakes ,

    Dr.J.J.

    T.O.

  • Bowie is not my first music love- but he is up there with the best - I caught this tour at Milton Keyne- brilliant - love this song

  • scary hair

  • I attended the serious moonlight show in Berlin. The best concert I've ever seen.

  • wow! <3

  • i LOVEd when he did this song with Trent Reznor <3 omg

  • this was a great tour

  • Saw him in Vancouver on that tour. What a night, First it was The Tubes then Peter Gabriel.

  • mi padre, mi dios, mi idolo, mi todooooo

  • thanx 4 the video Leroy...i like David Bowie too he's awsome...but i have to admit i like Joan a little bit more...lol

  • what a night that was 2 nights in a row in beautiful Toronto,Canada...the very La Bowie sexy city in Canada...they always get 2 shows....Thanx for this memory,we wenr swimming all day ,both days then attended David's shows...Hmm

  • the great carlos alomar !

  • He has complained that young groups don't play long enough at their shows. Bowie sang three hours nonstop when I saw him in New Orleans, 2004. But we still wanted more!

  • I don't think David Bowie ever takes on a tour without thoroughly rehearsing it first. I'm sure he's a real slave driver to his backup band and vocalists but wether it's a big production like the Glass Spider tour or the more stripped down Sound + Vision he never disappoints when it's time to take the stage. A great showman and true professional.

  • esto es estremecedor, aunque la mejor gira de BOWIE ha sido GLASS SPIDER esta gira tambien fue fuera de este mundo

  • Cripes I still have this on VHs from the muchMusic bradcast from I think 1987 in Toronto television...the only city to show Dianond Dogs concert twice in one day in June 1974 just before we left high school for the summer...Now what other city had 2 Bowies Dogs shoes in one day people...NONE!

    Toronto,Canada....yes people we live!

  • C'mon everybody, just admit it. He was largely bad in the 80's (Let's Dance is pretty good, the rest stinkers) and his stage theatricality got just really uncool, as evidenced here. Once we made it to Earthling, though, he was back! Heathen is a flat-out masterpiece.

  • Love Scary Monsters, so what I mean is from 85 to 95, those are bad years.

  • I love you

  • Love him!!!

  • hes smoking hot

  • You guys! I love those strands. Hair and all, I think he's a very handsome -- and TALENTED -- gent. And I like "Tonight" and Never Let Me Down" a lot. So shoot me.

  • I remember thinking that his hair was ridiculous even back in 1984 when I first saw this vid. What was he thinking? Excellent concert though.

  • Let's hope he had a "bad hair day." Or maybe he had been out in a storm... But I guess we would probably have to blame the eighties ;) Love him anyway (with or without hair..)

  • The hair, right. I guess I agree, it aint pretty so to say. But still, he is David Bowie, so he can do whatever he wants :D He is still great!

  • Really good trousers though...

  • Let's just say that the hair works with everything from the dancer faces to poor always-flexible Mr Alomar's dumbing down of Robert Fripp's original guitar work for the song in creating a hilarious, foot-stomping Bowie parody.

  • they funked up the music for a live gig,its lost its edge its more pop now.i think carlos guitar was rock/pop and as this clip ends it sounded like power staion (before they started).was tony on drums for this tour

  • had this entire concert on vhs video in 1987-88 but i lost it...must have watched it 100 times, although the tour was in the summer 1983,two shows in his beloved Toronto, and we went both nights! Always you Dave!

    J

  • Fantastic song!!!

  • Ever hear Ashes to Ashes?

  • Of Course but Im just talking about Bowie's general 80s output. Ashes to Ashes is possibly Bowie's greatest track but essentially represents the last gasp of his true greatness. Believe me im the biggest Bowie fan there is!

  • blah blah blah

  • If you were the biggest Bowie fan there is you'd realize that his classic creativity reemerged with Tin Machine and has stayed ever since. Bowie has only realistically released two bad albums in his day, Tonight and Never Let Me Down.

  • tonight is not that bad of an album imo...

  • Actually I dont think so either, but its definitely not his strongest. But it does have some excellent tracks on it, Blue Jean, Dancing With The Big Boys, etc.

  • Wholeheartedly agree, Nectar. Tin Machine was actually a brilliant band which spun Bowie back onto the right path. Honestly, there's some great songs on those 2 studio and 1 live album. Check 'e out.

  • i think the statement ' Even Bowie went bad in the 80s!! 'is derivative and repetitive, it's not that good but it's not horrible. I like the 80's bowie.

  • He didnt go "bad" in the 80's,but it sure wasnt as good as most of his stuff before that.

i think 80's bowie was pretty good.

not great, but better than average ;]

  • Awesome video!

  • Hey, I saw the Serious Moonlight tour! This is great to see it again...sort of! Thanks you!
