I use an auto transformer from a ford on my plasma cutter and it works great.

I tried it did not work. Some pople claim it does. The voltage has to be pretty high to ionize the fast moving air between electrode and tip. The stun gun works flawlessly. A single discharge starts the cutting. You can also add another relay and just leave the stun gun on while cutting this restarts the cut when you are cutting grate for example..
