@thintz12.... Thanks for responding so quickly to these comments! Could you please please please do a video using your Lincoln Buzz Box??? I think your narrative videos are the BEST!!! A stick weld video by you would Rock! I already asked you this on one of your other videos, maybe you already replied. Thanks again.
thintz12..... You do beautiful welding abd your camera work couple with the detailed narration was A+!!!! Thank you for this. It gives me an idea for a new cart for my new Tombstone buzz box I pick up tomorrow. Question: Any reason why you left the top of the cart "open," thus allowing sparks and dirt to fall down on top of your tools and welder? I try to keep all dirt, slag and sparks away from my welders.
@ColtDeltaElite10mm While building that cart I was constantly running out of places to clamp things so thought a grid-style top would help. and while it does help with clamping I think when I do this again I'll go for the solid top.
@NewMetalWorker. Its too bad you didnt use your AC-225 machine to build the cart in this video. That would have been fitting! Again, excellent video however! Thanks!
@ColtDeltaElite10mm I'm a complicated person. Also, if I stick welded this thing something awful might have happened. Too much thinner material for me and a stick yet.
@theinfotwins.... Welding over zinc plated or galvanized pieces of metal is not a problem with proper ventilation. Its like when yer spray painting or a girl using hairspray... One doesnt breath in the fumes! For welding zinc plates stuff, position yerself upwind, have garage doors open or better, weld outside and use a small fan to suck the fumes downwind. My dad has been doing that way for over 50 years! Hes 91 and still tickn. Ive deen welding zinc plated stuff for 23 years! No problem.
@TheInfotwins I wire brushed the mounting plates a bunch and then had a large fan blowing clear air across me while welding to be sure none of the fumes came my way.
@riecard Nope. The gas the MIG uses is an argon/CO2 mix. It's inert and forms a shield around the arc. that's all it does. For cutting you need and oxy-acetylene setup, one tank of each with a torch and gauge set, a whole different animal.
Ok I'll wait and get the mig set up. I am tempted to get the 225 only because of the low cost and reliability of it. But i could see myself in the end not using it much if I got a mig set up later so I'l just be patient and get the better set up. Maybe i'll get back with you before i buy. Some guys prefer Miller or Lincoln. Some guys are happy with HF junk for a while. Not sure what to get yet but again thanks for the input and look forward seeing more welding vids.
thanks for the input. I am contemplating on either getting the used Lincoln 225 for $200.00 or just save up my money and get a Mig set up like the one you got. I really would like to just have one welding machine as my projects will be just on occasion and I really don't feel a need for 2 welding machines. If all you could have is one welding machine what would it be ?
@riecard If limited to one machine I'd go with the MIG. Keep in mind that going with the MIG also means a gas cylinder and that can run over $300 to get started, buying the cylinder and a fill, then around $30 for refills after the first time around. Nothing is free but I'd go MIG if I could. I love the stick welder for some reason but do most of my work with the MIG, now anyway.
@riecard is much more versatile the 225, with it you can drill or cut metal with only increase the amperage. NEED TO no gas and is very durable, I have one and I madea lot of things, trailers, fences desks, doors welded beams etc
What kind of welding machine did you use to build the cart ??? Theres a Lincoln 225 for sale here at the local pawn shop for $200.00. I got no welding experience and want to get my first welder. Is the Lincoln 225 a good choice for general purpose welding ??
@riecard I actually used my Lincoln ProMIG 180 for most of the construction on this cart. that is not to say the 225 could not be used. I will use my 225 for the next project because I need more practice with my stick welder in reall life situations.
The Lincoln 225 is one of the most popular welders out there, mainly because of the general users who love it. Like anhy machine it has its limitations but usually not in things we wold be doing anyway.
Very nice, great job, good video, gave me an idea or two

Hey, Nice cart! I finished my Mig cart. I used 1" angle also. Pretty pleased with the results.
Mine is alittle too big, but I have plenty of room on it for my Mig and my Oxi/Acetylene with the bottles and a milk crate for tools.
Really like your videos, Thanks Dave

One last question : If i get the mig set up does that mean since I have to get a gas cylinder that I can also use the gas as a cutting torch ?
