I miss the glory days... You can keep it now. I've ended up in a town that is like Rockwall USED to be - I just had to move to Arkansas to do it... Class of '81.
I used to live in Rockwall. When my job transferred me up to yankeeland, I was sorely disappointed. But I have always loved Rockwall. The people there are just out of this world. You just can't find a better bunch of folks. I plan to retire in or near Rockwall.
as a rockwall/Texas native that's not collage educated I would like to say mostly its classism here. the rich stay in there big homes by the lake ''which im glad'' and us working class people stay in old rockwall but now with all the carpet baggers coming in they feel the need to push us out. we don't fit there squeaky clean image of the trimmed lawn bedroom community.
I have seen this town go from a small close nit community that peoples family's knew each other for years and help each other to a snobby spoiled image obsessed pit.
I live here for 10 years total, make less than $50K/yr. (under poverty) and fit right in with everybody, never had problems. If you dont like it here than move your racist ass to White settlement.

If you do your homework, you will also find the educational level in Rockwal is pretty high compared to the surrounding areas. Right as i was thinking of how i was bringing (my recently raped wife) to a country which is way more violent than japan and also of all the liberty i enjoyed in japan while i was there for four years, I see a cop drive by me, over the highway overpass that i am next to ( and waiting for the light to change, while looking at ants and flowers and trying to calm down after paying for an oil change (they forgot to put new oil in at all) after i had my steering column (1400) replaced, after...
...my car was "driven like it's hot" while i was living in my car in dallas while doing all the sound for a movie for (let's just say) the only person to use 4k film and my car was stolen. so for a while i was living in the bathrooms of the complex and hiding this from my employers. After hearing Leaving on a midnight train to georgia, after finishing the project and pensive about the reasons why you should not entertain a clients request to have a drink, since.....
it lost me an 85,000$ a year job that i desperately needed to satisfy my wife and her family in japan, so that she could come and live with me. (((damn...))) I, as I am listening to my ipod shuffle (jhon lennon - I'm looking through you (previously Niko, these days ((in which the last line rang in my mind, "please don't remind me of my failures... for i have not forgotten them." as i had not told my wife yet of loosing the job oportunity)) ...anyways...
...and continues driving west on what seems to be the exact shape of a beautiful vangoh-yellow-brick-road that even curves as it goes up a hill and out of site down a hill in the distance. As i see him drive away, my immediate feeling of, "he's going to turn around and harass me unlike japan where i was free, and why am i bringing my wife to this god-forsaken terror-pit" dies away.
I've lived here for over 5 years and have never encountered racism nor are the residents unintelligent. Almost everyone I've encountered in my development is college educated and are not Texas or Dallas natives. Rockwall has some of the nicest people around and I've convinced friends who wanted to move out to the suburbs to relocate here due to the superior schools and that atmosphere. Years later, they do not regret it.
