was this not also on the Ten Years of Harmony compilation can't remember the year must've been early 80's? that would make it before the good vibratioins comp?
There was a camping spot just north of Ensenada called San Miguel...we used to go there in the 60s...one year in 1967, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was set up there...along with alot of surfers from Whitter, Santa Ana, Anaheim...Was this the San Miguel in the song?
"Dennis was probably more musically with it than me or any of other guys in the whole band; he was one of the best singers and he wrote really good music... I never dreamed, when I used to know him as a kid when we were brothers, I never dreamed he would grow up to be a great person in music...He wrote FOREVER, he wrote SAN MIGUEL...He wrote some wonderful songs." (Brian Wilson, 2007)
why didnt this make the sunflower album?? i mean most the tracks were skrapped apart from 'add some music' but this was certainly just as good as most of the others?
There Are two towns Named San Miguel in Central Mexico: One is "San Miguel de Allende" in the state of Gunajuato and the other is "San Miguel el Alto" in the state of Jalisco.
DW was so very proud of this song...one of my most treasured gifts, was Denny's personal acetate reference disc of this song that he gave me as they were wrapping up the recording. RIP, DW. You are truly missed.
I was so glad to hear it. I only wished that Carl Wilson's voice was louder on it. Dennis sang Carl's song, "Angel Come Home" . The 3 brothers were very close.
A great one Dennis wrote and Carl sang, as far as I know. Dennis got the inspiration from gazing at the label on a bottle of Mexican San Miguel beer. Don't you love these guys?
This isn't a very well known track of the BBs (unless you're a fan, of course) but, man, Carl rarely sounded better, the percussion is awesome, & the trademark harmonies are brilliant. Thanks for posting - Jimbo

Carl could've sung the phone book and it would have sounded great.
