  • I'd rather be a Mr. Nigga, than a Sucka Nigga.

  • Isn't this a tribe called quest song?

  • Check's with 000,000's ,

Trade all across the globe ,

    Watch got 3 time zone's.

Mos is one of the best lyricists ever and his flow is incredible.

  • Fuck Obama! I'm voting for Mos Def!!!

  • REAL HIP HOP! MOOOOS DEF!

  • geez. does mos def hate white people?

  • @XbladeDragon WOW! Speaking the truth about the negativity you receive from another race makes you also hateful? Hmmm.

  • @VictorRamonethefirst whats so hateful about that question, don't go assuming things.

  • @XbladeDragon That is all I was saying to you; don't go assuming things. Speaking the truth is not hateful nor funny even though at times it can be both. That's all I'm saying.

  • @XbladeDragon Lol he's talking about everyday racism and you ask if he hates white people. Nigga please.

  • @sondanielshah racisim transcends white people being dicks to black people

  • i grew up in a black neighborhood, and grew up in housing projects my whole life. Just because we're white doesn't mean we don't struggle, pinoytuner.

  • Is this a slight parody of sucka nigga by tribe called quest?

  • @anaven27 no shit...qtip is even in it. and i wouldnt call it a parody, more like a continuation.

  • @anaven27 it's not parody, more of a homage.

  • it's actually from Black on Both Sides but sick track all the same

  • Great song!!! It kinda sounds like casino night zone in sonic which makes it even better!!!

  • YESS!!!! <3 Puertorican agreeing with this! we all deal with this shit alot of the time , not just the blacks i got expelled from a school because of racism ...thats some shit its not just blacks we all the same in their eyes and that means welook like less

  • Mos Def truly changed my life with this song. I always got picked on by those fucking white boys because I looked different. He taught me that they were just threatened by me, that they were just afraid. He also taught me that we (non-whites) should unite against them...why?...because we all look the same to them. Remember this when you become "friends" with those fucking chickenshits or when you stand up for them.

  • @pinoytuner94 I understand but, your pretty much just doing to them what they've been doing to blacks. It's not right. Try to avoid them stay positive, be optimistic. :)

  • @pinoytuner94 I'm white, and yes, I agree with you, nobody should be picking on somebody for being different in any way.

  • @pinoytuner94 man, don't stoop to the level of ignorant people, you have to rise above that. Hate just begets more hate. Think about how generalizations based on stereotypes have affected you. Do you really want to behave the same way and generalize an entire race as being racist based on the actions of a couple of idiots? This song does that, stereotyping all white people as bigots. I'm not saying that racism doesn't exist or that it's not a problem, but more racism isn't the answer.

  • @pinoytuner94 woooah wtf im white and definatly not racist my gf is from trinidad, and shes hindu. please realize tht most "fucking white boys" arent racist at all

  • @4lifeejuggalo not all of them but some every one thinks different and those who are racist are who this is directed to

  • yo front if you want that shit is sooo fucking true i get that shit everyday!!!!!!!

  • Can anybody guess how many times I've listened to this song without getting tired of it? No one? Me neither. About a thousand maybe? Haha

  • this album is AWESOME.

  • this song is legit as fuck

  • I hate comments that start with "I'm insert color of skin but I" as though that really separates our tastes in music, it's 2011 can't we just be comfortable with ourselves enough to openly enjoy a genre of music? Hip Hop is a feeling and it just grabs you regardless of where you come from or what color you are... no disrespect to anyone. Just thought it needed to be said, Peace

  • reminds me of sucka nigga by tribe

  • I'm green with a pink afro and I love this song!

  • This is Fresh!!!

  • @2000everett4 dont you know his fresh just gets fresher

  • Mos Def is so underrated

  • I'm white and I understand this song. I don't even really listen to a lot of rap, but I like Mos Def. It is obvious that Mos Def is a socially enlightened individual. Although his music might seem shocking to a mainstream audience, attention to the lyrics show that he is a poet.

  • @spookmonster52 I'm just happy whenever I hear anything that isn't auto-tuned.

  • Seems like every white person who likes this song needs to make it known by commenting saying, "I'm white and I like this song". LOL But for real, there's no problem with white people liking the song...I just don't want them singing it in front of me lmao

  • @mohammedator took the words right of my mouth, well said, thank you!

  • @mohammedator :))))))

  • @mohammedator It is time that the world recognize that before Europeans crossed any water, they enslaved their own kind, so all white people do not see eye to eye.

  • what earth wind and fire song is mos singing in the beginning ???

  • @TheSYDTASTiCone Ramsey Lewis - Sun Goddess feat (earth wind and fire)

  • @TheSYDTASTiCone SunGoddess

  • Based on today's sad events in Georgia, it is so relevant to hear these words. Still, I do not think we live in a post-racial society. RIP, Troy Davis.

  • this song is definitely dope!

  • 16 now. xD

  • this was on black on both sides right???

  • @SxeBenji181 yup

  • @webec123 he put the new danger in the description lol i thought i had it wrong on my ipod for a second xD

  • 16 people thing nigga is a racial slur

  • @RaverGuy2009 it still is

  • At this point in the album, if you aren't ready to have common, outside the books knowledge kicked across your skull, just skip to "May-December". For your own safety.

  • President Obama, Rock this shit at the next press conference.....please.

  • @mrmarzan7 fuck obama

  • I guarantee that 3/5 of white people don't understand this song. Kudos to the rest.

  • @VictorRamonethefirst Haha, the old 3/5's law.

  • I am white so I don't get this song.

  • I love how this video gets people from all different backgrounds relating to eachother in the comments. I'm white but I think this song is amazing!

  • @Robby223545 me too im white and i love this song

  • Amazing. Such a clear and powerful message.

  • This song got dented right when Casey Anthony got acquitted. Black or white though, I know how that feels.

  • Im proud to be a black, proud to be a human, but im not proud of the ignorant niggers in our race(: (make sure you know what a nigger is people).

  • i'm not black but i went to a school where it was a majority of black people i was treated like shit and i had to earn respect from the people around me, from fights to social situations, so believe me white people can experience racism

  • @canadianmoosekiller shut the fuck up

  • I'm absolutely white... This song and ATCQ's version are both incredible songs:)

  • @madhav110

6 figures legit means to make a lot of money legally. 100,000 is a six figure number so apparently he's saying he makes AT LEAST 100,000 dollars legally but is still perceived in a negative manner.

  • @madhav110 make six figures as in 300,000 or something but legally

  • Only 80,000 views for the Mighty Mos? WTF

  • Man , this one of the best albuns eva , no doubt about that , but actually when i go back and listen it again , never thought it could really make me so happy

  • I put this on facebook ;)

  • the flo of this song is nice

  • Gil Scott Heron baby...

  • @dutchdude1985 best poet ever

  • really? the new danger? it's black on both sides. i forgive u

  • what an amazing sample. rip

  • RIP Gil Scott Heron.

  • "Showed her my boarding pass, and then she sorted gasped, all embarrassed put an extra lime on my water glass. An hour later here she comes by walkin past, I hate to be a pest but my son would love your autograph!"

One of illest rhymes, can't fuck with this flow still!

  • HOTDAMN! This made my day!

  • @MiketysonEatsKids: I never could understand why or how it is that darker people allow others to make them feel bad about their skin color. I am a light skin person and would kill to have been born with a browner complextion that lasts all year. I just think darker people are better looking then lighter people. I didn't say better but better looking. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. I see some dark ppl hold their heads down and i don't get why....so sad. Be proud of that color.

  • All who listen to this song know real music even if they may have disliked it.

  • they say they want you successful, but then they make it stressful, you start keeping pace, they start changin' up the tempo...

    been there... experienced THAT... :(

  • you see a lot of brothas caked up, yo straight up, IT'S NEW...! YA'LL LIVIN' OFF OF SLAVE TRADER'S PAPER...!

one of the most profound lyrics a rapper ever did speak...

  • he should make a new version of this and speak on Michael Vick vs. Big Ben.

    Nigga nigga!!!!!!

  • i dont relate to this exactly but when im playin ball with any black kids and do somethin flashy they always go damn that was good for a white kid im just like why cant it just be good for a person of any race

  • A fresh whip for my whole family to ride in.

And if I'm still Mr. Nigga, I won't find it surprising.

I Love He Ended It With That.

  • im white and i like more black people than my race...

  • This shit came out when I was 16 I thought it was a tight song back then when I was sleep ha but it hits home at 28 since I've seen some stuff.

  • yo i dig this shit

  • i have all your albums mr nigger ahahahaha

  • To stop racism we need people to stop living. Hate is an instinctive reaction to everything unknown. So we either need to start listening or stop living.

  • Who is the cat with the hundred $ bill? Mr. Nigga, nigga nigga, he got the speakers in the trunk with the bass on crunk

  • not all white people are racists. and not all white people are so ignorant as to think that racism does not exist. but to end racism, we must end race. we must stop seeing each other as white, black, latino, italian, christian, buddhist, muslim, etc and we must start looking at each others as HUMAN BEINGS. each with different skin but the same brain, same heart, same organs, same body structure, same goals in life that include freedom and happiness for he and his loved ones.

  • The best thing you can do is just ignore all of the racists and rise above them all. Yeah, I'm white, but I'm what you would call a "ginger". Instead of getting pissed at people who tell me I "have no soul" or call me firecrotch, I just go out there and show them that I'm superior anyway so they should shut their fucking mouth and get behind me.

  • wrong album in description

  • Im white as they come, but I love this song. Because mr. nigga mentality isnt directed at me doesnt mean I dont experience it. Makes me sick how some people can be towards people who are different than them. Ive had peers tell me that they get nervous around black people. Thats fucked up.

And yeah, I crank the bass.

  • NIGGAS WATCH MY VIDEO PLEAAASSSEEEE /watch?v=i8Jzjug6WRo

  • we need to stop the mr. nigga mentality in other races of people.

  • "America's five centuries deep in cotton money" word.

  • 8 people baked you a cake

  • too bad this kind of rap is a dying breed, best shit evar

  • @TravisWasntAvailable It only dies if we lose faith

  • happy i bought this album cmon man give the guy 10 bucks

  • you dont needa be black to like this. you just need to get the message and appreciate the thought

  • @rsglitcherftw You may not need to be black to like the song, but being black helps you understand this at a painfully personal level. Though like Narcy said, "Iraq is the new Black". Since race isnt real, and color is hereditary in nature only, and this is from an educated Black man, "Black" is synonymous with Oppressed People, and once people stop supporting the Status Quo, we can all be on some All Black Everything. Shout out to everyone who calls me "Brother." And the woman who calls me Love

  • @mkadoza DOPE and BEAUTIFUL bundled in one! Preach that shit!!!

  • "woooooow"

  • @dokisaque34 This song is from Black On Both Sides. Not New Danger.

  • 7 ppl scared to play this song in front of white ppl.

  • @nellzman HAHAH. Real talk.

  • @nellzman I'm white hahahaha still good shit

  • @nellzman lol

  • @nellzman I do it and I live n Ga...I wish a muthafucka would try me on sum KKK shit

  • @nellzman IM WHITE I LOVE IT . you know how much i get harrased my friends alot i feel like this everyday soo i contemplate write and practice what i believe spesificly to me call me vein or watever im sorta not concerned my friend im not .. believe in yourself do what you do

  • also , im sick of playing assumption white could be my fuckin mood thumbs up .. cuz that is where the basis of meaning in conversation we embrace and part take this art of assumption suggestive shit

  • @nellzman I'm white. I love this song. Some black rappers are just racist towards white people, but Mos Def is intelligent about it. He makes a lot of valid points in this song. I think that people of all races should agree with what he's saying.

  • @blablablabla691 yeah but i think you couldn't bring out a song like that in 2011

  • @TrueSoldierJay thats cause it didn't come out in 2011...it came out in 1999. :-P

  • @nellzman shit im white :l Lol but dis my favorite mos def album its so real...

  • @nellzman il bump this dog in front of black ppl and I'm white haha good rap is good rap!

  • I love Abstract in the background on the hook.

  • @nellzman Q-Tip my nig, q-tip! :D

  • my dad refuses to watch the movie The Hitchhiker's Guide the the Galaxy because Mos Def plays a character that he did not imagine being a black man when he read the books.

  • @y0utUBeH8r Well don't tell him about the upcoming movie Thor. He might kill himself.

  • @y0utUBeH8r i saw the film before i read the book and now i cant imagine him as anyone else

  • I keep seeing illuminati on every hip hop video. Can none of ya do the homework? The illuminati were just enlightened thinkers of the 18th and 19th centuries.

  • Black on Both sides muthafucka!! yeah that album kills. after that, most definetly fell off

  • @nemesis700

He didn't fall off in my opinion. Rather than judge his next two albums for what they were, people expected Mos to match BOBS but that was impossible. I absolutely loved The Ecstatic but even it isn't as good as BOBS in my opinion. That's the gift and curse of producing such a good album early in your career. Subsequent works always get compared to it and all short.

  • @Ginga The Illmatic curse...

  • @VINCEJisSONiCtheMC

Stop it. There's no "Illuminati curse". Mos experimented more on his second and third albums and that's partly why there weren't as successful as "Black On Both Sides".

  • @Ginga 1) I said ILLMATIC. Learn how to read. 2). Its a common syndrome that artists who have extrememely masterful first albums suffer from. Its a fact. Experiment or not, there was no way Mos was going to immediatly surpass BOBS

  • @VINCEJisSONiCtheMC

LOL So sorry man. I've seen the Illuminati stuff around on so many hip hop videos, I saw the first three letters and my eyes glazed over. You're very right. BOBS was just too good an effort for Mos to reproduce. He's still my favorite MC though.

  • @Ginga Lol its ok man, i see that illuminati bull all over the place too, so i understand. Yea, mos remains my favorite too.

  • @VINCEJisSONiCtheMC I didn't think "It Was Written" was inferior to Illmatic except that it it was not quite as groundbreaking. It was more polished and commercial, but the quality was still there.

  • SUCKS BALLS!!!!

  • THEY ALL LOVE BLACK COCK

  • even though I am not black, I can still relate to this song. I am indian (dark skin) and even though I am well educated, make 6 figures legit, I still get looked at like a peasant or a "nigga" when i go to the high end stores etc.

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids it's about minorities in general

  • @notmepoopoo

yeah i know.I feel it hard cause i am dark sin and when i walk in with a white woman you should see the looks i get!

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids If only more people of color realized that. Not that a person should feel inferior, but that as people of COLOR we should be banning together instead of making the other feel less than. It really shouldn't be us against whites, but when it comes down to it, the elite are the ones running things creating issues, and they also happen to be white. Idk, it just would be nice if we as human beings could get along and treat each other equally while accepting our different cultures.

  • @hellokittycutie2003 I concur we should get along with each other because we are all essentially the same, the same form, both born and both die. The illusion that you are better based upon the colour of your skin or your material possessions is a poisonous illusion of the human mind.

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids You should probably have a wash.

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids Judging from what you just said, I wouldn't look at you like a peasant, but rather a materialistic snob - you didn't need to mention your "legit" salary in discussing race.

  • Comment removed

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids dont trip off that shit ...its just mind game

the clerk is on commission waiting for checks every other friday to pay bills

like the growing majority in this world and have no stock in the companies.

dont let ANY mothafucka make you think you're any less than what you are.

Once you understand what shit is you learn how to deal with it.

    Mind Games.

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids yeah man basically any1 that's not poor and white get this treatment

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids lol I am pretty sure if your not white you can relate to the song, and saying you get looked at like a peasant or a nigga seems some what like you use it in a bad way. The bottom line I think that africans understand is that white people don't just hate africans they hate colored people. Light or dark skin makes no difference unless your white skin. I think that the africans need to stop fighting like its tribal warfare and the indians need to put there nose down and unite.

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids same here, Im Australian (but a Greek/mogrol mix, no exact origin), and Im making a lot of money. I live in England and people look at me as a "paki" or a "nigger", which is so confusing.

WE are basically in the same boat as mos def, being successful despite what odds people give us off the mark

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids well educated, wealthy Indian who listens to Mos Def?....thats what's up.

  • hahahahahahahahah eeeeeee so ur willing to suck a dick f sum1 else did??? hahahaha eeeeee always knew wer a lover of the cock!

  • i love this song, it one of the best

  • Mr. Nigga... Nigga Nigga

  • what he is sayin is so true!

  • NIGGER FACE

  • 4:20 Why? Why is there an advertisement?

  • Damn I really want to have a conversation with Mos D, badly.

  • @MrDotTv

So do I. There is so much more to the guy than his music.
