I'm a music major and happen to love the original - This piece by Dougan is based on Edward Elgar's "Enigma Variations." The beginning strings is an excerpt from the first movement (of 14) and the piano part is a part Dougan composed himself, loosely basing it on the theme(s) of Enigma Variations. The most popular Enigma Variation is the 9th, "Nimrod" often played at funerals and other somber events. I'd look into "Nimrod" if you want this theme in a slow piano piece.
