God you really are obtuse. You can diagnose a 5 month old baby via YouTube based on a an Internet copy and paste of general symptoms? I will immediately call her neurologist and tell her to change the diagnosis because someone on teh internets said to.
The child may thrash around in bed and does not respond to comforting by the parents. The child's heart rate can escalate during the terror, along with sweating and harsh breathing.
Most episodes last only a few minutes, but they may last up to 3 hours before the child relaxes and returns to normal sleep.
In some cases the night terror could be recalled by the person, depending on age and the nature of the episode.
A typical night terror episode usually occurs in the first hour of sleep. The child sits up in bed and screams, appearing awake but is confused, disoriented, and unresponsive to stimuli. Although the child seems to be awake, the child does not seem to be aware of the parents' presence and usually does not talk.
OMG! People Night Terrors are not a disease. I had night terrors when I was about 3/4 and I would wake up crying and screaming. This child does not have anything near a night terror. If she had a night terror she would be at least crying. I don't even see why you consider her having a night terror in the first place.... Don't know why you classify this video as a Night Terro if Epilepsy is what she has.
Thank you. Emma still has a disturbing sleep pattern at times which I believe is some type of remnant of IS. However, she continues to do well. I hope the same for your son Shellnblake.
my son dominick had night terrors and still sleep walks i hope hers dont get as bad as his did. he also had the infantile spams they are all somehow linked. dom also had seizures until about a year ago but he is doing good now. wish you the best .
night terrors and sleep walking?!!!!!!! that is a really bad combination. watch that kid at all times! he could be walkin around then start freaking out and bust his head open or worse hurt or kill someone.
Thank god her night terrors aren't as serious as some. Mine were like that, except my eyes were wide open and sometimes i would wake up in the middle of it and try to calm down, but calming down is probably the hardest thing I've ever done. It was like having tourretts or something because I could controll it. It's caused by sleep deprevation, i think. Cause when i was little i would stay @ disneyland till closing time, and it would happen the following night.I wish the best of luck to Emma!
Thank you for the comment. Emma's night terrors have subsided alone with her underlying disease, infantile spasms..a devastating childhood epilepsy. She is an incredible little person and we hope the best for the future.
I had both as an child, had severe night terrors that would paralyze me completely even after I had woken. And Epilepsy from the ages of 2 to 6 which were caused by my growth. I'm fine now though and hope the best for your Emma.
Maybe is was sleep paralysis?
