  • 0:55 Nakamura: (snorting) are you kidding? LOL

  • he didnt say chek-mate!!!!... thats the whole point of playin!, u have to make everyone around u jealous that u won! like in BINGO!, thats so annoying except when ur the one to shout it!.. xD

  • Akobian lost on time

  • im sorry what the fuck just happened ?

  • @TheBrodieBoy66 No Shit!

  • fake!

  • Go naka!

  • what a fucking prick at 0:57

  • Favorite part of the video at 1:42 where Hikaru (spite of all the craziness) has the presence of mind as he is moving his king to f3 to slow down for a millisecond to keep Akobian from tracking him, and Var flags on the very next move!

C for champion, h. holy, e. evil, double s. savage and sexy..

  • da fook?

  • You kidding!

  • At :31 Akobian punches the clock with hand other than he moved the pawn, dirty pool.

  • this is chess? flying pieces 2 nabs xD

  • One day that clock will hit him back...

  • @Cyclone238 original

  • de vrais abrutis

  • why did they grab queens?

  • @czurmuhl Akobian (white) was preparing to promote his pawn to a queen, and by a natural reaction, grabbed his queen in preparation. Nakamura (black) apparently thought the idea of Akobian promoting was ridiculous and returned the action.

  • @NightHawk8785 thought it was ridiculous. It was ridiculous. With a King, Knight and Rook on the pawn, it wasn't going anywhere. Just disrespectful

  • @czurmuhl white player thought he was going to promote, nakamura (black) knew that was not going to happen, and he took it as an insult. So he grabbed his own to return the the bad manner.

  • naka rulez

  • 1:40 the man in the next board was looking them like "wtf are they doing?"

  • lol at 1:23 it looks like he tried to castch him off guard or something

  • this was funny

  • YOU ARE NOT PREPARED - Naka

  • Why he says "are you kidding me" ? I don't play chess, so i don't understand!

  • @lucassm2 akobian took his queen over closer to himself so he would be able to place it on the board faster when his pawn gets to the far side of the board, to try and save time basically, nakamura said are you kidding because realistically he was never going to let him queen the pawn, he would have stopped it before it got there

  • 0:55 and that is why I love this video

  • i paused the video and they were still going at it o_O

  • ha ha ha! Naka is a real fighter! nice video!

  • 0:20 Hikaru is pissed

  • I love the idea of speeding up the video at 1:25, are u fucking kidding, brilliant!

  • why are they playing with a club set?

  • Akobian reached for his new queen like he was gonna go up on Naka. Naka said "Not in my house bitch."

  • "pff are you kidding me"

    (You don't intimidate me bitch)

  • i would be freaked out the move so damn fast o.o

  • If you don't know much about Akobian, he's got a massive ego problem -- he pays a hypnotist to hypnotize him and tell him he's the greatest player ever, so Naka's words are very suited as a taunt.

  • hypnotic ! like some pressed fast forward on a video !

  • who won?

  • Naka will beat garry kasparov!

  • WHO IS THE WINNER?!?!? I MISS THAT PART WTF

  • ''are you kidding?'' what a jerk

  • nakumura got pretty cocky

  • lol, the white guy in the back was looking like, '' Uhmm, i dont think im ready for that level yet..''

  • WTF

  • WAVY NAKA!

  • lol i know nakamura he a cocky sob but i would be to if i was him

  • nice fast game rook ending

  • Comment removed

  • wait, who won??

  • @jaelimoron Nakamura won on time.

  • @jaelimoron naka won

  • I find it hard to fap to this

  • Not too surprisingly, there was no handshake at the end of the game.

  • Nakamura is my favorite player, but he shouldn't talk to an opponent in a blitz game.

  • if i was the other guy i would simply cheat, he wouldn't notice.

  • what the fuck stumbleupon

  • after 4 years this is still one of my favorite youtube videos

  • How lives change.. I remember playing against Nakamura when we were younger in C.I.S and N.S.C.F i quit at 1900..he kept playing and now hes top 6 in the world...crazy..I hope he gets to #1..I didnt have a good support system..parents didnt really like the time i spent on chess..doesnt seem like naka has changed lol..when he was younger he use to disrespect people on the board, tossing pieces etc ..he got punched in the world open for that too...hes competitive though..chess needs him!

  • @Thenextworldc Wow, that's unfortunate for you. I also didn't know he got punched at the world open. I'm a big fan of Nakamura, but I still have to admit it's funny.

  • @moviecritic6 Yes that was the last tournament I played. I believe it was about 5 years ago I was a freshman in college and I played the under 2000, he got punched by someone from Philadelphia. Yea now that Im older it bothers me because I think I could of been super strong I was 1800 at 16 with no coaching..Parents didnt like it. Not saying id be at these guys level but at least a master by now. Im going to make a push for it though..im only 25 now so I got time..Fabiano Caruana use to play too

  • @Thenextworldc Yeah, you should definitely get back into tournaments.

  • 1:26 the black guy looks over and is trying to follow

  • @seppa15 Is that supposed to be a racial comment? the other guy looked too..what you dont know is how pairings work..GMS play along side GMS, chances are Naka and Akobian are super GMS so they are always near the top of the pairings (closer to board 1) so if those guys are sitting right next to Naka AND Akobian then chances are they are super strong as well..I cant make out who he is but I guarantee hes over 2400 USCF

  • @Thenextworldc was not racial. it was just funny

  • Ego and insults aside, it is against the rules to talk to your opponent during a game , be it a long game, rapid-play mode, or blitz. The only exception is "I offer a draw" which can be repeated a maximum of 3 times, and of course "i resign" Apart from that, no other comment should be made. Had the official in charge had seen and heard nakamura's unsporting comment he may well of stopped the clock and warned him of his behaviour, and later a formal sanction could have been imposed on him.

  • @janweltevreden It's also against the rules to capture a piece with 2 hands

  • why the fuck should nakamura show humility, he is much, much stronger than akobian

  • at 0:31 Akobian does something illegal, you are suppose to press the clock, capture, and move your pieces with the same hand, and yet he used both of them

  • love how angry nakamura was and then he was like "okay now i like this position" you are the best, or should i say the beast, in blitz

  • Holy shit... that's some intense board movement. I'm guessing they go at it so quickly to confuse the other player ontop of managing time?

  • "are you kidding?". Nice one you fake half jap, you're doing something as arbitrarily meaningful as shooting a ball through a hoop or hitting a ball with a stick or any other activity where nothing is accomplished except the result of a stupid fucking game. You're such a bad ass. Show some humility you fucking idiot.

  • @sikcaesar

"are you kidding?". Coming from the faggot with billiard videos up the ass all over his channel. Go fuck yourself Gaesar

  • *akobian grabs rook* Nakamura proceeds to anally rape akobian

  • Chess madness period

  • hahahahha i love naka such a beast are you kidding me?? lmfao

  • lol, look at the guys behind them! must be a different championship

  • Actually hchoudh, Nakamura clobbered Carlsen at the World Blitz Championship, 3-1. And he demolished the mighty Aronian in Chess 960, 3.5-0.5. He drew against Anand in 2010, and defeated Kramnik (with Black). He also came ahead of Anand at Wijk aan Zee 2011, taking sole first place.

  • @SaintDufus You made that up about clobbering Carlsen at blitz championship. In the blitz championship players always play 2 games against each other. It would be hard to get a 3-1 score after only 2 games played. Also, I noticed you don't actually mention that Nakamura, self appointed by himself and his fans as the best blitz player in the world finished a very mediocre middle of the pack in the blitz championship. Guess it's much easier to beat the amateurs on ICC than play the pros.

  • @hchoudh1 I didn't "make it up," but I did get the event wrong: it was the BNbank blitz tournament in Oslo, not the World Blitz Championship (he didn't get invited to the WBC). Nakamura won all 12 of his games and then beat the reigning World Blitz Champion (Carlsen) 3-1.

I've seen him defeat elite players on ICC, not just "amateurs". The man is a blitz legend, definitely one of the best blitz players in the world.

  • @SaintDufus Yes, he was invited to the World Blitz Chess Championship.

  • @moviecritic6 Not in 2009 he wasn't, which is the year I'm talking about.

  • @SaintDufus Ah, okay.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey at 30 he moves a piece with his right hand and stops the clock with his left.

    That's not allowed is it?

  • @AlltimeTrance taking a piece with both hands is allowed.

  • the black guy in the backround sucks!!!

  • Nakamura looks like a bit of an arrogant jerk to me.

  • why don't the organisers use some nice wood boards, the plastic stuff can't cope with the speed of Hikaru!!! The plastic pieces would have shot off the board and ended up in Murabs eye! (thats the guy next to Akopian)

  • i never say lol, but LOL!!!! one of the reasons why nakamura's my favourite. badass indeed!

  • blitz?

  • Can we get these guys some better chess pieces? Maybe some that are bottom weighted properly....

If anyone deserves and needs it, these guys do.

  • lol "are you kidding?"

    its too funny

  • Nak is king

  • Hey, Akobian is really awesome...I think this was a very emotional game for Akobian. Don't get me wrong...I like Nakamura better! :D

  • get a lifee....wth...

  • i wouldve kicked nakas ass xD :p

  • Naka needs an attitude adjustment (not many people strong enough at chess to provide it though)

  • LOL the black and white guy was like What is going on over there...

  • Holy crap. That was fast.

  • wow take it easy theres plenty of time

  • Nakamura breaks to many rules of chess. I hate his falling pieces over the board...

  • This is a blitz-classic!!

  • WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

  • any1 know his ICC handle?

  • @warLock21X Smallville. its like playing the final boss on the hardest video game on the planet

  • ...wtf they are just throwing the pieces around for the last 30 seconds lol

  • @pinkbirdsfly NO WAY! Nakamura tactically owned him in the end. Every single move in the end was quickly calculated....cause it was such an easy technique for Nakamura. White had nothing in the end.

  • who won?

  • @kasper9016 hikaru

  • haha yeah good kidding

  • at 1:09.. isnt nakamuras king in check? lmfao

  • @TheStebbinz there's a pawn on d6

  • @dezayu123 oh sorry my bad

  • @TheStebbinz If Naka's king is....thats Akobians fault for missing the win.

  • wooow!!!!

  • wow what a serious game! very tense

  • Cn anyone explayn me the scene where the one grab Queen and the "are you kidding"?

  • @georg3000 The player on the left (Akobian) is getting ready to queen. Nakamura has seen one move further and knows Akobian will not need that queen after all, if he does, Nakamura can get a queen also.

  • @QuakePhil

Wrong. Nakamura said are you kidding means, there's no way you're going to be using that. So he got his queen, meaning I'm the one who will queen.

  • @revsc1274 What did I say?

  • It would help if Nakamura played by the rules. He is supposed to leave his pieces properly set up before pressing his clock. If he tried that with me, and I knew the game were videotaped, I'd stop the clocks and call for the TD to penalize him. 1:24

  • @DavidForthoffer The board looks really flimsy. Its in the spirit of speed chess to keep the game going, so hassling around with the td would just aggravate both players

  • @QuakePhil: The board looks very flat, and is obviously not the reason pieces were getting knocked over. Although it is the spirit of coffee house speed chess to keep the game going, it is also the spirit of tournament chess to play by the rules. If I were playing Nakamura and he knocked his pieces over and replaced them on my time, I would call the TD and HOPE Nakamura got aggravated. OTOH, I'm a lot weaker now than when I regularly beat DeFirmian, Christiansen, Brandwein, and Kaplan.

  • @DavidForthoffer Something tells me you could be 2800 and you would still get steamrolled by naka. Hint hint. Nudge nudge.

  • @DavidForthoffer Oh you liar, you never were at a point where you were beating DeFirimian, Christiansen, Brandwein, OR Kaplan. I love how people on the internet love to make exaggerated claims about their chess abilities, IQ, etc. Stop it already

  • @angela1894: In that era, my slow chess rating was about 2250 and my quick chess rating (15-minutes for each player) was 2270. Why do you think it so impossible that my 5-minute rating was in the 2300 range? It should be EXPECTED that I would regularly beat 2450 rated people --- and Steve Brandwein was not THAT strong.

  • Damn, if Nakamura said "are you kidding?" to me I would melt....

  • Lol they played at ludicrous speed near the end there.

  • umm frustration gyus in the game causes naka to say that but in real life he is a real good guy anyway he won

  • looks like superman chess in the end

  • Without a doubt, the best chess video ever. Akobian grabbed his queen because if he thought he was going to be promoting his pawn and he didn't want to waste time reaching across the board to get it. Nakamura said something to the effect of "are you kidding?" and then grabbed his own queen, essentially ratcheting up the intensity of the game ten-fold. Nakamura ended up winning on time.

Competitive, intense, ill-will expressed in another players face... works for me. Chess needs more of this.

  • @TheMrLandon However, it's ironic when he promoted he didn't replace it with the queen.

  • @chessdrummer not much point, it was going to be taken on the next move.

  • @lewiszim Then why grab the queen from the other side of the board? That what's Nakamura's "you kidding" comment was about. There is no need to do that.

  • @chessdrummer no, I mean once he promoted it he didn't replace it because by that point the rook was clearly going to just swipe it up. When he grabbed the queen it wasn't clear yet.

  • @lewiszim True, but in that position, any promotion would result in immediate capture. There was nothing else in the position. Besides, he didn't need to grab that queen and put it all the way on this side of the board. It was already much closer to the queening square where it was. Made no sense.

  • @chessdrummer Maybe, I can't see the exact position that well due to the quality and angle.

  • @TheMrLandon I love the confidence of Nak, in my opinion Akobian was trying to intimidate him and Nak simply let him know it wasnt going to happen today. awesome

  • who won?

  • Naka says" kidding?"...LOL.

  • K im confused, why was he upset when Akobian stole his queen, im a novice at this

  • @jangotrooper bad etiquette when its clear akobian isnt anywhere near queening.

  • lol, comn comn

  • Is that a Chronos clock?

  • Huh, y'kidding? LOL

  • for a second it looked like they were just moving pieces to move pieces.

  • at 0:10 Nakamura is touching his bishop ...he should have take it ...right? piece touche? then he look at Akobian to see if he 's got to take his bishop...hehe

  • @drowsy267

Some french rule pronounced "Sha doob", it's simply adjusting pieces.. :P

  • @Thymonico i know... "J'adoube" exactly....but he didn't say it

  • @drowsy267 this is blitz so its clock move so it doesnt matter if u touch the piece

  • This is uh.. fast forwarded, right?

  • @xfamenx Are you joking?, if not, the answer is no, it is not fast forwarded.

  • LOLLL that was sooo cheap of akobian

  • The best chess video ever.

  • they should make all the boards have a piece of metal underneatth the grid and all thepieces have magnetic bases......

  • The clock makes a soundwhwn the time was overstepped, which is stricly forbidden.

The game shouldbe repeated with a regular clock.

  • =<O

  • random movements does not chess make

  • @ 1:14 the nearby table..those two players watching naka's game while having their own game..lol

  • 'are you kidding' ;D what a badass

  • @tetrisubermaster Not such a badass when he has to play the likes of Anand,Carlsen, and Aronian is he though?

  • @hchoudh1 He beat Anand for 1st place in the Tata Steel chess tournament

  • Chess with attitude...I like that. Perfect for a gatorade ad.

  • okay lol no one else besides me thinks thats crazy fast?

  • are you kidding?

  • Nakamura won the game anyway coz he had 2 passed pawns

  • I love at :57 Nakamura laughing and asking :"are you kidding?" and grabs a queen too.

  • who flagged?

  • @234critic akobian ran out of time which is why nakamura pointed to the clock.

  • @234critic Akobian the guy on the left.

  • I love the way Naka says "Are you kidding?!" after Akobian ,rather optimistically, took a queen. Its like hes saying; "Dont you know you are playing the best blitz player in the world?"

  • that would be carlsen boss

  • I know Magnus won the blitz championship, but if u knew Naka u d know that he thinks hes the best (blitz) player in the world so im correct and u r wrong to 'correct' me.

  • Admittedly I don't know Mr. Nakamura, but why didn't he win the world championship, allowing a 19 year old to snatch it?

I'm a relatively weak player, so I wouldn't dream of flaming these GM's, but you have yet to convince me, based on the given evidence, that Nakamura is better than Carlsen.

Oh, and saying "...so im correct and u r wrong..." isn't going to settle it this time. Please prove me wrong logically, because if I'd like to get my facts straight.

  • You dont understand! I never said I think Naka is the best (blitz) player in the world, I think Carlsen is too....Im just saying that Im sure Naka tinks that he is! Read my initial statement more carefully and u ll know what i mean.
