  • What a still tremendous joy to hear how every instrument fits into the other ,and

overall make that giant puzzle. I always loved Genesis from when I was 14 at school till the 52 of today. Guess it's too late to try and sell me better music !

  • Love! Pete and Phil and Anthony, holy trinity...

  • che dire.... mitici .nessuno come loro ...

  • Toda una joyita de los años dorados del progre.

  • Oh Yeah!! These cats could Jamm!!..Tannxx!! Cheers!!

  • wowowowowowoweeee!!! Hard to believe how GOOD they WERE... I only wish had known about them before 1976.

  • Brilliant - from 8.24 Gabriel is just pure genius

  • It's hard to hear in this video, but in the heaviest, fastest parts, Phil Collins is playing a double bass drum pattern with a single foot and single bass pedal!! Just amazing... what a drummer he was...

  • Hard to hear?? Dude this is the most crisp live version of the Musical Box iv ever heard. The recording is remastered and flawless LOL get some Q-tips:D

  • @brunthroath6912 Bruno I was referring strictly to the bass drum, I do agree with you that the audio is overall very good indeed. I'll try boosting the low freq.

  • @Duendito

No doubt, Phil Collins was/is a very good drummer.

But in this song Peter Gabriel played the bassdrum in front of him, too (e. g. at 5:40).

  • @Duendito Back then he was a drummer first and foremost.

  • "the only place it's available is on Six Hours Live 1972-1980 - double live DVD"

    Not true...

Six Hours Live is nothing but a scam because all it is, is a bunch of STOLEN bootleg videos from a genesis bootleg DVD making team called "GMDVD" or "Genesis Museum DVD"

You can find most GMDVDs at the genesis bootleg torrent site FOR FREE. just search "genesis movement torrent" and you'll find it. completely free and completely LEGAL.

  • I like to transcribe this song

  • I thought I only liked Genesis after Peter Gabriel left, but this is freaking awesome!!! I'll have to re-listen to everything now.

  • Start w/ Selling England By The Pound. Then, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. You'll flip, man!

are you kidddddding? start at the beginning. From Genesis to Revelation is an understated masterpiece. Trespass starts to show where they were headed and has some great songs. Nursery Cryme develops their later sound with the addition of Phil Collins and expanded use of mellotron. I especially like "Seven Stones" although the end of "Musical Box" is hard to beat. Foxtrot may be their best album with no weaknesses anywhere. Selling England is great no doubt but it doesn't start there! XOX

  • I am aware of all that, kind sir. But, no matter. It isn't about my knowledge of this great orchestra. I was merely responding to snaildragon, who feels Genesis were only great after Peter left. I was referring him to a dynamic album from them to start w/ and then go in any direction he preferred. It's not all that serious.

RightO, I get so excited when anyone either knows or wants to know about early Genesis. Sorry if I sounded like a music critic! I meant well and know you did too.

  • @mauricemorning I think they really hit their stride with Nursery Cryme, though I like Trespass too. And of course, SEBTP and TLLDOB are genius.

  • @Duendito

Yes, there are some great songs on Nursery Cryme (the first one I heard) and Trespass but also some things I don't like. I think Foxtrot is perfect from start to finish and especially like Can-Utility because of the drumming. SEBP is nearly perfect but you have to put up with More Fool Me and After The Ordeal. I listen to Battle of Epping Forest more than any other Genesis song these days. TLLDOB is truly awesome but there are parts I don't care for. Wanna compare top 10's in a PM?

  • @mauricemorning I haven't listened to Foxtrot in ages. I agree with your choices of favorites and "what to avoids" LOL

  • yay. I love old Genesis! i mean, i used to be totally obsessed

  • i never stopped

  • i recognize the hammond organ the mellotron and the other keyboard who have tony banks in the video what model is??

  • Altogether, the keyboards that Tony Banks is playing are Hammond Organ, Mellotron and a Hohner Pianette (basically an electric piano).

  • Yep, a Hammond L-122, a MKII Mellotron and a Hohner Pianet (with fuzz box at times)

  • loooooove this

  • Wait - Tony Banks on the GUITAR??? (0:36) I never, ever knew that he EVER played guitar with the band on anything... didn't know he knew how the play the guitar. Learn something new every day, and I've been a fan of this band since the 70's! Thanks for the amazing video!

  • no prob>. i ripped it off someone else but still its a perfect quality vid of an old genesis tv performance.. and yes tony banks is playing the guitar. Such great musicians like that you dont find nowadays..

  • Banks fanned 12-string guitar sound and took it into prog scene.

  • he too plays guitar on the intro of suppers ready

  • Banks not only played 12 string on earlier albums but also wrote guitar pieces for the three man line up. A lot of earlier Hackett/Banks duo's plays out his understanding of guitar. He commented that while he can do a lot with keyboards, he is always amazed at the sounds he can make with the guitar.

  • brilliant musician is what he his..

  • Have you seen the Deep Purple"Heavy Metal Pioneers"? Pretty tight. Genesis had a great documentary. First hour is cool, last hour...wellllllll

  • no ill check it out thanks dude...

  • Why in the world did they stop this creative, intelligent, amazing music...?

  • LOL?? yeah i wich we were in the 70's cause the millenium sucks as far as music goes!!

  • I just got Trespass. Cool as well. Dig on Deep Purple, too?

  • nice the knife is a great track and i love deep purple fuckn RULES!!
