@altops No such thing as "future proof" computer these days. If you get the best there is today, expect it to be lagging behind within 72 months.

@peeweesweden Well future proof means that a systems stays relevant for about 5 years and with gaming in mind will play games 5 years from now on the same settings as when your rig was first built. My rig runs with 2 thirds processing headroom. Thats future proof as much as future proof can possibly mean with regard to computers. And BF2 required card is a 260 GTX, i got a 6970ATI , I think this will run new games in to the future about 3 -4 years without a grossly needed upgrade.

@capman911 i would get an AMD Radeon HD 6870 in that case; good performance for that price range, and it usually has an external exhaust type cooler so it won't overheat your case, they are about $230 at newegg. If you don't think that's right for you, a good card from nVidia would be an EVGA GTX 460 1gb superclocked edition. You can also get those at newegg for around $200 and they come with external exhaust coolers as well

The only thing AMD offers are affordable hexacores, however, if you're looking for quality, Intel is the man. With the Sandy Bridge, Intel managed to offer the best bang for a buck, even outshining a few of their more expensive 1366 sockets when it comes down on quality.

Bang for buck goes in AMDs favour. AM3 motherboards are much cheaper than 1155, and 1090T is only £150~. 2500K is £190 for lower overall throughput and higher platform cost.

Intel is no higher quality than AMD, just look at the Cougar Point chipset bug. They all make mistakes!

More cores doesn't mean it is better.

In tasks that will effectively use all the processors resources the X6 is faster. Gaming is one of Sandy's strengths definitely, though at high resolutions it only has a small lead.
