@VeilStar666 since no one answered, I'll answer for you
1) no, the z-5500 hits quite a bit deeper, and it's louder too. It's not too much louder than the z-2300 though.
2) z-2300 because it's not worth paying half a grand for the z-5500.
3) if you have a z-5500, you can still buy a z-2300. It's your own opinion really, if you want it louder, I'd buy a z-2300 to boost up some bass. You might wanna becareful though, the amps are not the same and can cause cancellation in certain frequencies.
@judeh101 Who the hell would pay retail price for the Z-5500? LOL. I paid $200 for my second set on boxing day and to some people that price is still a rip-off.
@judeh101 I never said you did but you stated "2) z-2300 because it's not worth paying half a grand for the z-5500." Who would pay half a grand for it is what I'm asking. lol
@sirmasterpimp Hey is there a way to re-tune your z-2300 box without rebuilding it? Mine can play 30hz but its not audible like on other subwoofers. Please help the subwoofer is gettng excursion but not playing it loud.
@sp3ar2envi This is what I did, I got a Powerbass ASA 400.4x amp (it has no subsonic filter so it can hit the lows a bit better, and it sounds a heck ton better than the z-2300 amp too!)
Then stuff the enclosure with polyfil (just enough to feel the springness of the polyfil) which brings the tuning frequency a bit lower, then enjoy Young Jeezy's Put On. Now you can sort of hear the low note.
When ever I turn my Z-2300 up full bass and 75% volume, the sub starts to distort and crackle a bit, it has been doing that ever since I got it? Is it just mine or does it happen to urs
@RustyNailMediaInc Mine has never crackled (not a good sign....could be your voice coil), but with certain genres like rock and rap it will distort with those settings. Try manually pressing the center of your sub's dust cap in, to see if you fell anything rubbing or scratching. If you do, your voice coil is probably on its way out.
and people wonder why their systems just "die" some people who buy the logitech g51 system complain of the sub and amp dieing. It's because they push them. Don't puch it to hard, or for to long if you must. I've seen someone blow their 12 inch Axiom sub. Those are hard to blow, these are only cheap computer subs
You sure seem to. full165 is absolutely right, these are cheap PC speakers. Most PC speakers are cheap, which is why the have cheap pricetags. I own the Logitech Z2200 system and although it sounds pretty good, it sounds awful in comparison to my home theatre setup.
no shit, home theater is made to be more powerful. i have a ht setup. i just got the ligitechs to replace my pos altec lansings i bought a year ago. pc audio is different than home theater. home theater is a whole different category than pc audio. ok?
Power handling and sound quality have no direct correlation whatsoever. The only thing different about PC audio is the fact that it comes bundled in a neat small package with connectivity options like 3.5mm stereo jacks for your sound card. Audio is audio. You get what you pay for with audio.
Logitech doesn't want the sub to be used at that frequency (because it damages it over time) due to the size of the magnet and suspension material. I started to smell burnt rubber when I first did this, but after I broke the sub in, it didn't smell as much.
The other reason is because they tuned the box and port to 35Hz. They could've tuned the port even lower, but this subwoofer is really meant for "In between SPL and the Quality" of sound. They could've tuned it down to 20 hz if they wanted to
yep, it uses a band pass enclosure which is better at going down to lower frequencies than the long throw design of the z2300, but yes the z2300 is louder. I actually like the z5400's sub (same used in the z5300e and z5450) logitech just needed to give it an 8"-10" sub and the z5500's amp and it would have been their best high end speaker.
nice breaking them in.. i just got these speakers today and wondering how to go about breaking them in?? pls go to my page n leave me a comment on what u did to get that type of excursion!!!
I have a Z-2300 set and it's awesome, it defintaly shakes stuff easily, my doorhandle, my paintings on the wall you all hear them shaking, when running basstests preferably at 40hz it is really clean sounding and loud.
Indeed, the z2300's sub is very good, its more punchy than the lager z5500's sub (although not as powerful). The stock satellites are another story, they lack clean highs and mid tone definition(muffled overall sound). I have since replaced them with creative satellites, which can be found in my other videos.
when I turn 100% bass and 70-80% volume and played music in 5min smells a little burnt subwoofer is this normal?
Krissja564 7 months ago
@Krissja564 Yes when the sub is not broken in yet. If it is broken in, then your burning out the voice coil.

hey man, i got a logitech z-5500 right here and im very happy with it but i got a few questions:
1. is it true that the z-5500 has louder bass but the z2300 has deeper bass?
2. which speaker set do you like the most and why?
3. so is it worth to buy a z-2300 when i already got a z-5500?

dude stfu, you dont know what you are talking about. axiom is home theater. logitech is pc speaker. there is a difference between the two
tharrington11 2 years ago
you stfu, I do know what I'm talking about. I'm saying that PC subs aren't meant to be pushed as much as home theatre.
full165 2 years ago
ok well this is pc audio, not home theater. so quit talking about home theater on a pc subwoofer video. cunt

Dam my z5400's with their internal dual chamber sub!
(for those that dont know that means, that means the driver is inside the box so you can see it, gives better sound but slightly less bass).
skylinerspeeder 3 years ago
yep, it uses a band pass enclosure which is better at going down to lower frequencies than the long throw design of the z2300, but yes the z2300 is louder. Ye, I could have got the Z5500's but i needed the dual optical inputs on the Z5400 touch centre thingy (aka, glorified volume switch).
Im building a new PC at christmas but keeping my current z5400's. I actually have 2 sets of them.
