Where did Mccain say 5 million is middle class? I really want to read that quote. If it was spoken I want to hear it. Because that is something to run.
Obama and Biden are going to run as the working class candidates and McCain will be the elitist this time around. Obama spent a lot of his adult life working jobs that payed less than $20,000. I remember him telling a story about how he would come home from working in poor communities and see a Harvard Law Degree hanging on his wall. Biden is the same way. The guy is still in debt. Thats kind of sad for a 65 year old, but its good to have candidates who have actually lived real lives.
I wish I had 7 homes and a conscience so weak I would leave my wife after a car accident for a younger woman. Well at least I'm rich because I make less than $5 million a year!
The wealthy make the rules we all must follow. Those rules only benefit the rich! McCain is no different. He's not for America, he's for those who fund his campaign, the wealthy.
Think hard about your Vote America, are you rich enough to enjoy the benefits of the McCain tax Cuts, or are you poor enough to be burdened with his middle class tax hike?
I'm not a fan of attack ads from an idealistic perspective, but I think this is a smart move politically. Yeah, rich people can make sensible economic decisions, and Obama ain't exactly poor himself, but if we're going to insist that Obama only run ads that make rigorous sense, we're going to watch him lose. His plan IS better for the middle class. Perhaps this ad will raise questions in people's minds and motivate them to actually listen to Obama on the issues.
McCain's confusion about the number of homes he owns was worthy of a brief mention or two. Being well-off or even rich is hardly a crime in America--and certainly nothing on which to build a campaign.
We are much more interested in what Mr Obama proposes to do about medical care, a safe and wholesome supply, energy resources, education, and care for the elderly, than how many homes the McCains may or may not own!!
I still don't like the negative ad, I think it's not a good example for our young people to look up to. I wish Obama would keep it clean. There's no reason to sink down to the Republicans level. Obama is a great candidate that does not to air negative ads. Please STOP!
it's a political tradition. mud-slinging is like breathing air to politicians. that...and accepting bribes. it's their version of a "fisticuffs" without drawing real blood. sigh.
I regret to inform you that this is the only way he's going to hit back at McCain's attacks. It's not pretty but you need to realize that McCain's deceptions actually helped him and for Obama what this means is he must get meaner or he will fall the same way Gore and Kerry did. Politics is a game period, trying to run a positive campaign while taking lashes from the other guy makes you look weak, and that's something that we have to accept.
Fighting foreclosure right now. Me & my family of 5 are going to be homeless..Thanks Mcain for telling me that i'm in a strong economy where there was over 530,000 foreclosures in my sate (Nj) LAST YEAR!
haha, all of sudden the right is whining that Obama is going negative after all the slime they of slung. Squeal piggy squeal!!
Go ahead bring up Rezko, Wright, and everything else we heard during the primaries. Lets hear about McCains first wife, Keating, and the net worth of the McCain/Romney ticket.
Though I'll be voting for Barrack in the election, I don't really like this ad. If McCain has 7 houses who cares? Why is wealth bad? I don't care how much either makes, I care what they are going to do to help others make ends meet. I would write Ron Paul in, but it would be a waste of my vote I suppose. It's clear that the lesser of the two evils is Barrack so I say Barrack '08.
i don't think they're saying wealth is bad. i think they're saying that he is unable to relate to the "common" people who can barely own 1 hour. it's kinda a cheap shot, considering the housing market and the sentiment of the american public, but it's true too. his economic plan is horrendous and completely out of touch with the reality most of us are currently living.
You people should be ashamed. McCain's a former POW for crying out loud! He is tormented to this day from his horrible experiences as a POW; he even suffers from PTCRHMHIOD, or Post Traumatic Can't Remember How Many Houses I Own Disorder.
This horrible condition has plagued many former POWs, and has ruined the marriages of countless vets with their multi-millionaire wives who own 10+ mansions and a corporate jet.
Thank you for allowing text comments! I make less than $30,000 a year, and I'm stuggling. I'm barely able to afford to have my basic needs met, and I can't imagine anyone making less than me. Bush has done what he planned to do, which is shrink the middle class and bankrupt our government. Help! It is clear that McCain doesn't have a plan for people like me. Please tell the world your plan to turn things around.
One, owning several houses doesn't make you automatically out of touch with Americans. He needs more proof. John McCain does countless town hall meetings, while Obama refused to.
Two, the $5 million middle class quote was taken completely out of context. It was a joke, Obama knows that, he lied in this ad.
Didn't Obama say he wasn't going to run negative ads?
He can't be expected to keep track of his huge fleet of domestic help, but we do know from his tax records that he spent $273,000 on servants last year. In other words, the median US household income is about 1/6th what he spends each year to keep his $500 loafers shined.
Finally! One Rove tactic seems to be to take your weakness and project it onto your opponent. About time they start pointing out who of the "Country Club elitist" of the two candidates.
Here is a great quote from LA Times today in the backlash of the number of homes question: "A nine-car motorcade took [McCain] to a nearby Starbucks early in the morning, where he ordered a large cappuccino. McCain otherwise avoided reporters."
It's one thing for mccain not to even know how many houses he owns, but worse is how his campaign came right out and made up a number, 4, that was yet another lie. if he is willing to lie about the number of houses he has, what wont he lie about?

Yep, keep hitting with this. Just don't mention Tony Rezko, or the seven million dollars Obama made in a single year.
Oh, and speaking of housing, and families, for sure don't mention brother George, living on one dollar a month in a shack.
Hope, hope, hope... change, change, change.
