Acts 17: 24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else..These jibberish words are done in front of religious gatherings.Try doing this in a courtroom setting or during a mental health evaluation.
This is awesome =) God is so good and speaking tongues means you are speaking directly to God and only you and him are having a conversation. This is intimate
Praying in tongues is a great. I don't feel anything and it's praying thigs out in the sprit realm and knows whats going on in the spritual realm. The heanly language is great.
This is blasphemous. Claiming that one is speaking with God in his language, that one can understand God, that God is speaking through them, that one is essentially a prophet is blasphemy.
@paduajoseph Nope. I'm pointing out that evangelical christians are often blasphemous.
And how does my religion, or lack thereof, have any bearing on my statement? It is an ad hominem to distract from the serious issue of hypocrisy and blasphemy in these faiths.
Speaking in tongues is not GIBBERISH OR UNSOUND MUMBLE when people speak in DIFFERENT TONGUES UNDER INFLUANCE OF HOLY SPIRIT LISTENER HEAR EVRY SINGLE WORD IN THEY OWN LANGUAGE this babble i dont know what it is but is not SPEAKING IN TONGUE ignorance people should look ACTS where Brothers Christian was speak in tongues and all people was listen SOUND WORDS in they own language SPEAKING IN TONGUE IS SIGN TO UNBELIVERS not belivers
@mRwhite298 The miracle or sign was in the speaking NOT in the hearing. Can you scripturally demonstrate that the miracle was in the hearing? The fact that people understood what was being said simply confirms that what was being spoken was nothing short of real human languages. The equation of tongue and dialektos in Acts 2 v 8 shows that speech in different languages is meant. Modern day tongue speaking is a cheap imitation of a wonderful miracle - voodoo practitioners speak it
@etherform66 Acts 2,3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
@etherform66 Acts 2,8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?9 Parthians,Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene;visitors from Rome11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” SPEAKING IS TONGUE IS NOT UNSOUND BABLLE
@mRwhite298 you have proven nothing..the disciples spoke in foreign languages that were hitherto unknown to them, in the very languages of the natives of the foregn lands who were presently assembled before them. When Paul discusses the need for tongues to be interpreted (1Cor 14) he uses a greek word that refers to the translation of foreign language - hermencuo - when not used to describe the exoisition of scripture is means to translate what is spoken in a foreign language into the vernacular
@mRwhite298 speaking in tongues is unsound babble and any fool can do it - including voodoo practitioners and shamans - it is a counterfeit - you cannot replicate the miracle - you are simply using a carnal facade of language to make youself feel spiritual...
@etherform66 i dont make nothing i only repeating what is written in HOLY SCRIPTURE(BIIBLE)exposing liars&decivers TRUE MIRACLE JESUS CHRIST was do,born with miracle with no intervention of human father by sex, feeding 5000 people with 2 fish and few loaf of bread, creating new par of eyes from speat and dust healing blind sick by touch, raising dead lazarus after 4 day ,walking on face of water in middle of storm, MIRACLE IS ACT OF DIVINE INTERVENTION and this babble that shamans do is not miracle
@mRwhite298 haha your babble is no miracle either! You see, tounges were a sign to the unbeliever - how can it be a sign to the unbeliver when the unbeliever speaks it?! Ecstatic speach (tongue speaking dribble) PREDATES CHRISTIANITY - the earliest forms of ecstatic speach goes back as far as the 11th century BC in egypt. It is used by cults all over the world - this is no divine miracle. Any fool can do it and it amazes only the gullible and mentally unstable.
@etherform66 TRUE GIFT SPEAKING IN TONGUE SPEECH First Christians was have to breake language barrier, Christian Preacher would come to pagans and under GOD HOLY SPIRIT Christian would speak in native language of pagan listener who would listen JEW who speak in Hebreic and CHRIST HOLY SPIRIT would translate in Greek or German etc in evry language of pagans and people would accept or reject message of SALVATION in this days where tehnology translate all language this GIFT IS NOT NEEDED
@etherform66 GOD GIFT OF SPEAKING IN DIFFERENT TONGUE is not speaking in your own language among your neighbors who understend your speech,But you travel thru world and evry where you speak in language of native people and you did not learn language of this people,Because GOD HOLY SPIRIT intercide in translation of your speech,
@etherform66 voodoo practitioners speak under influance of satan unholy rebellius spirit that bring confusion SPEAKING IN TONGUE UNDER GIFT OF HOLY SPIRIT BREAKING ALL LANGUAGE BARIERS and strangers who listen VOICE OF PERSON WHO IS UNDER INFLUANCE OF HOLY SPIRIT listen message with sound words ,where do you find that satanic woodoo have enything with CHRISTIANITY & HOLY SPIRIT people who practice communion with demonic spirits thru woodoo rituals are abominations in GOD HOLY EYES
These people are NOT filled with the HOLY Spirit, but with demons. Everytime they 'speak in their tongues,' they open themselves up to demonic torment and infiltration.
@bowlinthebuff The enemy speaks in tongues, too. He is hoping there are diehard, dogmatic 'believers' that blindly open themselves up to tongue talking-making them believe that they are talking to God-and the enemy does NOT know what they are saying. When it is the enemy speaking thru many charismatic and pentecostal believers. I wont argue with you. I just warn. And educate. GBU
Lilbrat2367 is soooo right! God said he will not give that gift with more than 2 people Because it looks chaotic and keeps people from God. Speaking in tongue, the gift is given in 2 ways, either sent with someone who was given the gift of interpretation OR when someone is speaking in tongue everyone can hear it in their own language, at once... what these people are doing is not a gift from God.
i like how he said when you experience it you don't care what other people say, but i just cant wait till judgement day when we get to see all those people who said we were crazy, and watch God say depart from me you workers of iniquity "he's coming soon" :D
Oh My!! This is SO fake!! I totally believe in speaking in tongues and so therefore I know without a doubt that "You can NOT speak in tongues just because someone asked you to". If someone says speak in tongues and you do it "SNAP" just like that?; I promise the Holy Ghost is NOT in it! 1 Corinthians 14:28 says: But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
Some of the examples used in this video aren't the best of speaking in tongues. So don't knock it without experiencing it first hand from TRUE Holy Ghost-filled people or speaking it yourself!
@firuinthehouse I've got some bad news for you. That verse does not appear in the earliest and most reliable manuscripts of Mark. Which means, it got added many years later by another writer. Which is why it does not appear in more reliable modern translations. Which means your entire doctrine is constructed on a foundation of horseshit.
@SufferinSprings I'm sure Jesus (and/or whatever gods you pray to) would have used the exact same language in a conversation, very noble of you :)
I have no doctrine, I'm an agnostic and prefer the direct experience of the non-material, through generous use of psychoactive plants and mushrooms. The only thing that I can say about all religions 'of the book', is that they are all severely deluded.
Jews, Muslims, Christians, makes absolutely no difference.
@revkeithbarr religion is not good for anything more than a couple laughs. it has plagued humanity for thousands of years and is slowly dying out. reason is rendering religion obsolete. you can keep on believing in your celestial tyrannical father figure but i won't bow down.
I have attended numerous churchs of all kinds of denominations and speaking in tongues seems to be an exclusive church doctrine for only pentacostals or some spin off of that denomination. So far, haven't heard any members of a Presbyterian, Baptist, Catholic, Jew, Mormon, Methodist religion speak in tongues. I guess the Pentacostals are more holier than all of them. Anybody seen Mother Theresa speak tongues? You, a sinner is not worthy to even speak to God, so why do you think He sent His Son?
@KnightTemplari Most of those other denominations speak against it so they do not practice it in their services. I talked to a certain pastor of a certain denomination and I was sharing with him about the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and speaking in tongues. He gave me different arguments aginst it but I explained them all away with scripture. Finally he told me if he made any mention of speaking in tongues or heavenly language he would be fired the next day and put out of his home.
@knighttemp He said he wasn't ready to go through that. Probably most Pentecostals come from families that were of a different denomination but witnessed the reality of the power of God and saw his miracles and converted. I heard a Southern Baptist preacher that said over 25% of their denomination believe in or practice speaking in tongues. As people are exposed to it they are seeking it and experiencing it. Millions of Catholics & people of other denominations speak in tongues.
Read 1 Corinthians 14:1-25. Believers cannot make up their own interpretation of what it means to "Speak in Tongues".... it has been perverted to serve self interest.
I am late to this no doubt but which "speaking in tongues" does this refer to? "Speaking in tongues" as in the babbling gibberish the Southerners claim as tongues (that over 60% of these groups' participants claim they can do)...or the actual "Brain clocks out and the mouth ends up literally speaking another actual *language* without the speaker knowing said language previously"?
If I do come off as skeptical...I am skeptical. I have seen far too many phonies in my day.
@YrNhanioArnaYMor I understand your scepticism but it is not a southern thing. There are 600 million pentecostals world wide and less than 40 million in the U.S. It is harder to make up stuff even if it is jibberish than to repeat somehting you know. The mouth can't work without the brain controlling it. That is why they said this was remarkable. We speak in tongues when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. He gives us the power to pray for the sick to be healed in His name.
@revkeithbarr Being blind myself, I will admit I am a bit of a tougher customer regarding "eyewitnessing" anything as it were (And I'm rather okay with my lack of working eyes. I'm...actually not fond of the whole "I am afflicted, I must be HEAL-ED!" thing...but that's just me.)
Yes, it is much more difficult to repeat gibberish as, well...it's gibberish. I believe there's a description of "Speaking in Tongues" in I Corinthians, is it? That one or in Acts, can't recall which.
@YrNhanioArnaYMor Google the University of Indiania study on Personal Intercessory Prayer. They documented people that were healed of blindness and deafness in this study. I have 60 videos of my own. Check out my channel.
@YrNhanioArnaYMor Sometimes God in his mercy overlooks someone's ignorance (I don't mean to be rude) and heals them. Once I was in a service and I went to a man who had a broken foot. I said let me pray for you. He said nah that all right. I ignored him and bent down and touched his foot and God instantly healed him. I took his crutches and after much goading made him walk. When he took a few steps he turned around and looked at me in unbelief. I said "What's wrong?" He said
@revkeithbarr all my life I've seen this on tv and I always thought it was fake. But now I know it's real. You have a right to be sceptical but that's why He gives us miracles to convince people. If you don't want to be healed no one is saying you have to be. I'm only saying God can heal you. Lift your hands towards heaven and ask God for forgiveness and ask Him to touch you and bless you (make happy). Draw closer to God and He will draw closer to you.
@revkeithbarr great, I wonder why they still divide themselves by their very own church doctrine. Can we get a catholic tongue speaker communicate with a baptist tongue speaker in another part of the country? Shouldn't be no different.....the language shouldn't deviate, right? To this day, no two have communicated with each other or been able to interpet it. People have their endorphins heightened to get the feeling of euphoria that's more likely what happened.Brain chemical imbalance.
@revkeithbarr I'd rather keep my free will, thank you. And to clarify, I was born this way. If any Divine figure wanted me to not be blind, don't you think I would logically, have been born with sight?
I would think so. I prefer logical Gods myself. And yes, I am a Polytheist.
@YrNhanioArnaYMor Yes I too would like to know if this is talking about the meaningless gibberish those lowly, uneducated "Southerners" babble, or the meaningless gibberish that this snob here is referring to?
Well, you know the Lord- he has a good sense of humor....always takin the silly, stupid things, and the despised and showin us smart- aleck college boys a few things!! Tongues made me a believer!!
Speaking in tongues from the Holy Spirit to our disciples to spread the Word on the Day of Pentecost (Acts). Nowadays the bible is translated into all languages. We do not need to speak in tongues anymore!! This is falsehood through the devil which make us think we can speak in tongues. Ask yourself...why do I need to speak in tongues when our Holy Bible is translated. Also, if we speak in tongues, yet we do not understand it and others do not understand it, why would the Holy Spirit allow it???
Speaking in tongues was from the Holy Spirit given to our disciples to spread the Word. Nowadays the bible is translated into all languages. We do not need to speak in tongues anymore!! This is falsehood through the devil which make us think we can speak in tongues now. Ask your self...why do I need to speak in tongues when our Holy Bible is trans;lated. Also, if we speak in tongues, yet we do not understand it and others do not understand it, why would the Holy Spirit allow it???
So you say when someone is speaking tongues, it is THE holy spirit speaking through you, then how come there were so many of you speaking tongues at the same time, how is he saying so many different things at once to so many different people at the same time.
@floorwalker80 That is an easy question, iMean the HolySpirit simply is God in action & force. & God is Omnipresent, everywhere; & Omnipotent, all powerful; && Omnicient, all knowing.. He can do it all, cuz he can, & cuz he needs 2. & iDo have Scriptures 2Back all that up, bro..
@floorwalker80 An omnipotent all knowing, all powerful being that is our creator....Divinity cannot be understood by any one or any group of minds at all, such mysteries if we are lucky will be explained when we pass over to the next life
Just by looking at the brain scans I can tell what is wrong there and why speaking in English is different than "tongues." In English there is more brain activity in the frontal lobe because you acctually understand what you are saying, the brain clicks with this word means a certain thing. Yet with these tongues the frontal lobe is less active because there is no connection of meaning to the sounds being made. If you talked to a scientist with no bias I'm sure he would say the same.
The part about speaking in tongues and healing the sick was acctually ADDED by later scribes and was NOT in the original biblical scripture. In Mark there originally was no account of Jesus raising from the dead. Mary was told by a man in a white robe, she fled and that was it, so the part about tongues and healing the sick is not in the earliest scripture texts. The reason "speaking in tongues" doesn't show on an MRI is because they are just making sounds, that's it.
@Thenewfallingsacred That is totally ridiculous on so many levels. The mouth can't normally work without the language center controlling it. That's what makes the study remarkable and why it was not challenged in the scientific community. God's power is real and I have witnessed thousands of miracles of healing, exocisms and many other demonstrations of the Holy Ghost. This is real and that's why pentecostal believers have grown from 100's to over 600,000,000 in 100 years.
@revkeithbarr - Even so how does that prove that it has anything to do with God and isn't just another scientific phenomenon that has yet to be explained? You have absolutely no scientific or factual basis about what you think you saw. How do you know that exorsisms are not just someone who is mentally ill having a strong episode? Or that they could be outright faking it? Don't get your statistics from Wiki because that is weak and is not a reputable site for accurate information.
@Thenewfallingsacred Look at my other videos. I have personally prayed for thousands that have been healed. Everything that is described in the New Testament I experience through the power of the Holy Ghost. I do mean everything. Visions, dreams prophetic uttereances to name a few. I've seen people floating, walking up walls, spitting up buckets of blood and black bile and vomit with no smell when I was casting demons out and experieced incredible power when I was doing this
@revkeithbarr I've also believed that I had experienced visions and prophetic dreams. I also believed that I had once seen an angel but now believe that it could be something completely mental considering even healthy people can hallucinate and have delusions. I don't believe the floating, walking up walls, blood, black bile or any of that because you have no visual proof and if you did it is very easy to fake something like that.
@Thenewfallingsacred I have over 60 videos of miracles of healing. Check them out. When the Holy Ghost comes upon you and fills you with his power it is the greatest feeling on earth. That's why people are coming by the millions to experience this and have witnessed this for themselves all over the world.
@revkeithbarr - Videos are not tangible evidence to me but I will check them out anyway. Anyone can say that they have been miraculously healed and yet either had no ailments to begin with or they just got better which happens. Some people have cancer one day and wake up with none the next day which can possibly be explained. (certain medications given may have killed the cancer) The mind is a powerful thing and sometimes that's all it takes to "heal" someone.
@revkeithbarr I agree, the above post by newfalling whatever has no merit. I've seen people who really believe it's a language for them and I've seen folks who I know are just mimicing what they see around them Very hard to say for sure, I do know Paul calls it the least of the gifts, so in the grand scheme of things, I don't think it's very important. Probably serving others ranks higher on the spiritual scale than trying to decipher a tongue.
@Thenewfallingsacred sorry to say that you are wrong. Jesus said you will receive the holy spirit and people will speak in different tongues. I HAVE IT! Not every Christian has it. And you just put a limit on God and Jesus and what HE can do.
@LiLRo916 - What proof do you have that I'm wrong? Obviously the brain activity while speaking tongues is less and slightly different because they are not connecting meaning to whatever is being spoken. It's not a "Gift" When anyone can do it and trust me everyone can. By the way the part In Mark about speaking in tongues and healing people was added by later scribes and is not apart of the older scripture.
@LiLRo916 pentecostal tounge speaking is not a language of any description - it is a cheap counterfeit of a true miracle. Any fool, christian or non christian, can babble away non-sensically. Only someone under the power of the Holy Spirit can fluently speak a language they never studied - like an englishman suddenly being able to speak fluent russian without ANY prior knowledge of the dialect. Can you do that lil? No you cant.. your 'gift' is a delusion.
@etherform66 You certainly better hope that this person's "gift" is a delusion, because if it is not, you have just blasphemed the Holy Spirit and an eternity in Hell's searing flames awaits you, jackass.
@SufferinSprings oh it is a delusion, make no mistake - additionally, your pagan doctrine of eternal damnation is another filthy lie - keep your forked tounge behind you teeth and slither off back to your den - you charasmatics are ill informed peddlers of paganism and you have eroded the foundations of true spirituality....
@etherform66 Charismatic? I'm not even a Christian dude. I used to be - which is why I know how to say just the right things to wind up idiots like you. I see that I succeeded.
@SufferinSprings well if your not a christian then your not entitled to make comment on things if this nature - go comment on justin bebers hair-do or how to dress in drag - you know, things your conversant with..
@Thenewfallingsacred then explain how when I speaking in tongues, someone was able to understand it and I was saying 'SON OF GOD, TEACH'. not everyone can do it because you dont think about what ur saying ur saying words that automatically come out. Please just ask God to reveal the truth to you. God Bless you.
Im christian and i believe this but one thing. One cant control when to speak tongue. This video made it seemed as anyone can do it when they want to. Doesnt work that way
@emmalizbrown He's right. In 1 Cor. 14, Paul discusses this at length and concludes that, if you are going to do it, do it privately, so people won't come in to the Church and think you are drunk, or crazy. Look it up.
Speaking in tongues, as some people may think, is not gibberish. It is actually the most intelligent language in the world because it is God's language.
10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe,[a] because our testimony among you was believed.
6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, 7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, 4 so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, 5 which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer;
confession unto repentance ! jesus i am a sinner not worthy of your precious blood shed on calvary. please forgive me of my sins, and cleanse me from my unrighteousness. i will turn from my wrong doing and try to never do it again . if i do fall short. then i have an advocate with the father. not an excuse to sin . but only a way to forgiveness please father have your will and not my own. reveal to me my wrong and lead me to my redeemer only you JESUS CHRIST GOD OF ISREAL
i only speak out of compassion, care, and consideration of a lost person who is on their way to damnation. tongues are more than real they are only given to those who are baptized in the holyspirit. god is not with everyone who claims to be of god. that's why jesus said to test the spirit 1 john4;1 no matter how much i study the word of god these things aren't revealed by man. only by god.
my prayer is not that i have offended anyone, but rather allowed them to think outside of everyday understanding. jesus wants us to live by faith not to think like mankind ,flesh, or what the bible considers to be the carnal mind . i am myself nobody nothing ! i don't consider myself to be wise or holy ,or just. only a man! in fact jesus said he would use the foolish things to confound the wise 1 corinthians 1;27 when people speak about god without the word of god. then be weary or skeptical
Job 33:27-30 (NIV) ..."I sinned and perverted what was right, but I did not get what I deserved. He redeemed my soul from going down to the pit, and I will live to enjoy the light of life." God does all these things to a man--twice, even three times--to turn back his soul from the pit, that the light of life may shine on him."
one day all will see the truth, and god does not have to convince us of anything !!! he owes us nothing ! rather we owe him for the death and ressurection of our lord jesus christ. for those who dont believe they are already condemned, it's not god condemning them but they are of themselves . god's mercy will not always be here ! his patience towards us has been longsuffering . but will come to an end.Job 33:27-30 (NIV) ..."I sinned and perverted what was right, but I did not get what I deserved
we seem to have an itching ear always wanting to hear what makes us happy... joel olsteen could just be a positive speaker and use the word of god to influence the crowd. or maybe he is only speaking to people who already believe to encourage them ?
that is 1 timothy 6;17-19 joel olsteen may be blessed because his father served god in the past and his seed was blessed . however money means nothing.and regardless of this medical study faith in god is not faith in man ? who is jesus talking to when he says Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers matthew 7;22-23
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life
i agree , the principle behind saying talking in tongues was after the death and ressurection of jesus is because jesus and the holy spirit are one ! god the father god the son and god the holy ghost. why would jesus need to talk to himself in tongues??? when jesus prayed it was to teach us how we should pray... and to be obedient to the father who sent him. the holy spirit was given for us . silent prayer ? im sorry but jesus says different ... luke 19;40
MARK 16:17 PLEASE READ THE BIBLE BEFORE SAYING THAT TONGUES ARE NOT ALIVE STILL TODAY. IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE CHRIST JESUS THEN YOU BELIEVE WHAT HE SPOKE AND LEFT FOR US TO KNOW.
@masontonio You actually said something very true. Serpent and snake in the bible is not literal most of the time. It is actually spiritual also known as demons. I wont say that God cant instantly heal someone if they did happen to pick up a snake and get bit. Nothing is impossible for Him so he can do whatever he chooses to. I guess I should've specified but as always once we get on youtube and leave comments the first thing everyone wants to do is look to see who they can attack
@culostinks I certainly believe in God and Christ. Out of the people I see who speak in tongues, I haven't seen a maturity in their walk that convinces me they are being led by the H.S.
@masontonio Not saying that you" attacked" me but you know what I mean....everyone wants to be right, or the one who knows more, or thinks they are the wisest because of how many books they've read or studied. Truth is no one can really claim to know or talk about something that they have not lived or experienced. Sometimes what is not understood is easier to attack instead of keeping an open mind about it.
@culostinks I respectfully disagree that you have to live or experience....that's the whole point of "Study" is to understand a myriad of subjects w/o having to experience them. From my study, I believe Tongues as we call them today are largely an emotional experience. This video doesn't really prove anything. The gibberish we hear people calling "tongues" is certainly not a language like Acts tells us it was.
@masontonio Yes not at all am I saying that this video is it, that here is the proof and evidence of tongues. Just supports the possibility. I too have seen people who have spoken in tongues and have believed it to be emotion too but on the other hand I have seen the real thing also when it is the spirit because of the interpretation and clarity that comes with it. I try not to pass judgement on people though because in all honesty none of us are perfect so I leave it up to God to
@masontonio deal with anyone who willingly fakes speaking in tongues. If it was all just a thing of emotional experience then why did Jesus who is the Son of God ,the way to God,our salvation and the one who said that after He was gone He was leaving us the Holy Spirit and that tongues would be one of the signs that would follow those that believe...Why did He say that then, just for the heck of it? I'm just trying to understand how you believe in Christ but not in what He spoke of.
@culostinks Tell you what, Scripture tells us to rightly divide the word of truth. You're referring to the Holy Spirit and tongues in your post. Give me a scripture you want to specifically discuss and I'll be happy to do so. I don't believe in making vague accusations. Let's be specific.
@masontonio If someone who has never given birth to a child before but has watched videos and read and studied all there is to study and research on child birth, does that mean that they can say that they know what child birth is like? The feelings, the pain, the reality of it just because they have studied it? Or is it fair to say that maybe they may have an idea of what may be expected but surely don't really know compared to someone who has actually given birth before.?
@culostinks My point is, you don't have to experience everything in life to understand it. I can study the effects of Heroin on a person and pretty much understand the effects without trying it myself.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Take note of the one line that says "will send"
Meaning that the Holy Spirit is not sent when Jesus was born, it was sent after he died. On the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4)
The study does not prove Holy Spirit praying. The researcher himself stated that the data cannot explain WHY the frontal lobe loses activity during tongues. So it could be either because humans are not mentally involved in producing the language, or it could be because it is not a real language at all. Hearing how many highly repetitious sounds they often make (like "ba-ba-ba-ba"), I have to suspect it is more gibberish than a language, heavenly or not. But God is free to convice me otherwise.
how come Joel Osteen can't speak in tongues.....he's got all that wealth, followers, a regular tv show, a stadium, 2 mansions.....yet people think he is "in" with God, and some folks think he is blessed..........but so far, Joel's lips remain seal about speaking in tongues.
wow if you are not for me you're against me and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. matthew 12;30 handle a snake? i hope not the bible says you shalt not tempt the lord thy god..... but know this there is only one master and you who worship man are taking the mark of the beast!!!!! look up knight templar free mason occult and demonic worship ? repent and turn from this wickedness that jesus the only christ may forgive us all .....
therefore my brethren be eager to prophesy and do not forbid speaking in tongues! 1 corinthians 14;39 .....Mark 16:15-17 He [Jesus] said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues.
READ YOUR BIBLE !!! DON'T LISTEN TO DEMONIC PEOPLE WHO HATE GOD
mind manipulation is what you see in tv shows all around you all the foolishness and lust of this world .... jesus said as a man thinketh so is he ,proverbs 23;7 ... to not be like this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind romans 12;2 and as far as tongues are concerned ?? i spent a long time wondering about tongues and if anyone would doubt it would be me... it's real!!! it only takes a step of faith ,tongues are not only then our god is the same yesterday , today, and forever
is it jibberish it's called faith and it's called the power of the holy ghost! how can you say that you once had a gift from god and now it's not ? is this blasphemy ? are god's gifts not good enough for a mere human that they would be unthankful and unholy to persecute the children of god almighty? jibberish is when you speak of the things of god without the word of god! and does your lack of faith control anything ? jesus said the just shall live by faith.but if any draw back habakkuk 2;4
Medical study does not prove that...It is caused by mind manipulation by the church cults...I am a victem of it. Also the tongues in the bible IS NOT! that gibberish mess...The tongues in the bible, is ONLY that of the parablic language of the angles..which is the metaphoirical language spoken by the prophets and by Jesus. The tongues mentioed in the bible, is spoken by their own native language...
These people are NOT speaking in tongues. Tongue mean language. These people are speaking meaningless gibberish that has nothing to do with what the bible says the gift was originally for.
@TheAussiepreacher No there isn't. That verse was a rebuke from Paul about disorder in the church. Tongues are a sign for those who do not believe. This heavenly language as you call it, is not even a language. They aren't even words. Tongues are a sign to those who do not believe 1 Corinthians 14 22
@310revelation The context of 1 Corinthians 13 is a rebuke, but nonetheless he says there are heavenly languages. Tongues is a sign for unbelievers, but it is also intimate communion with God in a language no man understands(1 Cor 14:2). It is also for personal edification (1 Cor 14:4).
Remember the infamous defunct rev. Robert Tilton...blabbing his mouth on TV then going into brief "tongue" jibberish? He had been deceiving so many people who showered him with tons of money, so how can the Holy Spirit gift him with tongue speaking when all along he had been deceptive? To me, tongue speaking of the heavenly language will occur after judgment by Christ and you are allowed to be heaven. It's just hype and sensationalism...hmmm, I feel like handling a rattlesnake all ready.
I don't "SPEAK in tongs" but when I pray, I see a flow of pictures. Sometimes it's intense and I see things I've never seen before or are impossible (if anything is). It's not like the Revelation and if I try to remember it stops, but it's fantastic and beautiful and I feel it all! I can't do anything but enjoy it and be pressent. Maybe it's my subconscious imagination, but hey, he created that as well as the rest! I can only praise him and wonder if you could call it "SEEING in tongues".
I believe that when one speaks in tongues they are not speaking in any known language.. They are speaking the language of the soul.. Known language constricts our ability to express ourselves from our very soul.. If we let go of that constriction and talk from our soul then we can truly, as that lady stated, tap into the language of the Angels, of God..
Do not make fun of this.. I have been an atheist for about 9 years but i recently turned to God... Since i found God i have felt much comfort in my life, i used to be so depressed yet now i look at the world and feel thankful for every day whether it be shining or full of rain. I bless the life on this planet, the trees and the animals. Now i pray to God every night before i go to sleep. No i may not go to church and such but i still believe in a mightier being watching over us.
@ShroudedFury How awesome! God rejoices over you and ofcourse you are aware that He LOVES you. I didn't believe at one time either but He sure changed my mind :)
I have a friend who was saved a few years ago. Upon repenting and being born again, filled with the Holy Spirit of God, she would have dreams, standing upon a mountain top arms raised up to heaven and singing the most incredible songs in an unknown tongue. She prays privately in tongues but understands that IF she speaks in tongues there MUST be an interpreter present. We must seek the Lord to know WHAT tongues we are speaking. Many speaking in tongues have often been found blaspheming Jesus
It should be pointed out that all of these occurrences of "speaking in tongues" are actually in violation of what Paul laid out as the requirements for this practice to be used in a service. 1 Cor. 14:27 says, "If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret." Paul even criticized what many would call a "private prayer language" in 1 Cor. 14:13-19, by saying that it is unfruitful to pray in a tongue and not be able to understand it.
The occurrence in Acts 2 is actually a miracle of hearing, not speaking, and the languages were known human languages that had not been learned. This phenomenon illustrated above is eccentricity. Simply reference 1 Cor. 14:33 and weigh whether this honors God.
@mchaywood83 - that is horrible hermeneutics. You would have to ignore so much to pull that interpretation. My guess is you were raised in a non pentecostal denomination
@southronpartisan: Please elaborate. To say that is poor hermeneutic without substantiating your claim is an empty accusation. There is not more natural reading of the text than to read Paul as speaking of the gifts in the context of the local church. A private prayer language fits outside of that context and does not build up the body, especially when it is unintelligible. You cannot read 1 Cor. 14:3-5 and not see Paul's argument that preaching trumps tongues.
@mchaywood83 youtube is hardly the venue to educate you on such a thing. The simple answer is you must read any text in the scope of the entritiy of scripture and when you do that to accept your interpretation would mean Paul was Schizophrenic. Also you must keep the audience it was written for in mind as well. Many times Paul tells one church one thing and another church something else because of the people in the church and their particular circumstance. cont...
@southronpartisan: You are doing the very thing you accuse me of. Everywhere else in the NT where tongues is referred to is a known human language, though unknown to to speaker (not unintelligible, but unlearned). The principle you lay out would then require one to take the overwhelming number of texts where tongues are known human languages and dismiss this theory of ecstatic utterances. Also, Paul never contradicts himself, even when giving different instructions to churches.
@mchaywood83 - Now you are inferring your interpretation that all tongues is Glossolalia. Not so at all. So when Paul says I speak in tongues more than you all is he saying he simply speaking only in known languages. Careful how you respond because the Greek is really clear there is a difference.
@southronpartisan: No, you are not reading my comments. I am arguing the opposite. I do not believe in glossolalia. I believe that is exactly what Paul is speaking against in 1 Cor. 14. It is very clear that Acts 2 is known human languages, which is not glossolalia. I too know and use Greek and have done plenty of study on the subject. We both should remember that this is a very debated passage, but I think you and I agree more than we differ.
I simply do not believe that a private prayer language is consistent with Spiritual Gifts, since they are given for the building up of the whole body and not the individual person. They are to be used in the context of the whole church, and this would rule out "private" prayer languages.
The cultural context of Corinth involved cultic practices that were being mixed with Christian worship. It is well attested that cults in the ancient world used glossolalia in their worship. I believe that Paul is making a distinction between this practice and promoting the preaching of the word instead of what the Corinthians were doing.
@mchaywood83 true but then by your logic Paul is a false teacher then and he taught cultic practices. But you are correct Corinthians is clear that it is more profitable to a church for public proclamation than to speak in tongues with no interpretation. That is why he said there must be an interpretation and if none come you are to pray for it so that all may be edified. Thus again why this is about public use of tongues not private.
The fact that the speech centres are not working proves that it's not real speech but babbling nonsense.

mRwhite298 23 hours ago

8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?

mRwhite298 22 hours ago
@mRwhite298 you have proven nothing..the disciples spoke in foreign languages that were hitherto unknown to them, in the very languages of the natives of the foregn lands who were presently assembled before them. When Paul discusses the need for tongues to be interpreted (1Cor 14) he uses a greek word that refers to the translation of foreign language - hermencuo - when not used to describe the exoisition of scripture is means to translate what is spoken in a foreign language into the vernacular

KnightTemplari 2 days ago
@KnightTemplari Most of those other denominations speak against it so they do not practice it in their services. I talked to a certain pastor of a certain denomination and I was sharing with him about the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and speaking in tongues. He gave me different arguments aginst it but I explained them all away with scripture. Finally he told me if he made any mention of speaking in tongues or heavenly language he would be fired the next day and put out of his home.
revkeithbarr 2 days ago
@knighttemp He said he wasn't ready to go through that. Probably most Pentecostals come from families that were of a different denomination but witnessed the reality of the power of God and saw his miracles and converted. I heard a Southern Baptist preacher that said over 25% of their denomination believe in or practice speaking in tongues. As people are exposed to it they are seeking it and experiencing it. Millions of Catholics & people of other denominations speak in tongues.

Read 1 Corinthians 14:1-25. Believers cannot make up their own interpretation of what it means to "Speak in Tongues".... it has been perverted to serve self interest.
bigcoggin 3 days ago
I am late to this no doubt but which "speaking in tongues" does this refer to? "Speaking in tongues" as in the babbling gibberish the Southerners claim as tongues (that over 60% of these groups' participants claim they can do)...or the actual "Brain clocks out and the mouth ends up literally speaking another actual *language* without the speaker knowing said language previously"?
If I do come off as skeptical...I am skeptical. I have seen far too many phonies in my day.
YrNhanioArnaYMor 3 days ago
@YrNhanioArnaYMor I understand your scepticism but it is not a southern thing. There are 600 million pentecostals world wide and less than 40 million in the U.S. It is harder to make up stuff even if it is jibberish than to repeat somehting you know. The mouth can't work without the brain controlling it. That is why they said this was remarkable. We speak in tongues when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. He gives us the power to pray for the sick to be healed in His name.

Yes, it is much more difficult to repeat gibberish as, well...it's gibberish. I believe there's a description of "Speaking in Tongues" in I Corinthians, is it? That one or in Acts, can't recall which.

I said "What's wrong?" He said
revkeithbarr 2 days ago

Thenewfallingsacred 6 days ago
@Thenewfallingsacred That is totally ridiculous on so many levels. The mouth can't normally work without the language center controlling it. That's what makes the study remarkable and why it was not challenged in the scientific community. God's power is real and I have witnessed thousands of miracles of healing, exocisms and many other demonstrations of the Holy Ghost. This is real and that's why pentecostal believers have grown from 100's to over 600,000,000 in 100 years.
revkeithbarr 5 days ago
@revkeithbarr - Even so how does that prove that it has anything to do with God and isn't just another scientific phenomenon that has yet to be explained? You have absolutely no scientific or factual basis about what you think you saw. How do you know that exorsisms are not just someone who is mentally ill having a strong episode? Or that they could be outright faking it? Don't get your statistics from Wiki because that is weak and is not a reputable site for accurate information.

@revkeithbarr - Videos are not tangible evidence to me but I will check them out anyway. Anyone can say that they have been miraculously healed and yet either had no ailments to begin with or they just got better which happens.

LiLRo916 3 days ago
@LiLRo916 - What proof do you have that I'm wrong? Obviously the brain activity while speaking tongues is less and slightly different because they are not connecting meaning to whatever is being spoken. It's not a "Gift" When anyone can do it and trust me everyone can. By the way the part In Mark about speaking in tongues and healing people was added by later scribes and is not apart of the older scripture.
Thenewfallingsacred 3 days ago
@LiLRo916 pentecostal tounge speaking is not a language of any description - it is a cheap counterfeit of a true miracle. Any fool, christian or non christian, can babble away non-sensically. Only someone under the power of the Holy Spirit can fluently speak a language they never studied - like an englishman suddenly being able to speak fluent russian without ANY prior knowledge of the dialect. Can you do that lil? No you cant.. your 'gift' is a delusion.

@etherform66 You certainly better hope that this person's "gift" is a delusion, because if it is not, you have just blasphemed the Holy Spirit and an eternity in Hell's searing flames awaits you, jackass.

masontonio 1 week ago
@masontonio You actually said something very true. Serpent and snake in the bible is not literal most of the time. It is actually spiritual also known as demons. I wont say that God cant instantly heal someone if they did happen to pick up a snake and get bit. Nothing is impossible for Him so he can do whatever he chooses to. I guess I should've specified but as always once we get on youtube and leave comments the first thing everyone wants to do is look to see who they can attack
culostinks 1 week ago
@masontonio But do you ask that question because you don't believe in God or the reality that the tongues are real?
culostinks 1 week ago
@culostinks I certainly believe in God and Christ. Out of the people I see who speak in tongues, I haven't seen a maturity in their walk that convinces me they are being led by the H.S.
masontonio 1 week ago
@masontonio Not saying that you" attacked" me but you know what I mean....everyone wants to be right, or the one who knows more, or thinks they are the wisest because of how many books they've read or studied. Truth is no one can really claim to know or talk about something that they have not lived or experienced. Sometimes what is not understood is easier to attack instead of keeping an open mind about it.
culostinks 1 week ago
@culostinks I respectfully disagree that you have to live or experience....that's the whole point of "Study" is to understand a myriad of subjects w/o having to experience them. From my study, I believe Tongues as we call them today are largely an emotional experience. This video doesn't really prove anything. The gibberish we hear people calling "tongues" is certainly not a language like Acts tells us it was.
masontonio 1 week ago
@masontonio Yes not at all am I saying that this video is it, that here is the proof and evidence of tongues. Just supports the possibility. I too have seen people who have spoken in tongues and have believed it to be emotion too but on the other hand I have seen the real thing also when it is the spirit because of the interpretation and clarity that comes with it. I try not to pass judgement on people though because in all honesty none of us are perfect so I leave it up to God to
culostinks 1 week ago
@masontonio deal with anyone who willingly fakes speaking in tongues. If it was all just a thing of emotional experience then why did Jesus who is the Son of God ,the way to God,our salvation and the one who said that after He was gone He was leaving us the Holy Spirit and that tongues would be one of the signs that would follow those that believe...Why did He say that then, just for the heck of it? I'm just trying to understand how you believe in Christ but not in what He spoke of.
culostinks 1 week ago
@culostinks Tell you what, Scripture tells us to rightly divide the word of truth. You're referring to the Holy Spirit and tongues in your post. Give me a scripture you want to specifically discuss and I'll be happy to do so. I don't believe in making vague accusations. Let's be specific.

@masontonio If someone who has never given birth to a child before but has watched videos and read and studied all there is to study and research on child birth, does that mean that they can say that they know what child birth is like? The feelings, the pain, the reality of it just because they have studied it? Or is it fair to say that maybe they may have an idea of what may be expected but surely don't really know compared to someone who has actually given birth before.?
culostinks 1 week ago
@culostinks My point is, you don't have to experience everything in life to understand it. I can study the effects of Heroin on a person and pretty much understand the effects without trying it myself.

14:13-19, by saying that it is unfruitful to pray in a tongue and not be able to understand it.
mchaywood83 1 week ago
The occurrence in Acts 2 is actually a miracle of hearing, not speaking, and the languages were known human languages that had not been learned. This phenomenon illustrated above is eccentricity. Simply reference 1 Cor. 14:33 and weigh whether this honors God.
mchaywood83 1 week ago
@mchaywood83 - that is horrible hermeneutics. You would have to ignore so much to pull that interpretation. My guess is you were raised in a non pentecostal denomination
southronpartisan 1 week ago
@southronpartisan: Please elaborate. To say that is poor hermeneutic without substantiating your claim is an empty accusation. There is not more natural reading of the text than to read Paul as speaking of the gifts in the context of the local church. A private prayer language fits outside of that context and does not build up the body, especially when it is unintelligible. You cannot read 1 Cor. 14:3-5 and not see Paul's argument that preaching trumps tongues.
mchaywood83 1 week ago
@mchaywood83 youtube is hardly the venue to educate you on such a thing. The simple answer is you must read any text in the scope of the entritiy of scripture and when you do that to accept your interpretation would mean Paul was Schizophrenic. Also you must keep the audience it was written for in mind as well. Many times Paul tells one church one thing and another church something else because of the people in the church and their particular circumstance. cont...
southronpartisan 5 days ago
@southronpartisan: You are doing the very thing you accuse me of. Everywhere else in the NT where tongues is referred to is a known human language, though unknown to to speaker (not unintelligible, but unlearned). The principle you lay out would then require one to take the overwhelming number of texts where tongues are known human languages and dismiss this theory of ecstatic utterances. Also, Paul never contradicts himself, even when giving different instructions to churches.
mchaywood83 5 days ago
@mchaywood83 - Now you are inferring your interpretation that all tongues is Glossolalia. Not so at all. So when Paul says I speak in tongues more than you all is he saying he simply speaking only in known languages. Careful how you respond because the Greek is really clear there is a difference.
southronpartisan 5 days ago
@southronpartisan: No, you are not reading my comments. I am arguing the opposite. I do not believe in glossolalia. I believe that is exactly what Paul is speaking against in 1 Cor. 14. It is very clear that Acts 2 is known human languages, which is not glossolalia. I too know and use Greek and have done plenty of study on the subject. We both should remember that this is a very debated passage, but I think you and I agree more than we differ.
mchaywood83 5 days ago
I simply do not believe that a private prayer language is consistent with Spiritual Gifts, since they are given for the building up of the whole body and not the individual person. They are to be used in the context of the whole church, and this would rule out "private" prayer languages.
mchaywood83 5 days ago
@mchaywood83 and you are free to that opinion but unless you can prove it with book chapter and verse you cannot say it is not either.
southronpartisan 5 days ago
The cultural context of Corinth involved cultic practices that were being mixed with Christian worship. It is well attested that cults in the ancient world used glossolalia in their worship. I believe that Paul is making a distinction between this practice and promoting the preaching of the word instead of what the Corinthians were doing.
mchaywood83 5 days ago
@mchaywood83 true but then by your logic Paul is a false teacher then and he taught cultic practices. But you are correct Corinthians is clear that it is more profitable to a church for public proclamation than to speak in tongues with no interpretation. That is why he said there must be an interpretation and if none come you are to pray for it so that all may be edified. Thus again why this is about public use of tongues not private.
