Agreed. This is technology that belongs in space not on our planet. We have not fully developed natural ways of acquiring energy from the sun, wind and water currents. Nuclear technology will always pose extreme risks to people and our planet. Fusion is simply another method for the "elite" to maintain centralized control over power. It's expensive, dangerous, and unnecessary. Over-unity and magnetic motors have existed for decades and could be made as big or small as needed for any specific purpose (i.e. car, home, factory, tall building, etc.). The gas is pressurized and heated to an insane temperature, the hydrogen isotopes fuse and turn into helium, and produce energy. The waste product is harmless helium gas

You're thinking of fission which is splitting nuclei apart, rather than fusing them together and releasing part of their mass as pure energy because the helium nuclei weighs slightly less than the sum weight of the four hydrogen nuclei separately. That's nuclear fusion (also, an atom bomb uses fission, however a hydrogen bomb uses fusion)

@Uaz31 they are talking about fusion not fission.....Fission used uranium fuel in rods, Fusion would use a gas called helium three (H3). The gas is pressurized and heated to an insane temperature, the hydrogen isotopes fuse and turn into helium, and produce energy. The waste product is harmless helium gas

@Uaz31 Retiredtrucker is right, they're talking about nuclear fusion which produces no waste, and it doesn't use fuel rods nor uranium at all. You're thinking of fission which is splitting nuclei apart, rather than fusing them together and releasing part of their mass as pure energy because the helium nuclei weighs slightly less than the sum weight of the four hydrogen nuclei separately. That's nuclear fusion (also, an atom bomb uses fission, however a hydrogen bomb uses fusion)

@Uaz31 I mean they haven't put nearly enough funding into researching it...if they were to do so, the technology would probably arrive much more quickly. But more importantly, of all the forms of energy it poses the lowest risk while outputting the highest amount of energy. If struck, just about any power plant could cause disaster, but that's life...

Solar technology doesn't kill people neither does harnessing the wind or water currents and those technologies have not been develeoped to their full potentials as of yet. The dangers of nuclear technology outweigh the benefits, as there will always be more disasters like this, its not avoidable. The risk of lives and danger to our planet is not worth it. This is technology that belongs in space not on our planet

But yes, this isn't the time to wonder about how to solve nuclear plant issues or take better precautions. This is a time to move away from nuclear energy as fast as we can.

Fusion energy has a ton of problems on it's own, and it's even more sensitive to disaster than nuclear power. It's ideal, but most thing that are 'ideal' simply dont work. Like Communism. Or democracy.
