  • Great video!! :)

Now you Need to make a video about how to control the fan speeds.

  • Cool video. I would like to know if you could do a review of the g71gx, it would be much appreciated. Thanks make more videos!!!

  • I would also recommend using MSI Afterburner. You will have to crack the app to work on none MSI gpu's but it works fine on all brand of gpu. If you need help getting it to work I can provide links or email you the info. MSI Afterburner is very persistent in making sure you maintain a 1:1 Core:Shader Domain ratio for maximum gpu performance with minimal heat and maximum stability. It's like overclocking a cpu, You always want to maintain linearity between the cpu and ram.

  • Increasing the memory should not reduce stability either. Increasing by 50Mhz will help running at high resolution and higher resolution textures since memory controls how fast the gpu render's textures of resolutions. The core and shader domain control pixel shaders and polygon calculations. Therefore pulling a 1:1 by reducing the shader domain to match the core clock you will be killing it at 600Mhz and 1200Mhz.You might even be able to pull off 625Mhz core clock and a 1250Mhz shader domain

  • Try and keep a ratio on your gpu for best performance. What I mean by that is keeping a 1:1 ratio wih the core and shader clock. That way you run more reliably and perform with more throughput to. So it's 550mhz core, and what 1375Mhz on the shader. Be sure to download GPU-Z to see the difference on output changes. I would set the core clock to 600Mhz and Shader to 1200Mhz. That will give you better performance than 550 core and 1400mhz shader. Nvidia gpu's prefer linearity.

  • hey im highly considering this model of laptop! currently im rocking a now old school hp dv9000. running vista. graphics card GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M, processor AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 (2002 MHz). 4GB MY LAPTOP IS DEPRESSING! cuz i NEEED some games which i cannot play. i got cod4 working on low settings. but i can only play games on high performance and only like an hr and the laptop get super hot :( and your model is quite affordable :) and my model is 2008 so.........

  • any ideas i have the g60vx and i get nothing about the turbo extreme ? i am getting a message now when i am trying to download from a different seris ie g72 seris " turbo gear extreme only supports asus motherboards?

  • any ideas i have the g60vx and i get nothing about the turbo extreme ?

  • Unfortunately that's not the problem. It is plugged in and it still will not allow me to overclock.

  • I saw dude running full hd on his asus g71 . How he did that ?

  • On my turbo gear the upper left icon(lightning bolt to initiate overclock) is grayed out. Any advice?

  • @destroyer863 YOu need to plug power cord to get overclocking.

laptop battery won''t last long without it when overclocked

  • @destroyer863 Nvidia offers another tool that can can the cpu as well. I think it's called Nvidia System tools I think. You can set profiles to boot at your desired overclock rate. However I wouldn't recommend overclocking the cpu, since they run crazy hot anyway. Download intelburntest and try to pass the test on stock speeds. Run it 5 times at normal stress 32 threads max. 5 runs will last a couple minutes and it'll test it to the max to see if it's stable at it's stock clock.

  • So I fresh installed windows 7 and I am having some issues. I cant control the blinking lights on the side of the computer. But worst of all I cant get the back lit keyboard to work. Ive tried running my drivers from my disc and the asus website but there have been some issues.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • @Jensenism 1) download driver sweeper from guru 3d. 2) uninstall all ASUS drivers. 3) get into safe mode on your computer. 4) click the driver sweeper.exe. 5) check all ASUS driver. 6) reinstall all the driver from the ASUS site.

Try all of this and tell me your results.

  • @KingOfSand100

I actually tried running the CD in compatibility mode and it worked pretty ok. I got all my apps to run like normal. Still no back lit keyboard though :/.

  • @Jensenism yea idk what the issue with that is. i had the older g71 so mine didnt have a back lit keyboard. you might want to try and contact ASUS.

  • the video healped me

  • Thank you for a really clear instructional video and the fan noise comparison at the end...very illuminating!

  • is that head and shoulders in the background?

  • mine doesnt show overclocking mode, just the adjust O.o

  • @Fallout3NexusModding do you have the G71 laptop? and i am going to need more info than that. if you could can you send me a picture or your issue.

  • @KingOfSand100 i have the G71GX from best buy, i have some fan trouble... my cd dvd rom has been messing up andd its a big thing but i doubt it effects turbo gear, i have windows 7 also. whats your email?

  • Close sound was scary, like flying helicopter sound..,.

  • Why overclocking in bios is bad ?

  • @lauris47 overclocking in bios on a laptop is bad. laptops are not ment to be OCed anyways, its just safer to do it through software because if something goes wrong you can easaly fix it. and laptop BIOS does not have an OC feature.

  • Does the G71GX support EAX 4.0 like the other G series laptops?

  • Any idea if i can put a Q9000 in my G71GX-RX05

  • @okagebb Intel® Quad™ Core Processor Q9000 : 2.0 GHz

    Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T9600/T9550/T9400/P8800/P8700/P8600/P8400/T6600/T6500/T6400 : 2.8 GHz - 2.00 GHz,

these are all the compatable CPUs. i would go with the T9600 and not the q9000. its faster.

  • @KOScompuServe cool thanks man

  • @okagebb np, this is my old account :P

  • Hey, I have the same laptop model you have on this video, and I was wondering how you made the OLED panel work properly. I followed the instructions you said in this video and it still didn't work for me; my turbo gear won't work even if I try to run it from its folder. Also, the power saving button, whenever I press it, it always restarts the laptop and pops up a blue screen, then restart, then blue screen over and over again.

  • hey man, im looking at getting this exact laptop on Newegg ($800). I am having a really hard time deciding between this Asus laptop, and another Asus with a Core i5, ATI mobility radeon 5470, 4 gigs of DDR3 memory, and Windows 7 64bit ($850), but its not a ROG laptop. I love to game, so i want something to handle what i throw at it. Is Windows 7 really necessary, cuz the G71 rx05 comes pre-installed with Windows Vista (which could explain the price drop). Any suggestions for me?

  • could you give me the model number of the laptop with the 5470

  • ya, the model # is A52JR-X1. I found it on Newegg

  • hey dude do u use your hdmi port for audio or dont u know if that is not possible with this pc, thanks.

  • i am almost certian that you can use the HDMI for audio out. i say that because in the winows sound settings one of the options is HDMI, i havnt tried that yet but go ahead and try and tell me what results you got.

  • question, i just got this laptop...i love it but how do auto load the gpu over clock profile??? I have to manually enter it in everytime. Also is the proc standard size as a desktop dualcore??? can i swap it out for another chip or a quad?? heat issues?? what are some options???

  • Now i made proggress! i got all fuctions (working) the direct console works (Y) the lock mouse pad works (Y) and the clock buttn works, but lags a little (N) and the "screen mode" directbuttn (works) that means, it does respond and display a message of what style the screen view is set to be. but i cant see any difference on gamma, color, etc. i used the utility cd for vista that followed by crypting it with the win7 function allowing you to run programs designed for older versions of windows.

  • the button all the way to the left, the "light mode" button wont work using the "direct console 2,0" utility for all, xp, vista and 7. and this makes me unable to use them fine lights on the side and front. :/ and theres problems with the "screen mode" button, overclocking buttn i idid make it work (kinda), and the "lock mousepad" buttn wont still work at all.. what a bommer :/ i love this machine!, (i mounted a velos raptor hard drive as master and run OS and programfiles on this)

  • hey dude;) okay. i got my gx rx05 with win vis.. ofc i slayed it and installed 7 right away but, i got a problem i cant fix with asus site.. but thats me... maybe u can help? :) so, after installing 7 my console buttons wont work. :/ that meens i cant: use the light direct console, change screen mode, overclock with console buttn and lock the mousepad.. :( ANY RESPONSE IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

  • i will respond back to you again when i find a fix.

  • you might want to do a clean install of windows 7 agiain, there is no reason those sensor buttons shouldnt work.

  • okay dude thx. i will probably receive mine in the mail next week i hope! :D

  • yea it does have a direct console button, but that only overclockes it 3%. as for the keyboard just stick a dollar bill on a normal desktop keyboard and that is darn neer the exact size. and with the playing the song thing if you are refering to haw good the speakers are, well that is the only downside to this laptop is that the speakers suck.

  • AWSOM vid dud, but i have a few more questions.. dont the g71gx-rx05 have a

built in oc system with direct buttons on the panel that comes with all rep.of.gamers asus notebooks? and could you play a song and record it..? and show the keyboard up close and put something like a cd cover or a dollarbill on top to compare;) THX DUD!
