What a wonderful, wonderful song. His 2006 concert at the Royal Albert Hall was on TV last week. No backing choir, no orchestra or band, just Sedaka and a piano. Amazing concert. Love him.
I wasn't giving directives to anyone, just telling you what I do, how I do it, and why I think it's the right thing to do! On the other hand, YOU are a dictator in disguise, ordering the others under the cover and disguise of political correctness, which is the current trent nowadays of imposing your will to others. Besides, what do I care if there are still people who prefer to live and die stupid and ignorant?
@ENACODNOM No i'm not a dictator in disguise, if I was I would have personally insulted you like so many do on YT, which I could have easily done, but that is not my style. I even said in my last post "You want to study and get correct dates, fine". You, on the other end, never acknowledged it was ok not to bother until your last post while I was simply speaking for others (like myself) not trying to make out I was supeior because I 'only use correct recording dates' and am 'more logical'.
@FabFM What was it, Heineken too? But being British, maybe you prefer Guinness or another brand of brown or reddish beers? Personnally, I like changing: I very rarely drink the same brand two days in a row!
@FabFM You're right: in those days Sedaka worked a lot in England with Elton John and his label Rocket Records and almost all the songs he recorded then were first released in the UK. But after all those years, what really counts most is the recording date, and this is so difficult to find sometimes!
@ENACODNOM Well this was posted by an American user, so to them this would have been first out in 1974, just like they would consider I want to hold your hand by the beatles a 1964 release, while to us brits it was a 1963 record!
@ENACODNOM You can't expert someone who bought an album in 1974 the first time it was release in their country, to consider the track an earlier release! It's connected with their own personal memory. This is not a music school, it's YT, a website for people to enjoy themselves, not follow text books and rules!
@FabFM The two are possible: you can enjoy yourself, but intelligently and acquiring extra knowledge. And suppose that, instead of uploading songs, you want to collect them, singer by singer, the way I do since sometime now, how would you like to classify them? Isn't the recording order the most logical and appropriate to understand and enjoy the singer's output. It's by enjoying myself that I even learned English, thanks to American and British movies and music.
@ENACODNOM again, there is no "rules" to follow on YT and no dictation to follow. You want to study and get correct dates, fine, but don't expect everyone to follow suit or HAVE to. Not everyone has to do what you want or say! And no, the most logical way to enjoy something is to enjoy it, in the way you want to, not the way someone else tells you to enjoy it!
@ENACODNOM I've got no reason to block you. Even if you still seem to think you are supeior (your last post was fine until you commented people who don't agree with you are "stupid and ignorant" ... that is ignorance!).
If I didn't want to talk to you, I wouldn't, I'm not one of these idiots that starts posting comments about how I don't want to talk to people. If I don't want the conversation, I don't partake in it and I'm sure you're the same!
@FabFM But it's true! The world is full of people living very ignorantly, caring about things in a very superficial manner, interested only about their money (or the lack of it) and their meals. They pretend to be interested in things, but they are not really. Personnally, I never stop asking questions, especially about the subjects that I dig the most.
Even with the schmaltzy songs like Oh Carol and Sweet Sixteen this main is an absolute genius. Songs like Superbird, The Immigrant, this song here. Wheeling West Virginia, Star Crossed Lovers, Bad Blood, Standing On The Inside,Our Last Song Together, Solitaire, The Hunngry Years, songs that most us pver 40 had forgotten, stamped him as a man who wrote songs that meant something. There was a little bit of all of us in them.
It is absolutely criminal that this genius of a musician is not in the Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame! He is a treasure! Thank you Neil, for a lifetime of classic music!
My very favourite song. If you think I am Italian and I was born in 1981, it could sound quite weird but it is true. I keep it in my MP3 player and it inspired me some of my fanfictions...
One of my all time favourite songs. First time I heard the song was a cover by Donny Osmond.
norizaliah 2 weeks ago
@norizaliah Ironically it wasn't a cover. Donny recorded it first. Neil Sedaka ended up doing the cover of his own song.

@FabFM Yes, and you see, this is why its the recording date that really counts, especially after years go by.
