Fuck me it's like a dick measuring contest in here.
It's all down to personal taste, imo eddie and chris are the better singers and allround frontmen, PJ are the better band, Soundgarden and AIC are both 2nd for me and nirvana and kurt were very much average and i wpuld not have them in a top 50 nevermind a top 4 or 5.
But that is just my opinion some people will agree and some disagree personally i could not give a shit what other people think.
I love both Nirvana and Pearl Jam, and I think they're two totally different bands as far as Grunge goes. It's like comparing Leonardo Da Vinci with Salvador Dali, one may be more iconic but they're both masters in painting!
I AM SO TIRED OF IDIOTS COMPARING EDDIE WITH KURT EITHER YOU ARE NIRVANA OR PEARL JAM FAN PEARL JAM WAS MORE FAMOUS BECAUSE OF EDDIE'S VOICE FACE IT TO ME PJ IS A BETTER BAND BUT IS ONLY MY OPINION AND I RESPECT NIRVANA FANS WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT TASTE .
@AKOATZIN You're tired of idiots comparing them... and then you do it. Pearl Jam wasn't more famous than Nirvana... are you kidding me? I love Pearl Jam... but Nirvana was considered groundbreaking. Pearl Jam is not more famous; they just have a larger body of work... for obvious reasons.
Finally a sane voice in the wilderness. Some people on here actually think PJ was a more groundbreaking and iconic than Nirvana. What a joke? Nirvana brought grunge to the masses via MTV with Smells Like Teen Spirit. Thanks to Nirvana, bands like PJ, AIC and SG followed.
@Monchi2006 No. Just... no. Don't get me wrong, Pearl Jam is my favorite band of all time. Love grunge, and when it comes down to it, I prefer Pearl Jam over Nirvana, and just paid near $150 to see them a couple months ago. To put it simply: Pearl Jam is the best.
HOWEVER, Nirvana is iconic in a way that NO other band will be. Nirvana changed the music scene, and they basically invented grunge. They were iconic back then, and they're iconic now; wouldn't matter if Cobain was alive or not.
@JackChaos I agree with you. Nirvana is iconic. But they only "invented the wheel" because a young man named Andrew Wood died before Mother Love Bone had a chance to shine. Not saying they would have been as iconic or mainstream as Nirvana but MLB were the true trailblazers and ground breakers for what we call "grunge".
I wonder when are people going to shut the fuck up about "gods", "legends", etc and other bullshit lines like that. I mean, there has to be a day when they can open their eyes and realize that these are just some dudes making music, that's it. Perhaps GREAT music, which is perfect for us listeners, nevertheless, they are just that. Humans, average people like you, me, and that one homeless guy at the bus stop. Man, specially listening to this tune... can't you hear it?
eddie is a great singer!!!his voice is like a separate instument in every track!TEN is one of the best albums ever made in my opinion but.....COBAIN wasnt just a musician or singer! He was an icon!!!he influenced the whole world with his opinion even with his clothes...
Well did it ever occur to you that he didn't like being an "icon"? He sure as shit didn't like it. He loved making music. He loved it. Everyone took everything out of proportion. Then those same cockshits wonder why he killed himself.
@DoctorHannibal Layne was most probably an atheist, I don't think he's particularly into deification of anything, including himself. The same applies for Eddie @ onelastgoobye23
I guess it's a matter of opnion, I don't want to get into a fight with you but I like way more Dave than Matt, I play drums, and Matt Cameron is awesome!!! But Dave made it look so easy, when it sure wasn't! I just like Pearl Jam to much I'm a big fan, but again, in my opinion they are diferent kind of drumers, maybe just as good, but I don't think Dave was a noisy one!!!
I understand you, and I like your opinion. Dave was great but, when you noticed that Matt recorded the first PJ demos then you´re sure that Matt rythms made Pearl Jam's style... Matt it's the Though made drumming, he think with the drum.
I don think you cant be that sure of that... altought Pearl Jam is good, Nirvana is from outer space... We all know Pearl Jam's music is a not as grungy as nirvana, but they are one of my favourites bands, I Hope they come back to Argentina soon...
i think pearl jam were getting more attention than nirvana during this time, but since no band member is dead then they dont make as much tributes and bullshit as they do to poor dead kurt.If Eddie were dead and Kurt were alive, then Eddie would be the "Legendary" one
history... I mean, you really want Pearl Jam in the shoes of Nirvana? if that happened you were writing the same thing, but backwards... you are not satisfied, the tale that never ends.
I learn to like both, don't care if all world is with me or not... well I'm just sharing my opinion dude, I'm still glad you like pearl jam
no u get me wrong,i dont want anyone trading shoes, what i meant was, that nirvana are considered legendary today because theyr not around anymore so all people can say is how good kurt cobain was,im pretty sure if Eddie had died instead of Kurt, then you'd be seeing all the Eddie Vedder t shirts in hot topic, and he'd be so legendary cause he's dead and not to many people would be considering Cobain "spokesman of a generation" or "god".I also think in 1992-1994 PJ was more popular than nirvana
How people could NOT like this song! This is one of my favorites, I listen to it everyday...
MiguelArosemena 3 months ago
This is definitely one of Pearl Jams most underrated songs...I listen to it every day...remember the album "Ten" came out in 1991 :D

@MsLeon619 how the hell is kurt a legend and not layne?? He was the best singer out of them all..including cornell.
MrTufflong 8 months ago
@MsLeon619 actually, layne is probable the best of them 3, PJ is my favorite band but it goes onto epic legend godnessness
1. Layne
2. Eddie
3. Kurt
They are all awesome, though.
