Well done. Those Yellow CNW Hopper Cars in Newark serve the Budweiser plant there. They are in captive service from Idaho Falls Idaho, where Budweiser has a barley plant and go east as loads, empty west on a UP/NS route. Love the back to back Acela's!
Great job on this video, plenty of historical data plus new world data, as well as a great tour of the NEC, next time I need to notice the Northbound section more as I was noticing the speed more than the views. 5 Stars!
Ahhhh, I can run away from it but I can't hide. The NEC followed me from home to college...and got a HELL of a lot faster along the way. Its my baby and I'll never let it go. I'll always be out trackside on the Corridor...no matter how many police station-side visits I get!
Well if you're going to do it, come out to where I'm at by Boston. Once you south of the city its the fastest portion of the Corridor, Acela's move 150+, I shot some 2 weeks ago.
Very awsome and rare to see 2 Acela express trains at the same time. I Have a siggestion for your videos, why don't you try the Strasburg R.R. In Strasburg Pennsylvannia.
Great video yet again! In spite of what others think about your interest in capturing video on the NEC. I love it b/c the NEC is a good place to watching barrelling down continously welded rail at high speed. I have a thing for electric traction, especially, at high speed. That said, producers of Trainiac Productions, I look forward to your new season of Fall Foliage on the NEC. Thanx a lot!!! :)
I would just like to point out that @ 5:46 that that is NOT new Giants Stadium. That is the stadium uncer construction for the Red Bulls Soccer Team. New Giants Stadium is not visible from the NEC. Othen than one minor niggle, it's a great vid!
Great video. I can't wait to see your freight and tourist videos, although if that's all you're railfanning you should probably explore some other lines like the RVL or Morristown, otherwise you'll be catching the same stuff every week.
I love the Pulaski Skyway! It also aint infamous! Its a terrific infrastructure! (though it needs some major repairs, it still a magnificant structure over water!)
When you get horn at stations that both have express tracks and high level platforms thats pretty good. But try going to stations with low level platforms and no express tracks, its a whole new experience. There are plenty of them Northeast of New Haven in CT, RT, and MA.
if you plan on staying in jersey, the black river and western railroad in flemington nj is a nice railroad. Also Allaire state park in southern jersey has a nice narrow gauge train. the track is only in a circle and a mile long. i have a video if you want to check it out. Too bad you are leaving though. Send me an email if yo ever decide to railfan NJt RVL and Lehigh line in bound brook NJ. I could meet you there. You get alot of freight if that is what you are looking for.
It really does, to me at least. To me, the NEC, at least in New Jersey, is far too predictable. Tons of multilevels, the occasional deadhead to or from the ACL, a ton of Arrows, some Amtrak Keystones and Regionals, and the occasional Acela. Even the Acela isn't that spectacular in New Jersey. I'd much rather see it up in Rhode Island, at 150MPH.
In New Jersey, you see every route that goes through the Amtrak Northeast Corridor system. I agree with everything you wrote up until the Amtrak part (even then I think that NJ provides the most variety of trains outside of Amtrak e.g. Comets, Arrows, Bi-Levels, diesels), but go at any time of day and you'll be surprised.
I'm not saying its the best on the planet, but its fun to see trains that go fast that elsewhere would be restricted to 60 or 70 mph max.
Its sometimes better than seeing some of the videos outside of it. Yes, some parts of the NEC are just downright awful, but some parts are just so thrilling that when I see a video there regardless of the train I can't help but watch.
One complaint I really have about the NEC is that there are far too many railfanning videos of it. I wouldn't mind so much, but there is one problem I have: all the NEC videos I find are either in New Jersey, New York, or New England. I simply cannot find any video of what the NEC is like south of Philidelphia. I would really love to see the NEC in states like Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C.
You should most definatly visit the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge railroad in Durango Colorado it is incredible. Also if in Colorado I would check out the San Louis Rio Grande in Alomosa and La Veta Colorado the Royal Goerge Train isnt all that great but its in Canyan City Colorado
Oh, okay. BTW, there is one F40PH-2CAT that I utterly LOATHE. I don't know its number, but it is much louder than any other F40 NJT or Metro-North owns. That thing, which my dad and I call the "Abomination", was so damn loud that it gave both of us migraines and left us sick for a few days afterwards. Would you have any clue which F40 I'm talking about?
sorry but the new stadium in harrison is actually the new red bulls mls stadium

Was this taken on a weekday because the single level comets never operate on NJT's NEC on weekends anymore, it's just Arrow's and Multi Levels.

Does so! Your part is awesome. P32ACDM's and some neat coaches in NH scheme. But down here it's JUNK!

True, but there is less variety. In terms of Amtrak, only NE Regionals and Acelas.

Some aspects of the NEC are good and some are bad, but all in all I think it gets the credit that it deserves. It is not overrated in my opinion.

You obviously haven't seen any of my videos. I have video from South Philly, Lancaster, Havre de Grace, and Baltimore posted.
battalion51 2 years ago
Maryland is a lot like New Jersey. Minus the Keystones and Pennsylvanians.
Virginia is ALL DIESEL. Still fun nonetheless. They are finally making another Northeast Regional, I think its going to be trains 60 and 61?
D.C. is good. You get almost everything, just go to the rooftops for a little bit and you just soak in all the action.
sportsmovieman 2 years ago
Not a new Regional. It's only supposed to be running between Washington and Richmond.
