    Customer Reviews:

This laptop was bought to meet a time-sensitive need in the workplace. Buying it through Amazon proved to give more computer for the money and much faster delivery than was available from other sources. It's not the most high-powered laptop, but for a basic machine, it was a very good value and arrived exactly as specified. Very ...

  • youll love it it always smells like :)

  • toshiba Nb series lot better...:)

  • "Its not very big"- Thats what she said! JK

  • I would follow your advice about getting a normal laptop but I'm only 14 so I don't have too much money and the desktop I'm using right now is really old and is actually worse than the mini.

  • fuck dell, this computer cant run shit, it only causes problems.

  • how do i get xp on mine because i cant download anything cant use flaash can you please help me

  • Can we play on this

  • Omg this is the best mini netbook yet! I previously had an hp mini 1000 but it cra.shed (it was a lemon and hp would NOT give me a refund) Now i have this dell mini 9 and it is about a million x better

  • whats the battery life like on it?

  • its 8 gb

  • I was wondering if i bought one of these would i have enough gb to dowload a game or to

  • why dont you fucking google it and see how many fuckin gigs it has like a normal person?

  • thnx 4 the review cause i was thinking a bout buying 1 now i definitly am!!! ty vm

  • Good looking net book. but what I don't understand is why the power cord isn' three prong.

  • @zeldajunkielol2 USA powercord

  • I have had this mini 9 for almost a half a year now, it is an amazing machine, its fast, small, quiet, i actually use it mostly for messenger, but soon im going to put some game emulators on it, but it is an amazing machine for its size. solid state really makes a difference, it rather sad that this thing is faster than my pc, also, im running windows 7 on it, (my dad has been beta testing it) and so far, my mini has not frozen once. Great machine!

  • Doesn't 7 require 16 gb + to install? The mini 9 only gets 16 gb SSD.

  • nah, i have a 32 gig solid state, and i have over half my space remaining, not quite sure how much, and im too lazy to go get my laptop right now, but it's not 16 gig no, that was the old beta versions, i have the final RTM version, and it's fine.

  • Ah, cool! I was thinking of getting a mini 9, but the max SSD size was 16gb, so I went with the mini 10v.

  • ya i got the mini 10v for christmas yesterday and i love it it is awesome!

  • This mini 9 is a jem now....its actually a step up from their crappy new mini 10 because mini 9 allows 2 gig ram upgrade while mini 10 doesnt. you can increase space by hadding a SDHC. This is a great little mahcine for office, web, photoshop, movies, and even DJ softwares if u upgrade to its full potential.

  • yes, but u hav 2 get an external hard drive I suggest 320gb to 500gb

  • For work? Jeez, how many Word documents do You write? You don't use it for _entertainment_, do You?! ;)

  • I don't think anyone uses a netbook for gaming or movies or music it's just a bad joke.

  • can you buy it with a cd thing

  • yea it's an option online

  • im really interested in purchasing this laptop but i was just wondering if you could play any sims game 1-3? please answer!!!

  • the sims 1 i dnt kno about the sims 2 tho but there is a app called gma that unlocks the dell mini graphics card has they underclock it to save battery

  • nice nails

  • can i put Microsoft word on this thing?

  • yeah, but u need an external disc drive

  • It needs one eSATA port to make it worth while. I assume the SSD is SATA so I guess if I bought one of these I'd remove the SSD and mod in an eSATA port.

  • I take that back I found a review with the FRU panel removed hmmm mini PCIe.....

  • Would a program like Sony Vegas work on this? or iTunes?

  • iTunes would be ok but any video editing app will work very slow on this.

  • dose it come in with wifi built in?

  • yeah, but there is no option for wireless n

  • no internal CD drive

  • does it come with vista?

  • not yet vista is a bit big for this computer so far

  • good cause my friend is getting this computer

and i dont want him to get vista because i have xp

    he'll be all braggy/slutty

  • gd he didnt critisize it like the other bastard

  • 4:55 <lol

  • is anything user-upgradable??

  • Easy stuff, Memory, SSD, you can add 3G by soldering it on, or replacing the WiFi with it. Those are the 3 easy ones.

  • great. thanks for the help, but I just bought an acer aspire one! Thanks.

  • im thinking of buying the dell mini 10 but there are no good vids of it on youtube

  • it is very similar to mini 9

  • are there limitations ie: watching videos online, downloading files, saving lots of documents (word, excel, ppt, etc)??

  • can this laptop support programs like sony vegas video editor, windows vista or adobe afteraffects?

  • i got this for 200 bucks at best buy. I use this even more than my mac book pro :)

  • FYI, When checking bootup tests with all Atom machines. When on Battery power the Processor will cut down the speed. When On AC power it will run full speed at 1.6mhz. Alot of videos on tube that check bootup times with battery power on one machine vs AC power on another machine. AC power is Full Processor.. Just a note for the Shoppers out there. Any questions on netbooks email me.

Acer one, Hp mini, Asus eee owner.

  • i am lookin for a laptop under $500 what should i get

  • get the dell mini 12

  • I checked out the Mini 9 at my local Best Buy, the freakin keyboard is too small. I guess I'm just spoiled with my ThinkPad's keyboard. Ye folks should check out the new Dell Mini 10, the touch pad is like the new MacBooks, it's clickable!!

  • wow the loading part seems slow

is it me or this video kept lagging

  • The HDD vs SSD debate is silly. HDD have been around far longer than SSD. The price for SSD is still very high and the "advantages" of SSD are not worth the extra price. SSD don't really offer better battery life, they are not that much more reliable than HDD, and not cost effective.

  • SSD is much more durable, if you drop it HDD can easily get scratched and ruined if they are reading/writing (iPod mini). The battery life is actually better, you don't have the motor to spin which takes a lot of power. Writing to SSD is the power hog, reading takes very little power. SSD is also silent and fast.

For the amount of space you get for the price is terrible compared to HDD. That is the only advantage I can think of for HDD.

  • I like this

    hp mininote suck

    :)

  • how much is it?

  • at the website its 249 bucks.

  • damn thats a good price

  • i like this one, but i perfer the Hp Mini Netbook 1000. this one has only an 8.2 or 8.7 inch screen. the HP has a choice of either. and the HP is a widescreen. but i like both. they both have XP which i really like. and im getting the HP MINI for x-mas. can't wait!

  • It's called the Mini 9 because it has an 8.9 inch screen (almost 9)

    :)

  • There's nothing really "wrong" with it, but there's so much more you can get from almost anywhere else. Aside from that However there is on huge flaw. The keyboard, which is the worst fucking keyboard of all time. I really am sorry for anyone who plans on getting one since they have to put up with this keyboard when they could've gotten almost any other netbook and been much better off.

  • how much more is it to get the built-in camara?

  • i'm getting this for xmas

  • So I just got my mini9. It has bluetooth and I would like to use my 50 inch lcd tv in my livingroom as a monitor as I sit on my couch surfing the web. Can I do this wirelessly without a patchcord??? If so, what do I need to do???

  • It's not worth it - wireless external video is EXTREMELY annoying and tedious, and inconsistent and laggy at best.

    Get a video cable.

  • At least he is very informative- he gets to the point, explains the laptop inside out with a lot of detail..this helps a lot for people who want to get this laptop since there is no real retailer for dell computers...

  • the small HD is the dealbreaker for me. i wouldve liked to see a 64gb SSD in there, 32gb at least, i would be there in a heartbeat. i think ill be going for the lenovo s10, but there are so many net books outthere

  • im going to buy it but bwone i cant u buy a battery that last longer because mini 9 last for 4 hours and its a good think its a xp because vista sucks and lot videos saying it sucks

  • jus bought one for my gf, gotta upgrade the RAM

  • my mom just got hers on thursday and its so cute! lol and it works great too.

  • It has the same processor as most Netbooks, and the same amount of ram. Its almost identical to the other Netbooks Hardware wise.

  • I'm gettin an xps 1530 for xmas :)

  • Im getting a Dell Mini 9 this Christmas!!! Im so excited!!!!!!

  • Same here, im very excited as well!!

  • ur best bet is ac ACER ASPIRE ONE 9" screen /6 cell battery (5hours)/1 gigram/160gig hardrive for $399

    or

Samsung nc10 10" screen /6 cell battery (5hours)/1 gigram (2 gig upgradable EZ access slot) /160gig hardrive for $499

these r the best ones out there for ur money...

dont buy a DELL because of its name..!!!

  • I'm still undecided whether to get this Mini 9 or the Aspire One .. Aspire One's huge HD is not Solid State so it sort of counters the idea of being portable (lightweight, efficient, and reliable) the 6cell battery sounds really nice though I think the Mini 9 is just as upgradeable .. I do agree that the Mini 9's keyboard layout is a bit of a turnoff though. It would feel just like re-learning how to type again on this netbook ....

  • I need a computer that can go on the Internet and run iTunes at the same time. Is this computer good for those two reasons? I really don't need a extravagant computer that has the newest features. I need one for little stuff like that. I don't use programs that use alot of space that much anyway.

  • yeah probably, but bear in mind that the HD is SSD, so they come in 8GB, 16GB, 32GB etc. Make sure that that is enough for your music. I just ordered one of these, but i have a Core Duo 14.1" Inspiron with 1GB RAM, and it runs Itunes fine. With Itunes, RAM is really your main concern, not necessarily processing speed. these machines normally come with 1GB RAM. If you buy it, you can always swap in a 2GB RAM chip easily for about US$25-30.

  • how do u get zp on it if it only has 1gb

  • XP can run on the minimum of 256MB of Ram. The drive is a 16GB SSD drive.

  • oh thanks im thinking about getting it do you recomend it it is my first laptop but not my first computer what do u think i should do

  • I thought it was 128MB, not 256MB...

  • great review

  • BEST REVIEW IVE SEEN YET!!

you really went in deep to tell me the features and you showed me the sides and front view.

    i really enjoyed it :)

  • hey nice review...much better than my review on the mini 910..hey would you know how to get (if possible) 2GB of RAM on the mini?=/

im sure you can but it doesnt pick up on the system=(

  • I'm assuming through some BIOS update but I haven't seen it done myself. I have heard its been able to be done but I'm not sure on the process. Wish I could help more.

  • Thanks this helped me alot.

    This rocks my socks off!
