What a fantastic book, my favourite from my distant school days. This is a rather good and faithful adaptation. The greed, jealousy and all human emotions are here in true Dickens style. Jilted Miss Haversham and her world of rotting cake, dusty furniture and faded memories. Joe who becomes the embarrasing relative, Estella who remains untouchable. Pip who lives in a world where he doesn't belong. The final betrayal of the source of the inheritance. Wonderful, I really have enjoyed this.
Thank you for uploading a copy with such a fine, sharp quality. But, good heavens, who did the translation for the subs? Google? It is ghastly! I sincerely hope no-one tries to learn Swedish by reading them.
@gogogirl252010 In the book he finds an escaped convict who tells him that unless he brings him some supplies he'll come and eat him or something like that.
i personally like this one rather than the 1998 ver.
SPOILER ALERT!!!! (if you haven't watched the 1998 modern version of this) the modern version has a lot of false language and adult scenes that doesnt go with the whole context of the book... it's a bit off of the story too.
yes, the sister never appreciated pip or joe, she never was a good sibling, not to mention a mother figure, to pip. but when she got attacked and injured and later died did you feel sorry for her? i know i did, a little
this SAVED me for English class. we have to read Great Expectations and some of the old language is a lil bit difficult to understand. thanks for posting this!

I've always loved Dickens but so many of his characters make me want to beat them with a stick. I guess they were supposed to.

The tragic beauty of Dickens is that even his most exaggerated hypocrites are still with us. Hopefully, some of his best people are as well.
