  • Are Pip and his sister and brother-in-law speaking South-West English accents (cos it's rhotic)...

  • It be nice to have subtitles. I can hardly understand the dialogs.

  • The scene with the tar is great. :P

  • aww pip is soo cute

  • this beats reading the book by a mile :P

  • Magwitch needs to learn some manners whilst he eats...

  • I dont get wat the men says..

  • this is good... as if im reading the book again.. i love the book.. ;)

  • most of this is about charles dickens childhood. His mother died when he was a child and he was raised by his wicked sister .

  • damn fatasses I swearrr. lol shhhit

  • where's compeyson?

  • thanks for uploading

  • Throw her out on her ear!

Love Dickens, I've read everyone except pickwick papers

  • What a fantastic book, my favourite from my distant school days. This is a rather good and faithful adaptation. The greed, jealousy and all human emotions are here in true Dickens style. Jilted Miss Haversham and her world of rotting cake, dusty furniture and faded memories. Joe who becomes the embarrasing relative, Estella who remains untouchable. Pip who lives in a world where he doesn't belong. The final betrayal of the source of the inheritance. Wonderful, I really have enjoyed this.

  • I've always loved Dickens but so many of his characters make me want to beat them with a stick. I guess they were supposed to.

  • wheres ethan hawke

  • Thank you for uploading a copy with such a fine, sharp quality. But, good heavens, who did the translation for the subs? Google? It is ghastly! I sincerely hope no-one tries to learn Swedish by reading them.

  • God, I always hated his hag sister.

  • I hate seeing hungry people eating in dramas, they always do it ridiculously. :S

  • so gross to watch/hear him eat.... YUCK!

  • I don't get this will some one explain it to me I haven't read the bookmi dint know their was one

  • @gogogirl252010 In the book he finds an escaped convict who tells him that unless he brings him some supplies he'll come and eat him or something like that.

  • @SomebodyLS the convict says tht he wll take out his livers!

  • The tragic beauty of Dickens is that even his most exaggerated hypocrites are still with us. Hopefully, some of his best people are as well.

  • @yamsid best comment on this video

  • Watching people eat is disgusting!

  • Umnomononononnnonon!! this really helps i dont have to raed the entire book :D

  • @903harman more like AMOMOMOMOMOMOM :P

  • i personally like this one rather than the 1998 ver.

SPOILER ALERT!!!! (if you haven't watched the 1998 modern version of this) the modern version has a lot of false language and adult scenes that doesnt go with the whole context of the book... it's a bit off of the story too.

  • yes, the sister never appreciated pip or joe, she never was a good sibling, not to mention a mother figure, to pip. but when she got attacked and injured and later died did you feel sorry for her? i know i did, a little

  • @watchieshuttie Ya When I read this in english class and when the sister got beat up I felt more sorry for her then when miss havisham caught on fire

  • what version is this?

  • this SAVED me for English class. we have to read Great Expectations and some of the old language is a lil bit difficult to understand. thanks for posting this!

  • @Anniebananie1230 I know what you mean! My entire class is on chapter 52 and I'm still back on 20!

  • @MCRomg hahaa thank goodness im not the only one... my class finished the book and im on chapter 30!!

  • Thanks so much!
