The Copley conical-bore flute in delrin is well thought of by the flute-playing community. If cost is not a primary concern, the Copley flute would play and sound more like a traditional Irish flute. My pvc flute, at a fraction of the cost of the Copley, also performs quite well in the hands of a good player such as Jem.

In "bang-for-bucks" terms you can't go wrong with Doug's flutes: recent embouchure hole developments should make them even better. That said, they are what they are and have limitations which will drive an improving player towards more expensive instruments in due course. If you are just trying out on flute, go with one of Doug's as an inexpensive intro/experiment - it will serve you well as a beginner but won't make a significant hole in your budget for any subsequent upgrade!
