  • the vettes use less fuel than any other car in GT1 or 2. no one else gets as much torque either. that's why they use the push-rod V8

  • man chevy need to produce a street verison corvette C6r car to look and sound like that

  • I came...

  • That engine may be ridiculously old-fashioned (two valves per cylinder, overhead valves, single central camshaft, no variable valve timing), but goddamn it sounds good. Mind you, Mercedes-Benz's 6.2 litre lump (as seen in the SLS AMG and all their x63 AMG cars) offers similar thunder and performance plus much better fuel economy...

  • @EccentricRichard the fuel economy part is incorrect actually...

  • @EccentricRichard thats right!chevy is using a pushrod engine to smoke all those (evenly priced, and some that are double the price) euro cars.the quality may be down ,but the performance is amazing.sexy car.

  • @308scoutrfl - rubbish. The LS engine is a dinosaur. For its size, its power output is pitiful, it's not that reliable, it's extremely thirsty (remember, petrol here in the UK is about £1.20 a litre, which = $6.83/US gallon), and it's very unrefined (cruising ability is important too). Also, there's a reason why the Vette is cheap - it's got a leaf spring at the back, it's made of plastic and the interior is terrible. Come to the UK and drive a Jaguar XK, then tell me the Vette is good.

  • @EccentricRichard The Corvette gets better fuel economy than your euro cars, and fiberglass is not all plastic and is stronger, lighter, cheaper and more flexible than most metels.

  • @kingrex1002 - let's just see! The latest V8s from BMW and Mercedes-Benz are looking incredibly good in terms of economy-to-HP ratios, they've also got vast amounts of torque (thanks to twin turbos) and they are more efficient. Yeah, fibreglass is cheap and light, but it looks and feels cheap. Once again, I would urge you to look at the Vette in comparison with Jaguar's more sophisticated all-aluminium XK (which is also light). Plus, as I said, the Vette's interior is rubbish.

  • @EccentricRichard The supercharger puts out more than twin turbo's. The Jaguar is nowehere close to light, and the interior doesnt make the car.

  • @EccentricRichard ohc and ohv were invented only a few years apart from each other early last century.

Gm chose to develop pushrod engines with good cylinder heads, they work.

  • @EccentricRichard It won overall GT1 in 2009 24 hours of Le Mans I think that says enough about its fuel efficiency :) The reason why GM sticks with push rod engines for racing is because there's loads of money and research that goes into their NASCAR program but they have little money in comparison for their Le Mans program. Also the production Vettes get terrible fuel economy because a large displacement long piston stroke engine has such a large torque curve that it guzzles fuel at low RPMs

  • @327yellow Production vettes get excellent fuel economy. My C5 Z with headers and full exhaust gets 32 at 70 mph on the freeway.

  • @327yellow Production vettes get excellent fuel economy. My C5 Z with headers and full exhaust gets 32 at 70 mph on the freeway. My z06 does better on gas than my brand new 3 series bimmer.

  • awesome this and the aston martin dbr9 are my facourite in the gt class. the aston is like the gentleman racer and the corvette is just pure muscle. both look and sound amazing

  • I want one of these for my birthday.

  • wow what a monster. Would love to drive one.

  • Nice sound! That's real muscle right there!

  • @whattheheack
