  • I like how classy he played. After he did a sick move like that or dunked on you he just jogs back to the other end with out dancing, screaming, waving his arms, beating his chest. He's like yea... You know I own you, I'll remind you next quarter. Make your mouth a cup for the tea bag

  • I just came !

  • @omega000studios How is that a joke? Michael jordan said that he looked to dr J when he was playing basketball. u must not know alot about basketball

  • Denzel Washington looks like Dr.J he should play him in a movie!

  • Father of Iverson? Thats a joke. More like father of Michael

  • does anyone know the music to this commericial?

  • Hot rod Hundley commentating makes it even better :)

  • What's amazing is that he picked up the ball with one hand before jumping. Big mitts.

  • @uberathlete holy shit

  • I've never seen this play from this angle. Wow Dr was poetry in motion. All other that have come behind him including Jordan are imitators...this brotha was the ORIGINATOR.

  • ive seen this play hundreds of times and still love the way he moves with ease and just gets it up and in

  • Lot's of amazing plays/moves . Never seen one better than this.

  • Can't believe he could go from point A to point B, can't believe he thought he could go from point A to point B and I can't believe how easily he does it. Not sure how a "lay up" could be the sweetest move I've ever seen in an NBA game but here it is.

  • Why the NBA don't make commercials like this anymore??? those ruled.

  • I love reverse layups!!!!

  • How can I do this like that ??

  • I can't understand how someone dislikes it..... stupid!

  • AMAZIN did u see the hang time father of the rock the cradle which lebron will never master

  • Father of Jordan who is now the Father of Kobe

  • wow i couldn't tell why this move is so great from this video, until i saw that he actually made the layup with most of his body already behind the backboard in another video with a different perspective. Pretty sick

  • @sairoku

wow, it took you this long? Man, I saw it when it happened and it was great then. did you notice him having to duck to avoid the backboard? He jumps, realizes that A) They're gonna block it: B) I'm too far under the goal, So, he contorts and twists his body and comes out on the other side. Crazy.

  • Best Lay up of all time

  • damn his hands are big!

palming it off a dribble with 1 hand?!?!

  • who are the 16 people that disliked this vid???

  • Dr. J ... What a player.. what a move...

  • "Here I was, trying to win a championship, and my mouth just dropped open. He actually did that! I thought, 'What should we do? Should we take the ball out, or should we give him the ball back and ask him to do it again?' It's still the greatest move I've ever seen in a basketball game, the all-time greatest." Magic Johnson on the Baseline Move.

  • Greatest basketball move of all time. Classic!

  • him and pistol pete were the best but that move is so amazing

  • this move kills !

  • MJ, Bird and Magic were better players than Dr J, but this move is the most amazing move EVER done in basketball. All the grace and glory of the game is included in this move.

  • I totally agree man.

  • ok their not DUPLICATING or anything, DR.J was the best in his era. MJ in his era, KOBE in his era, and now LEBRON soon after kobe retires and after LEBRON retires there will be a new person

  • I wouldnt go that far as to saying it was his era, it was Magics and Kareems era then.

  • i am big fan of Kobe, but why you talking about him on this video, is not fair for this today old people, once very true great players, legends of NBA! You do not like basketball, you like celebrities.

  • So as Kobe was also the duplicator of MJ

  • @hermiemac kobe didnt like mj, he didnt studie him like he studied magic

  • I tell EVERYBODY the DR....was the ORIGINATOR...Mike J was the DUPLICATOR....

  • Fifty years ago, wing players were usually spot up shooters and were never the focal point of teams like 1's and 5's were. Jerry West and Elgin Baylor created the molds for dominant wing players. Baylor was the first player to dunk over people or use hangtime to get off a layup or make an assist. Jerry West was the first player to create his own shot and make it wit ha quick release J. Those two players made wing players important and great wing players take element from both their games.

  • the things thats amazing about this is that he was behind the backboard

  • Magic johnson used to say that this was the best play he ever witnessed as a player

  • yeah it is also quoted in nba2k10 xD

  • absolutely amazing...

  • dang, he got the cheat codes!

  • This video was made for me, but they couldn't get me to act it out, so they settled for Dr J.

  • dude that gave me chills

  • jordan's role model right here.. but jordan surpassed him =]

  • father of iverson-

  • @deneve3 He is? xD

  • @yournightmarept lol just kidding haha

  • @deneve3 iverson died

  • @VogueMraz because of arthritis?

  • @deneve3 Father of Jordan

  • I remember this one, it was the 1980 finals, one of the prettiest moves I ever saw. It almost looks surreal when I see it again. And 4432jrk, the Jazz were a great team, but unfortunately never won the big game. Eaton was immobile, and that was the weak point. Wennington merely forced Eaton to play outside the paint where he was more effective. However, Stockton is not overrated, and unlike Nash, he could create shots in his latter years without constantly needing a screen.

  • @generatorx dude how old are you? 1980?

  • yeh jordan played in the 80's and couldnt win a damn thing when the true great teams were playing, swept like 5 times in the playoffs,,,,,Bird turned the celtics around his 1st year second year won it all--------and the JAZZ sucked for the jazz fan down below, sucked...mark eaton couldnt even move,,,stockton highly overrated-steve nash is 3 times the player he was,, all they had was karl malone---thats the type of team jordan had to beat in the finals in the 90's--tell me who the jazz had

  • yes.

but its true that Michael Jordan IS the GOAT. even tho i dont think he could have beaten magic or bird's lakers/celtics .

  • this video gave me chills..

    awesome! D:

  • no offense to any NBA stars but why was certain types of team defense illegal during the previous era of jordan and larry

  • I think that before zone defenses were allowed, defenses were strictly man-to-to man, and that double or triple-teaming was only legal to players in possession of the ball. If a player was double-teamed without possession, the defense was ruled illegal.

  • WERE YOU ON CRACK ?

    how about the Jazz?

  • beautiful

  • Dr J was ahead of evryone and there will nevr be another there are some highlight clips of him in the ABA when his knees were healthy he made jordan look like a piker

  • man.

    such a smooth move.

  • The greatest NBA move by the greatest NBA player ever! No other player in history could perform this move with such elegance. Without Dr. J....Jordan ends up a crack dealer!

  • Bird was 23 and 11 lifetime against the Bulls and Jordan and the league sucked in the 90's -6 new teams, they wee scrounging for players--vlade Divac was considered a star--So Jordan beat the trail blazers in the finals-and they were the best team he beat--well Bird scored 52 against them in 1992 with a broken back--Did Joedan ever have to go up against pat rileys laker fast breaks of the 80;s--they would have michael head spinning--they moved the ball around with celtic prescision at high speed

  • he did play in 80s

  • to finish off.

I dont see Kobe drop 63 points in the playoffs, with a bad ankle against the best team in the league.

    Learn your shit. Peace.

  • @ valledjordje

I dont see Kobe winning NCAA national championship.

Carried his team for 6 NBA championships.

    6 MVP finals.

    5 MVP.

Greatest scoring ave. in the playoffs.

Highest pts per game in the history.

Before you talk about something you dont know. Learn your shit.

And to all MJ haters, MJ earned every bit of respect and honor to be the best who has ever played the game. He earned it. Listen to his Hall of Fame speech. Now youll learn some history.

  • @ 4432jkr...

apparently you werent born when michael played for his first 3 rings. STFU and learn your history before you talk trash about something you fucking no shit all about.

I dont see Kobe ever playing the Bad Boys of detroit. I dont see Kobe falling getting his ass beat up every time he went into the basket. I dont see kobe playing with a bad ankle. I dont see Kobe playing with the flu.

Next time learn your shit before you shit talk motherfucker.

  • You are talking of Jordan?

you say Jordan overrated and Kobe "take him all day"?

Start watching soccer, basketball is not for you.......

  • you ARE fuckign dumb.

  • Hey u, MJ hater.

MJ actually beat 6 60+ wins teams in his 6 champ yrs' playoffs.

And u know what, Lakers only beat ONE 60 win team in their 3 peat yrs.

so now who is hype? U or me?

Kobe fans, learn some NBA and basketball before u comment, or yo can just play ur NBA live.

  • Don't say shit like that when you can't even put a ball through a hoop.

  • He is simply the greatest flyer ever! The best Dunker. and he has the greatest hang time.

  • I was a celtic bird fan but this kind of action speaks for itself---can you imagine the plays this guy made in the old ABA with the red white and blue ball and knees at 100%

  • Dr. J is awesome, he always did this moves during his ABA days, this one is the gretest move of all time,He is uncomparable,

  • i think sports replayed in slow mo back then look simply beautiful and looked a work of art but now with the modern cameras these days all that magic is lost

  • This ad campaign was incredible. Would love to see Dr. J take down K-J like that at the sports legends challenge...ha

  • Elgin Baylor who preceeded Julius was able to lierally hang in the air, I've sen other players jum up n down and Elg would still be hanging, the first above the rim player of the NBA, then Connie Hawkins .

  • watch it again.....kareem actually got a finger on it ...

  • From other angles, that shot comes off even better;when I first saw it as a kid,I thought he was going for a dunk at first--but then ,when the lane closed ---HE JUST KEPT ON GOING--while mere mortals were falling back to Earth,he glides ,at his convenience,to the other side of the neighborhood(basket)jand gently deposits the ball. Like watching Rembrandt .

  • Dr J.------Michael Jordan__Kobe Bryant_Lebron James;gotta have the role models

  • Guys copy this if u agree with me.

NBA, Where greatness, amazing, awesome, golden seconds, unbelievable and unforgettable happens.

    I Love The Game

  • absolutely beautiful

  • THE GREATEST SHOT OF ALL TIME.

  • i can do the reverse lay up but man can he hang in the air like theres no tommorow.

  • Dr. J had a machine that stopped time; only wished he usedi it on himself so we could still watch him.

  • i thank god he didnt.

if he did. we wouldnt experience the amazing that he brought to us.

if he still rocks the courts now with that time machine....... i think the amazings will no longer be amazings because of his amazingness =D

  • the only shot that rivals this is Birds follow of his own shot against Houston in the finals.......shot is off to the right..he follows..catches the ball in the air and puts it back lefty........

  • Absolutely;that Bird shot gets better with age looking back on it.

  • Who can do it?

I Think even in a century we will never see something like that

  • Dr. j = HANG TIME AND A HALF~

  • The best moves by two of the best players against the lakers... haha..

  • Best NBA move ever. Blows MJ's '91 layup vs Lakers away

  • i don't know i was just trying to get into my account

  • this song is getting old. sorry

  • The song is called fly

  • Songs Name ?

  • AWESOME

  • You'll never see a better move to the basket than that guys

  • what is this music?????

  • dam... ima try dat one day xd

  • GO LAKERS!!!

  • Dr. J was Jordon before jordon all the stuff jordon did Dr. J had pretty much done it before jordon, but Dr. J amazing

  • Dr.Julius Erving!!!!!!!!

  • Incredible.

I'm really left speechless looking at this.

  • The body control and leaping ability displayed by Julius Erving are pretty much in a class by itself. He didn't just do stuff like this on rare occasions, these highlights were a regular, nightly occurrence with him. Truly he was a master of the game and inch for inch maybe the most dominating ever.

  • longest asss stride i ever seen. long live dr.j

  • magic johnson said this was the greatest play he's ever seen

  • I can watch this again and again. I was only two or three at the time living in suburban Philly, and to see my Philly Brethren go apeshit like this at the Spectrum in the finals gives me goosebumps to say the least. Awesome video.

  • i was doing this in open gym at school last year and i broke my ankle coming down.. alot harder then it looks

  • who thinks it doesnt look hard lol?

  • i tried it and i fell on my back lol

  • It looks easy untill you actually try it with all those guys blocking you. Its hard enough with no one blocking you..

  • does anyone know what the theme song is?

  • Name of song;

    Ludovico Einaudi - Fly

  • Clyde drexler did the same many years later..but he never jumped that FAR...JULIUS OWNS

  • This goes beyond basketball.

We are talking about "the baseline move" which was performed during game 4 in the 1980 NBA finals.

Doctor J. is simply a living legend.

    Respect.

  • chirs paul kind of imitates it, circling under basket and using it as a sheild to go under and cut across, and then kobe tries to do it, but this here is the definition of a reverse layup

  • clean!!!

  • тут уто нибудь говорит по русски

  • j, how big are your friggin hands?

  • no they have not made one for jordan yet that all the fake bullkshit yutube wanna bes when the make a jordan comercial the whole world will be talking about it and you know it

  • Are they literally waiting for the last game of the Finals to add a Jordan video?!?! What is the suspense for? LOL ;-)

  • its killing me that they havent made a jordan video for this yet! but this is pretty beast too

  • yes they have its the one over bryon russel for champianship #6

  • There are only a handful of men who are basketball immortals, and I'm not talking about mere hall-of-famers. Dr. J is one of those few. Awe and wonder, folks. Awe and wonder.

  • ur weird

  • lol thats cracks me up

  • you're right, you have got to admire the person the man considered the greatest basketball player ever looks up to. and dr. j is nothing but legend..

  • What a play by the doctor!

  • THE GREATEST MOVE IT NBA HISTORY

  • f***in love it

  • They should of done a commerical like this with Iverson's shot over Lue in the '01 Finals

  • yea man, that's a great play...

    you're talking about when iverson

    did the crossover-kinda shoot

    under his leg right?

  • yea and then he steps over tyron lue

  • damn, that was cool,

allen was great he played with a lot

of hearth, it's a shame his team

    sucked as hell...

    well, dikembe mutombo was good...

  • that team had great role players that gelled well with AI, i think if the sixers would of kept that team together they could of won at least one championship

  • chek out my video GBC Where Stupidity Happens

  • What program did they used to edit this video?

  • That is hard to do..

  • watch #11 on j's team afta da play he looks at him like in shok like "WTF"

  • Why cant they put an Olajuwon play, like his shake move. And they should also make an MJ commercial too and also a jabbar commercial.

  • Walter herman Also did the same but it wasn't as sick as this one.

  • this is a great video!!

  • that's a reverse for the ages

  • Greatest reverse ever. Other than Kobe avoiding 3 Spurs.( In mid - air)

  • WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
