This was my soph. yr. and now I am a band parent... sadly the guard was much better back then and more ppl wanted to be in it. Yes I lay alot of blame on the CG director now cuz he doesn't put forth as much effort as needed and give those kids something to work for and be proud of! Regardless I love the band and guard and am proud of all they do.
@TIPPYE08 That band would kick the current version in the butt. Ive seen almost all of them from the early 90s to now. Those were the days that Dickinson (4A) was beating bands that made 5A state finals when only 5 bands made finals.
I remember going and watching this back then. It was amazing to watch and listen to not just because they were bad ass but also because my big brother was playing his clarinet. I remember watching and listening to my brother practice and would try to imitate him. then i would try to play his clarinet and slober on the reed and he would get so mad. lol good times and memories!!

An amazing show. This was my freshman year and I went to a different local school. Our band was in awe of Dickinson - DHS played with and beat the biggest 5A sharks in the ocean. This was an amazing show (the audio quality doesn't give it justice)
Boy, I remember plenty of years competing against this band! I'm glad to see some vids on here. I went to Gregory-Portland, one of Dickinson's biggest State rivals in the 80's and early 90's. Check out some of my vids, and I hope to see more DHS Band vids on here soon!
way cool! i was in the dhs marching band starting the year after this. we won state again in 94 but came in 2nd in 96. but we also played lord of the rings for, and won, the texas 4a honor band in 95. i was first chair tuba. ahh, memories.

Oh my gosh...I can't believe I'm on You Tube! This was my freshman year...I'm on snare drum, one from the middle. Did they get our drum feature and visuals? This is too crazy. I'm going to look for the 1994 one, the other year we won state.
I'm in the band at DHS. 4A State Contest happened every other year starting in 1991. Dickinson won state in 1986, 1989, 1990, 1991, and 1993. They have been to state at least since to 1986.

Dont mean by the teams.. meaning by the attitudes of the kids who go there. I remember driving by and some kid was pinned for a stabing he didnt do. Teams are good tho, football i heard is doing better than last year too... thats a step up
The audio quality is horrible on this. I remember seeing this show several times, and the thing that was the most impressive was the sound and the soloists. The drill wasnt the most difficult, but the sound was amazing.
These were certainly the good ol' years! This was the year right after I graduated... C/o 92! We made some amazing memories winning all those state titles!
