LOVE LOVE LOVE! I loved Kerry in Wicked (I saw her three times on west End) and I wish I could've seen her anthems concerts, but alas, I couldn't.

I actually like this song in the lower key; better suited to her voice, for a start, but it's also less screechy than the original key (in my opinion) and leaves it wide open for her to do more ad libbing because it's in her range.

Also, I just loved Brian May. He's a legend. :D <3

A little bit of a fun fact - when Kerry waves for the first time, at 1:35, she's waving at me. I couldn't believe it myself when she did on May 1st, because she's one of my absolute idols. And I STILL can't... Kerry is the finest singer of this generation!!!!!!!

@knmusic1 Idina has been singing this in a lowered key ever since she left the show and incorporated it back into her repertoire. And as they should, since they're performing concerts, and singing a 2 hour concert of almost constant singing is not the same as performing in Wicked, where there are dialogue breaks.

I saw Anthems in Milton Keynes... It was a stunning performance by Kerry and the who band... couldnt fault it... I read a few comments on this video being out of key.. i did notice on the night some songs being lower in key but i guess this because its live and its because she does have to protect her voice for the long haul of the tour its very intensive... I have no complaints about that what so ever Kerry is superb, and the standing ovations by the audience at the show certainly supported it

omg what the fuck are you all complaining about. based on the comments before viewing, it thought it was going to be awful or something..she still sounds amazing. who cares about a couple of key changes. this isn't a wicked performance, it's a live concert, in which it's after almost 2 hours of singing. can any of you sound like she just did in this video. hell no...so just enjoy and stop sitting behind your computer screen bitching, complaining, and being critical..

Remember she has just sung for 2 hours, all the stuff from her album, the songs that are really hard and loud to sing, so by this point she is probably exhausted ) So to be able to sing like this for a closing number i think is brilliant! And...Yes she did manage to sing it in wicked in the Correct key, But this is not Wicked- Its her and if she chooses to sing it in a different key she does have the right to lol She was AMAZING!

I do agree somewhat with @idinafanboi, they shouldn't have changed the key. She managed to sing it fine on TV in the normal key, and in Wicked for two and half years, and on a CD. She should be able to do it live. Don't get me wrong, I love her to bits, but the lower key does take some of the wow factor out of it.

I don't have a clue what some people commenting here have been sniffing :-P Kerry is a mezzo-soprano and belts from her chest very powerfully. She doesn't sound nasal. I've seen her plenty of times in different shows & concerts. Not to name names but I can think of a certain American leading lady who really does sound nasal belting, painfully so.

@JamesFlockhart uhm you don't just lower the key of a song "for a change", you change the arrangement or something. one of the best things about this song is the high belted ending and to be honest it was a lot less spectacular than it should have been because it was lower.

She had no trouble with the other high belt songs in the show. And she didnt damage her voice in Wicked (apart from once) incase you forget she has done a show since then - Oliver and her vocals were great in that. And I dont understand how it doesnt suit her voice type, this version was written around her voice.

@idinafanboi kerry is a soprano, sopranos typically don't/can't belt that well. she rarely belts it's more of a nasal mix, she belted when she started out as elphaba and blew her voice at her first show meaning she was missing many shows over the next couple of months and she blew her voice before broadway meaning she missed roughly half of her broadway shows so i'm not surprised she holds back a lot and would have this lowered.

@idinafanboi well like i said it's pointless trying to pigeon hole music theatre performers but kerry definitely does not have the same type of voice as idina, you can hear her full on belt in her standby performances as elphaba but she hasn't belted anything like that since straining her voice... i'm assuming she has difficulty keeping up that standard and doesn't want to have to sing such a difficult song after all the other big numbers so lowered it
