it's amazing how much the horses trust the ridders to do whats best for them to push them on and also they trust them while they are jumping in betweeen fire!
same, i was considering it but then my mum told me that to do that you would hve to be in the normal police for 2 years...... But other than that, i would join, they are awesomw!
@myponiesrule123 2 years? You'd be lucky. After 2 years you'd be just out of your probation, you can then apply to transfer to other units. But because you'd be tasked on public order events you'd have to show a history policing such events as well as being competent far beyond probation. Realistically you wouldn't be able to join mounted for 5 years. I wouldn't recommend policing as a career just to join mounted branch.
Actually that did happen - one of the riders caught his foot on the side of the jump and brought the whole thing down as they went through. They were both completely unharmed though.
It's unlikely one of these would refuse or run out, they're superbly trained police horses and are used to much scarier things than this!
I saw this at the NEC too...I also remember the fact that the last two to go through the fire colided in the middle! luckily they were both fine and carried on :)

I saw this last year, it's amazing when that horse jumps through the paper!!! and its the only one that will do that on the whole ride!!
