Thanks for the video. I did find DBE awfully short on story and logic when I first saw it. I suspected the movie was originally longer and made more sense.

He had ideas, concepts, suggestions and advice on every aspect of the film and how to bring Dragon Ball to the big screen but was ignored by Fox. Due to that bad experience he walked away from the project and refused to promote it in Chinese territories.

@supersayin1 Exactly. You need someone who truly understands all the Eastern nuances that made Dragon Ball so endearing to fans worldwide. A lot of fans don't see it themselves, which is unfortunate. If they don't see it, I doubt a bunch of Fox execs with little to no understanding of Eastern culture, mythology, etc would notice it. It's yet another reason why an American-made DB movie just can't work...not under Fox anyway.

For me, the movie was an interesting adaption, but could have done without so much of the screw ups (Goku could have been more naive of the modern world, Bulma could have been a little self-absorbed, and Piccolo should have just been seeking his lost youth). If anything, they (and I mean a more competent studio) should go back and try again, maybe even try and use the original script (or a variation of it's elements). It's nice to know there were some who did apprecitate the source material.

That's basically what the episode was about; the media system raping original ideas and dumbing things down becasue they think everyone is stupid and can't get behind a concept above a 9-year-old logic. It's one of the reasons why writers have to be careful about who they work with and know when the risks.

There is one of my earlier draft floating around on line. Don't know how the hell it got out or who leaked it as it's not a polished draft at all and not one of my favorites. I did about 6 in all. I'm not even sure which draft it is as the last draft you turn into the studio is considered the 1st draft. All drafts of Dragonball are property of 20th Century Fox so I'm not at liberty to distribute them.

Thanks guys, I don't mind the lumps. It's what you sign on for to work in Hollywood. The villain in this whole story is the system itself. It's like politics. Once you get involved it corrupts you. Hollywood needs to be more like Pixar. Pixar bats 1000 every time because everyone involve is fans of the movies they make. They love what they do. I don't think the same can be said for much of the studio system. Sometimes you have people making decisions who aren't really fans of what they produce.

Sometimes the development process in Hollywood can be like a group of vegetarians planning a steak house. Their decisions aren't based on their love of a juicy steak but on speculation of what a steak lover might like. The end result is another bland steak that taste just like the one you had at the Sizzler. Or some disgusting thing that was cooked up by someone trying to make it taste like a vegetable. I like to use food analogies because movies, are in essence, food for thought.
