That was some eliminator. left me out of breath deciding who won.

The guy on the right burst the paper first with his feet at 4:12 see the middle of the G has white on it whilst you can see the impression of the guy on the left on the surface of the paper but there is no white at this point as he had not yet burst through, even though he made contact with the paper first. So i would have to say that since it is the first one to burst through the paper, the guy on the right should have won but it was sooo close.

The sad thing is, this all turned out to be pointless... both guys got knocked off the leaderboard so neither made it to the semi-finals.

I was too young to actually watch this as it aired, but I had the video...

I thought the guy on the left won too, just as most people here - but look closely. All he does for that split second is bend the paper. They both BURST THROUGH together. A true dead heat.

No, I can't break the tie either. I did think for a short while that Simon (the guy in blue) broke it first with his feet, but after a while, I realised that THAT was the moment Roger broke his paper.

If the rules stated that the first to TOUCH the paper wins, then Roger would be the clear winner here. However, that paper was not breaking on contact.

1992 season UK wasn;'t great either. I'm eighteen in a few weeks so I'm obviously too young to remember wsatching it but I have the season on video...it's nowhere near as good as 93/94. Give it time to get into the season, that was only the second episode tonight

The burst of the paper is what scores here, and had the contender on the left actually kick at the paper he would of won, but since he didn't the actual BREAK of the paper was a dead heat.

I can't speak for the UK version of the show, but as far as the US version, in the unlikely event of a dead heat in the Eliminator, then yes, the contender that had the head start at the beginning of the race is declared the winner. The closest thing to a Dead Heat in the Eliminator in the US version was a photo finish in the Season 3 Final.

Thanks for the info. Haven't seen too much of the US version myself. I would have chosen the guy who started second as the winner cos it seems logical to think he ran the course in the fastest time though. Must look for that photo finish you mention here...
