  • What a truly lovely piece, Andreas. Your tones of your playing and the richness of this instrument are amazing!

    Thanks,

    James

  • beautiful piece, i didn´t know it.

    great playing.

    thanks for sharing.

  • A beautiful melody, and your playing is exceptionally lovely - I enjoyed it very much! ***** Lorna

  • AMAZING!!! and I agree: Yepes was great!!!

Please correct me in case i´m wrong, but i think the song you play is an arrangement of "Dum Paterfamilias" (the first part of track 5 in the album "Santiago" by the irish band The Chieftains). Anyway, it sounds absolutely GREAT.

THANKS A LOT FROM SPAIN!!! (and sorry for my awful English... :$).

  • Hi, thanks very much.

I did not know that with the Dum Paterfamilias. This can really be the case since it is a traditional pilgrim song of pilgrims going by foot many kilometers to Santiago de Compostela.

    CU Andreas

  • Impressive!!!

    Regards

  • hey good playing there, i've been playing classical for 10 years now and i have a ten string as well, mine cost me $3,500 and thats because i had mine made by the same brand yepes had, the jose ramirez brand and i just love the over tones it produces, just keep playing and who knows, you might be as good as he was, and it sucks he's not in this world anymore, R.I.P NARSICO YEPES

  • Hi, thanks.

great to have a Ramirez! I bought this guitar over 25 years ago and it is made by Yairi (Japan). This was the only affordable brand for me (:-).

  • this sounds so beautiful the way you play it, thank you so much for this video! I have a question, I too play a 10 string classical guitar, how do you stop the extra bass strings from ringing? and what tuning do you use when you play 6 string classical guitar music? I am using the baroque tuning. Thank you!

  • Hi Jose,

thanks very much. I admit that I have bought this guitar many years ago as a fan of Narciso Yepes and that I don't know how to do that all. The main reason to use the 10 strings is, by the way, that the 4 bass strings keep ringing. So I only stop them when its absolutely necessary with the thumb. Yepes usually also did not stop them. I use different tunings. In this case I had D,C,H,A matching to the "a minor" key of the piece.

    Best wishes Andreas

  • If you are interested in Yepes and his 10-string guitar, there is a good new site about it if you look for

  • Hi 10String1963,

this is very interesting site.Thank you very much for the tip!

  • Very sensitive playing. You sure have a nice touch. Your tone is great.

  • Beautiful

  • Hi Phil,

thank you very much and a happy new year!

    Andreas

  • Hi, great!

I don't think that this is rushed. It's the right tempo and not too slow or boring like some other versions I have seen.

Did you write the tab really by yourself?

    Best wishes Greg.

  • Thanks very much, Greg.

Yes I have written it down simply by hearing it. This is - by the way - a good method to learn it...

Best wishes for 2009 also for you and your family. Andreas

  • I want to play this, but i can't download the tab from powertabs net :( maybe you have it?

as for your playing i think you rushed it a little..and too much vibrato..but still it was good

  • I also didn't get a tab. I have written it by myself.

  • Wow! You need to post this video to our "Amazing Musical Instruments" Group!

  • WONDERFUL!!! I did not know this piece, I really like! Your sound is sweet and have a fantastic technique! 5 stars!

  • Thank you very much!

    And merry christmas! Andreas
