  • Cool video..beast wars in the background. lol.

  • so correct me if I'm wrong but basically what I gathered from this is that you painted the arm in a flat black base coat, and then once that dried you used the dry brushing technique to add the metallic color on the arm.

  • I painted the 2 chest pieces black and dry brushed them. Could you spray paint sideways red body pieces with any type of black because when I dry brushed it but the paint won't stay on? Do you have any ideas that can help me out anyways awesome video it really helped :)

  • good video, but dipping the brush in the entire paint bottle is an amerature move...

  • @TheOmegatrix Yeah, this video is from over a year ago, check out some of my latest customs :)

  • @84ironhide I wasnt in the best mood when I wrote that, so I just felt the need to be pricky. Good job by the way, if you were good at customizing in 2009 then I know your AWESOME now!

  • I never painted a toy before, I want to paint over the damage that has been done to my rotf leader prime

  • can anyone send me a vid to show how to make the paint reaaly smooth by spraypaintingand how to spraypaint properly and or by using a brush? please and good vid it helps with most thing

  • cant you just coat the whole figure with clear spray paint?

  • @84ironhide can this work on grey plastic?

  • @SpartanDara117 if u do that you will make the clear plastic blurry

  • @itis121 oh ok thanks, but i painted the plastic anyway, never liked the purple.

  • that's so cool!

  • awsome dude im doing that soon

  • good job im doing the same thing as well but with model master paint so far so good im wounding if you know a better way to wash the transformers to give them a good black line on parts thanks

  • well, there is as you know the techinique called blackwashing, but there is also a technique called black lining. Black lining is when you use an extremely thin brush with black paint on it and fill in the line with the brush. Go with an acrylic paint, these are made to mix with water.

  • thanks for the heads up dude

  • uuhhh, whats blackwash?

  • Blackwashing is when you water down black paint and brush it over the figure. this gives the figure a dull dirty look, it also brings out the lines of the figure makes the lines more defined

  • thanks, wouldnt the paint run at all?

  • no, you only want to use a tiny bit of paint

  • oh, ok then, thanks :)

  • wouldn't the joints get stiff if you paint over them? Also what ideas would you have for a sideswipe custom?

  • Not if your careful!! Repaint sideswipe as sunstreaker!

  • allright thanx!

  • hey I-hide how do you paint the small little details on him?

    i really want to know

  • Hey! I use a VERY small detail brush! I show the kind i use in my "Materials for a custom reapint" vid!

  • toyexpert i got my gloss at micheals so i guess u can get it there

  • could i find that gloss stuff at a micheals??

  • I believe so, but they wont have the same brand.

  • sweet

  • Thanks!

  • I was too at first. Just folow the steps in this vid and you will do just fine. The end result will definatley be worth it!

  • I would like to customize my figures a bit but I am really afraid of messing up bad =(

like giving ironhide a more worn look

  • What I did was my first custom I chose one that i didn't like that much and it turned out good so i did it to all of my other figures so now all of them are awesome!!!

  • Awesome!

  • do you start with a gloss black base or a flat black. or does it matter?

  • well, you can start with either one. If you start with a flat black then it will make it look even more worn. Gloss gives it a little more of a shine. but they both look great!

  • Thanks. i just started on my custom leader prime. it is looking amazing. Using a gloss black under metallic silver, he is looking "Prime".

  • Awesome! When u finish try and post a video of it!

  • thanks i am going to do that.

  • Awesome, hope my video helps! I will post an update to this video soon. I did some more detail work. Remember, the less paint on your brush the better!

  • Well to accomplish a look like that ,u want to start out with a black base. Then from there lighten it up wit hvarious grays, silvers, or steel silver. Just try it on various things to test different methods.

  • dude i love the saw blade any tips on how to do it with painting anything else?

  • Thanks!

  • That's awesome!!! It's just on ironhide, I would've wished you ddi the worn metal look only in a few places, not all over. Still, 5 stars!

  • i uploaded a vid of MY custom sideways. check it out if you'd like!

  • Wow! Thanks! I'll be sure to check it out!! I'm posting my custom ironhide video today!

  • ur amazing im making a grimlock using the stockade mold ill post a video response showing it!

  • awesome!!!!

  • This one is even better. =)
