I don't think this ad's message is so much "wear Nike shoes when playing Capoeira" as it is "Nike supports athletics of the world, so support our products."

You can wear sneakers in regional... its just not the best idea... if you want your feet to get used to all that foot work and dont feel that burn, its better to get used to play with no shoes on.

I was thinking of a traditional regional roda - angoleiro dress codes are different. Even in regional, I've seen a lot of mestres with footwear of some sort. (But never sneakers)
