After all these years listening, I am just now getting a real aprreciation for the extent of Andy's musicality - this fellow has just a great creative ear for melody, rythms and progression. What a gifted, young man he is, indeed !
I sure can't avoid being in love with Corinne. Not only her vocal charms, but Corinne is just the personification of pure female beauty. That hair, those eyes, that face, she's just unbelievably beautiful.

LOL it would be sick if that is what i meant but naw, i mean the her in the video. 80's music...will music ever be as good? if 80's movies can all have second comings, how can 80's music no make a major come back in the charts. Less ae this 'Mad World' shite.
Loved this when it was out + still catch up with it from time 2 time on my old cassette tapes! Easily the best record from a highly competent band who had a striking lead in Corrine and a stylish yet unopposing slant on presenting music.
One of my favorite songs, she is not even a trained singer and she can out sing the crop of popular singers out there now. Great intro. Her band is one of the best in the business.
goldenpica...I agree that the current pop is crap but this is what is pumped out the airways via heavy monetary contributions. Occasionally a genuinly quality song will make its way to the air ways without the push of the dollar. I'm from the 80's myself and am disgusted at the fact that rap/hip hop has somehow become so mainstream. But remember, the stuff we would listen to was just as foreign to our parents as well. I just enjoy Swing out sister in my own private setting and it take me away.
I miss that kind of female singer. Nowadays it seems to be all aquestion of who shakes more the ass on camera for the videos or who has the flattest tummy in order to get attention leaving the music behind in importance. Call me an old fashioned old fart, but pop music has gone completely the wrong way, full of talentless people selling rubish to the masses.
One of the best songs of the 80's. It certainly outdid 'Breakout' Corinne Drewery has such a great voice, deep and rich. She'd be good singing jazz. Love her, love the video.
Great! Memories of the Pier disco Aberystwyth..not that I went there much, I usually went for an Indian - sheekh kebab starter then chicken dupiaza and a naan bread, and if I was feelin brave, Bombay Duck..washed down with an ice-cold Kingfisher
This is my favourite track of all and what an inspiring video for the time this track came out. Not only that but as a gay man I could easily see myself taking Corrine Drewery out to Kudos or G.A.Y. She is the greatest and as nature intended. Make up perfection. Totally flawless.
She's beautiful. Almost impossibly so. Corinne epitomizes sophisticated sex appeal. I'll take one coy glance and subtle smile from Corinne Drewery over all of the navel gyrations and midriff-baring of Madonna and Beyonce.
Swing Out Sister were and still are a fantastic band. This is a great song just like Breakout which is the best song of all time!!! Check out their Greatest Hits Album. Pure timeless style and class
Corinne gets compared to too many people - and she tops them all hands down. Cool, talented and classy - she is the whole package and them some. We need more music like this and SOS deserve a much bigger profile!
Fuck you they r the sounds of Sos all their songs R good??Am I rite?they got a touch simply MYSTIC in da 80's no ne can compare dat in the retro stYle..80's hi NRG only but theirs a Different Touch
This music.......and her voice were soooo ahead of the time. So polished, pure and listen to how tight the band is behind her. A classic all the way around.
This was before they went from being a trio to a duo. For those who wonder about the other former third SOS member Martin Jackson, this is where his contribution as a percussionist is most evident.
Especially in the remix that's on the CD. It basically expands on the single version but you can hear Mr Jackson really pound away, especially in a portion after the bridge.
Both Corinne and Basia came out roughly the same time.Basia was in a group called Matt Bianco who 'hit' first with 'Get out your lazy bed in 1984', which was very jivey, followed by a couple more uptempo hits , then Corinne/Swing Out Sister 'hit' 2 years later with Breakout. Basia then went solo in the late 80's,and settled into a more laid back style very similar to S.O.S during this time Swing Out Sister released a few albums and was the more successful of the two acts
In this song, she sounds alot like Basia ( or is it supposed to be the other way around? : >) ).
I'm a very new fan to SOS's work & I must say that it has really grabbed me by my soul. When I listen to their music, it's amazing how I can feel a very mature apprecation & sensiblity to their sound & at the same time, the youthful exuberance of a jr. high-schooler discovering a band for the very first time.
The sheer phatness of the rythm and bass blew me away when I first heard this. I think it was on a walkman cycling on a high-summer day between Oxford centre and Summertown. It felt like panoramic vision. Magical.
lol...i was a marine brat so you can say..lol...both parents were in the military...SOS, Lisa Stansfield, Loose Ends, Hiroshima, all big groups in japan then...

Two years ago I had the honour of seeing both Corrine/Swing Out Sister and Basia/Matt Bianco within weeks of each other, in my home city of London. For me, that type of music is sheer bliss, total escapism. Both girls were born in 1959 and still look stunning. Where is Corinne from originally, Manchester, Sheffield? I actually thought she was a Nottingham lass, some one enlighten us
