@highschoolmusical841 No, you´re not wrong..progressive rock is such a vast area with many influences. With Patto you have emphasis on rock, jazz and soul..with a lot of playing and improvisations. Whereas a band like Genesis is more of a symphonic, structured band, with no, or almost no, improvisations. You might call Patto jazzrock..or Genesis symphonic rock. Both considered to be progressive rock bands. That´s how i see it anyway.. :)
I really can't think of any 'rock' piano performance that can touch this. I'm so sad he never played more of the same for the rest of his career. This is just wonderful, and always gets the juices flowing. Bless dear Oliie.
Ollie played the joanna almost as good as the vibraphone and guitar. Only saw him once with the Patto's, and never appreciated their music till a couple of years later, when it was too late. Though I did catch Boxer in Southampton once
I just love all they did, and miss this individualistic kind of English music .

Genius that is - sorry...
What about the track "The Man" recorded for Beat Club in 1970 were he plays vibes?
Shouldn't we all buy the rights for that one just to be able to spread it around this stinknin' yet wonderful world??
