Dear Maestro, it is a true honor to hear this... so different as usual, so perfectly mastered, such a play can only come from your performance... Thanks for alerting me about this new post, I can't say anything but THANKS!
@dogtransport Thank you for the compliment on my piano. Yes, very often the old pianos, if they are good ones, have a warmer, more bell-like tone, than modern ones, that latter of which can be more powerful and strident. At least, that is my general opinion (with exceptions, of course). I have maintained this instrument well, too, which also makes a difference.
spectacular, a highly demanding piece, and you foster every detail. Your touch and dynamic control is uncanny (e.g. the coda, 5:20), you honestly remind me of Hamelin, especially with the modest hand and body movements even in fast passages. If I'd live in the states, i'd ask for a lesson! Thanks for illuminating a lesser known work as well, seems like Balakirev indeed wrote more good music than Islamey ;)
This piece of music is so impeccably played. Though I confess to have negligible theoretical knowledge of pure music, yet it needs no science to see how nicely you had been playing. This is simply beyond complements.

Sometimes, the older pianists sound better, too. ;-}

I love the way your piano sounds. Is there such a difference between modern pianos and those form 100 years ago?
