Usually completely random.

Someties I do choose my opponents though. Making them high tier chars to make it more enjoyable.

Very nice. I can see a definite improvement in your TASes.

On a side note, you can cancel the lag of people's up-Bs, but you have to use a slip off. This is basically when you use your momentum to fall off of the edge of a platform while your character is still affected by the landing lag.

It's a little tricky, but it can be even faster than Z-canceling.

yep, it's called edge-cancelling and you can even simply land on the very edge and not slide off of it and it will still cancel the lag. Both are effective.

Oh, and it cancels all lag of all attacks, including specials. Z-canceling only cancels the landing lag from the attack, and not the few frames (5, or 8 during a fast fall) of landing lag you always have from just landing, 5

Curious here. If I do a edge cancel, will it allow me to use my jumps / specials again? Kind of important for some areas as if I'm TAS'ing it could cause me to completely die.

Yes, edge canceling lets you do anything, including jumps/specials.
